I'm new to KO and I'm working on a grid (data table) following the Paged grid example.
This is my code:
var initialData = $.parseJSON(response);
enter code here`response=null;
var PagedGridModel = function(items) {
this.items = ko.observableArray(items);
this.gridViewModel = new ko.simpleGrid.viewModel({
data: this.items,
columns: [
{ headerText: "checkbox",
rowText: function (item) {
return '<input name="select-product" type="checkbox"/>'
if (item.checked)
return baseHtml+' checked'+endingHtml
else
return baseHtml+endingHtml
}
},
{ headerText: "name", rowText: "name" },
{ headerText: "description", rowText: "description" },
{ headerText: "category", rowText: "category" },
{ headerText: "type", rowText: "type" },
],
pageSize: 20
});
};
var myPagedGridModel = new PagedGridModel(initialData)
ko.applyBindings(myPagedGridModel);
And it produces a result like that.
Now I would like that when changing the Model's 'checkbox' attribute, It updates the view. And vice-versa, selecting the view's checkbox to update my model. Something like this:
initialData[0].checked=true;
It seems what I need to do is declare the model as Observable, but I'm not sure how to do that on this context.
Finally, I think this library is relevant for this case: http://knockoutjs.com/examples/resources/knockout.simpleGrid.3.0.js
Fiddle
On the fiddle I had some problem with the externals but pleas take into account the fist SimpleGrid.3.0.js outside the fiddle it works with that one alone.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Ernest.

above code is from different question. it works but i want to use different 'comment' field as tool tip to current 'colD' . also this is a group and pivot agGrid,if it is normal grid this is not a problem. I would appreciate any ideas for group and pivot agGrid?
Not sure if there is good way for the grid to get the data in your scenario then, as your rows and columns are different than original model after pivot.
Maybe you can consider retrieve this information outside of grid. Assume you also want some aggregated information displays in the tooltip, the tooltip function may eventually look like this:
tooltip: params => {
const country = params.node.key;
const year = params.colDef.pivotKeys[0];
const athletesWithNumbers = this.state.rowData
.filter(d => d.year == year)
.filter(d => d.country === country)
.filter(d => d.gold > 0)
.map(d => d.athlete + ': ' + d.gold);
return athletesWithNumbers.join(', ');
}
See this plunker for what I am talking about - again, not sure if this is what you want but just an FYI.
just use tooltipValueGetter
{
field: 'message',
headerName: 'Message',
headerTooltip: 'Message',
width: 110,
filter: 'agSetColumnFilter',
tooltipValueGetter: (params) => `${params.value} some text`
}
or just use the same method for tooltipValueGetter
UPDATE:
Okay, I understood
but it also easy
Ag-grid has property tooltipField - where you can choose any field from grid
For example here - in the column of 'sport' I am showing tooltip of the previous column
Example: https://plnkr.co/edit/zNbMPT5HOB9yqI08
OR
You can easily manipulate with data for each field by tooltipValueGetter
with next construction:
tooltipValueGetter: function(params) {
return `Country: ${params.data.country}, Athlete: ${params.data.athlete}, Sport: ${params.data.sport}`;
},
Example: https://plnkr.co/edit/zNbMPT5HOB9yqI08
Result:
UPDATE 2
Hey Man! I do not understand was is wrong
I just used your code snippet and my solution
And it works as you want
Example: https://plnkr.co/edit/zNbMPT5HOB9yqI08
UPDATE 3
A little bit of manipulation and I can get the data
{ field: 'gold', aggFunc: 'sum',
tooltipValueGetter: function(params) {
var model = params.api.getDisplayedRowAtIndex(params.rowIndex);
return model.allLeafChildren[0].data.silver;
},
},
The Last:

var ColDef = [{
headerName: "colA",
field: 'colA',
rowGroup: true
},
{
headerName: "colB",
field: 'colB',
pivot: true,
enablePivot: true
},
{
headerName: "colC",
field: 'colC',
rowGroup: true
},
{
field: 'colD',
aggFunc: 'last',
tooltipValueGetter: commentTooltipValueGetter
},
{
field: 'comment'
},
{
field: 'colF'
}
];
function commentTooltipValueGetter(params) {
const colB = params.colDef.pivotKeys[0];
var model = params.api.getDisplayedRowAtIndex(params.rowIndex);
for (var i = 0; i < model.allLeafChildren.length ; i++) {
if (model.allLeafChildren[i].data.colB=== colB) {
return model.allLeafChildren[i].data.comments;
}
}
}
This is what i had to do for my question. It is combination of answers from #wctiger and #shuts below. So please also refer them for more context
I've created a kendo grid, and need to insert kendo drop down into one of the columns. I need to get the data for the drop down from another data source. It kind of works, however, the problem is when I have chosen a value from the drop down and the drop down closes, instead of displaying that value it goes into editable mode. Only when I click outside of the dropdown, it displays the correct value. Here is a gif of the issue:
https://media2.giphy.com/media/KyMGB7FmFQMVTChFA7/giphy.gif
How could this issue be solved?
