Blockly domToWorkspace reset node IDs - javascript

I'm working on an code editor using blockly, and my page currently has tabs for switching between Block View and Code View, kinda like some WYSIWYG editors. Now, Blockly already has plenty of stuff for going from blocks to code, and I've gotten 99% of the parts done so that I can go from code to blocks (it involves building up a bunch of block xml). My call to go from code view to block view looks like this:
var xml = Blockly.Xml.textToDom(self.xmlGenerated());
Blockly.mainWorkspace.clear();
Blockly.Xml.domToWorkspace(Blockly.mainWorkspace, xml);
The problem is, no matter what id attributes I set in my xml nodes, blockly overrides them when I try to read the block xml later. It seems they constantly increment, even though I'm clearing the workspace. This causes a problem for my auto-save feature since that means each time I go from code to blocks my xml is changing, and therefore my code is changing (the generated code is a graph structure that also uses the id fields to identity each node in the graph).
So, my question is, does anyone know how to prevent Blockly from overriding the node id I send, or is there a way to "reset" the node ids?

I asked a very similar question in the Blockly Google group and Neil added a new data XML tag for storing persistent data. Maybe you can put your ID there? From reading the code seems like the id attribute was meant for internal use so it may be unreliable to reuse it.

Using a form to save/update settings in a db and build a HTML with those settings from a template

My limited experience in web development as a self-taught led me to hit a wall while trying to figure out how to deal with this problem.
I need a form (map_settings.php) where the user should enter some inputs. Those inputs must be saved in a database table (MAPS) and then used to create the final HTML file (e.g. map1.html) for that specific user/inputs.
I know how to deal with using forms and saving submitted data to a database.
What is completely obscure to me is how can I use those inputs to automatically generate the final HTML.
My idea is to have a template HTML (template.html) and each time a user saves new settings via the form, I copy the template and replace some variables inside it with the actual data the user has input in the form.
If this might matter, the variables I need to replace in the template are also JavaScript variables within a <script> tag.
Can anybody help me suggesting one viable way to do this? I am mostly using JavaScript and PHP, without frameworks. I've also red about JavaScript templating engines, but I sincerely did not get if those are useful to me in my case.
Anyway, here is an illustration of what I would need to do, to hopefully clarify better my point.
Creating a static HTML file per user is not the way to go. Instead just have a PHP script like mapdisplay.php or similar.
Make the script so that if you type mapdisplay.php?map=1 in the browser then it will read the map ID, get the relevant settings from the database for the map in question and then generate some HTML to display them - of course you can have most of the HTML ready made like a template, and just use PHP to fill in the details from the database. This idea of getting data on the fly when requested, and plugging it into some HTML is how most web applications work.
If you create a static HTML for each user it quickly becomes unmanageable with a large number of users, plus it's hard to introduce changes or improvements to the template because instead of just updating one script file, you have to back and re-do every existing page. There are other disadvantages to your approach too, but I won't continue here - you get the idea I hope.
If I were you I'll make that in this way:
Don't use template.html
Don't get data from database to new file, but from form
Make database test before make file
To make template use
$template_text = "text...text...html...text...".$php_varible."text...text...html...text";

JavaScript not functioning correctly in JSReport

trying to use document.getElementById() in jsreport using the scripts section on the left menu, but it reports back
Error occured - Error during rendering report: document is not defined
What gives? This is simple JavaScript to target a particular ID.
Scripts that are included as part of the report generation request rather than inline with the template do not contain document or any other objects generated by the browser.
If you are trying to use Javascript to modify the document, you are almost certainly doing something wrong. It's not meant to generate interactive content, so your template and data should already be fixed by the time you send the request. You can probably work around this with require.js, but why would you? If you are really generating a report, you can do everything ahead of time before you ever request output.
The problem is asynchronous related. the document.getElementById must come after the the element you want to target is built. So putting the script at the bottom of the page fixes the issue.

Is there a way to get current HTML from browser in Python?