I have successfully created a kendo grid with a drop down list already. The only difference seems to be that there only one data source is used, but here two are used. Here is some of the code for the drop down:
title: "Type",
field: "productType.name", //this property is from the data source used for grid
template: "<kendo-drop-down-list k-value=\"dataItem.productType.id\"
k-options=\"productTypeOptions\" ng-change=\"productTypeChanged(dataItem, 'productType')\"
ng-model=\"dataItem.productType.id\"></kendo-drop-down-list>"
}...];
$scope.productTypes = {
data: [{ name: "Value 1", id: "1" }, { name: "Value 2", id: "2" }]
}
$scope.productTypeDataSource = new kendo.data.DataSource({
schema: {
data: "data",
model: {
fields: {
id: { type: "number" },
name: { type: "string" }
}
}
},
data: $scope.productTypes,
serverPaging: true,
serverSorting: true,
serverFiltering: true
});
$scope.productTypeOptions = {
dataSource: $scope.productTypeDataSource,
dataTextField: "name",
dataValueField: "id"
};
$scope.productTChanged = function (dataItem, field, productArray, dataSource) {
var index = dataSource.indexOf(dataItem);
var c = productArray.data[index];
if (c == null) return;
c[field] = dataItem[field];
return c;
};
$scope.productTypeChanged = function (dataItem, field) {
$scope.productTChanged(dataItem, field, $scope.products, $scope.productDataSource);
};```
I'm trying to bind an array of id-value pairs to a kendo grid popup editor.
Got everything to work for creating a new record. Popup editor loads the custom editor and successfully submits the data to the controller.
The problem is when I try to edit records. The records displays properly in the row, but when I try to edit it, the multiselect does not hold the values.
Grid Markup
$("#ProjectSites-SubContract-grid").kendoGrid({
dataSource: {
type: "json",
schema: {
data: "Data",
total: "Total",
errors: "Errors",
model: {
id: "Id",
fields: {
DateOfContract: { type: 'date', editable: true },
DateOfCompletion: { type: 'date', editable: true },
AmountOfContract: { type: 'number', editable: true },
Contractor: { defaultValue: { id: "", name: "" } }
}
}
},
},
columns: [
{
field: "ScopeOfWork",
title: "Scope of Work",
template: "#=parseScopeOfWork(ScopeOfWork)#",
editor: scopeOfWorkEditor
},
]
});
});
Scope of Work editor
function scopeOfWorkEditor(container, options) {
$('<input data-text-field="name" data-value-field="id" data-bind="value:ScopeOfWork"/>')
.appendTo(container)
.kendoMultiSelect({
dataSource: {
data: [
#foreach (var scopeOfWork in Model.AvailableScopeOfWork)
{
<text>{ id : "#scopeOfWork.Value", name : "#scopeOfWork.Text" },</text>
},
]
}
});
parseScopeOfWork -
this method guys iterates through the object list and concats the name.
function parseScopeOfWork(scopeOfWork) {
var result = "";
for (var i = 0; i < scopeOfWork.length; i++) {
result += scopeOfWork[i].Name;
if (i < scopeOfWork.length - 1)
{
result += ", <br/>";
}
}
return result;
}
Here's a screenshot:
You're binding the SpaceOfWork to the new widget, but how that widget knows your Model ? I mean, just using data-bind doens't binds the model to the widget, it can't figure that by itself. I have two suggestions:
Set the value in the widget's initialization:
.kendoMultiSelect({
value: options.model.ScopeOfWork
Demo
Bind the model to the widget