I am currently working on a HTML presentation, that works well, but I need the presentation to be followed simultaneously with a NAO robot who reads a special html tag. I somehow need to let him know, which slide I am on, so that he can choose the correct tag.
I use Beautiful Soup for scraping the HTML, but it does so from a file and not from a browser. The problem is, there is javascript running behind, assigning various classes to specific slides, that tell the current state of the presentation. And I need to be able to access those, but in the default state of the presentation they are not present and are added asynchronously throughout the process of the presentation.
Hopefully, my request is clear.
Thank you for your time
http://www.seleniumhq.org/ (probably webdriver) is your friend. Initialize a browser and call browser.html to get the document in the current state.
There's wget on the robot, you could use it... (though I'm not sure I understand where is really the problem...)

Website Usage Tracking with Colfusion/JavaScript/Other

Our website development team manages many web sites (each with a different vanity URL) on our INTRAnet. We'd like to implement something (code snippet) that is easy to add the Application.cfm/OnRequestEnd.cfm page which would insert a record into the database tracking things like page, url, querystring, userid, etc - basic stuff. Inserting the record is not a big deal. What I'd like to know is from a performance stand point, what would you all recommend so that we dont' get a bottleneck of inserts queued up as employees hit the various sites. We can't use jQuery since not every site will have the same version of jQuery so we really are limited to just using Coldfusion - I think.
Ideally, what we'd like to be able to do is create one main tracking file on our main server and reference that file from all of our other sites. Then if/when we need to make an update, we can make a global change - kind of like how Google Analytics does, just not nearly as much details.
On all of the sites we support, we do have our department logo on those pages. I thought about building a tracking process into the loading of the image, much like they do with emails.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated of if you have a better idea - I'm all ears.
UPDATED
Regarding the image processing, I could not find the original link for the tutorial from easycfm.com but I found what appears to be the identical code here: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Server_Software/Web_Servers/ColdFusion/A_2386-Track-your-Emails-using-coldfusion.html
I would say that you should not try to prematurely optimise this until you have a reason to. If you find you have a problem down the track, you can deal with it then.
Create a Logging CFC and implement a method which receives the metrics you wish to log, and then wraps that up into a record to insert into the DB, and use <cfquery> to write them to a DB table. Call the function from OnRequestEnd.cfm.
I specifically suggest rolling this into a Logging CFC because if you need to change the implementation of how you log things later on, you can just change the inner workings of the logging method, instead of having to mess with all your sites.
Adam Cameron's answer is probably the way you should go. On top of that what I would suggest is inserting those records into a table with no additional indexes. This will cause the inserts to be very quick. Then you can use a scheduled database job to move this data into a nice normalised schema that is quick to analyse.
I wouldn't write off using JavaScript just because each site will have a different version of JQuery. People still used to be able to get stuff done prior to the existence of JQuery it is just a JavaScript library. It is very basic JavaScript to include dynamically include a script file that points at your tracking file with the relevant parameters.
<script type="text/javascript">
var script = document.createElement("script");
var body = document.getElementsByTagName("body")[0];
script.setAttribute("src", "http://www.yourdomain.com/trackingfile.cfm?" + yourparams);
body.appendChild(script);
</script>
As you can see, no need for JQuery.

Get externally referenced class attributes to be local and inline?

I have a webpage that works and all is swell. It is coded using mostly good practises of external css files and minimal inline styles/code. All is well.
Now however, I want to send that page via HTML text only, such as in an email. So there should be no external references to external sites at all. Meaning I now must move my beautiful external references, internally.
I am thinking I can write a javascript function that finds every class of an object, removes it from that class, then gives that object inline "style" attributes equal to what the class has.
But I was wondering if anyone else has other suggestions.
The end goal is to get a wall of text, that when pasted in a non-internet connected browser with no cache or anything, will display exactly what I have on the screen of my "normal operations" page.
There is a perl CPAN module for this:
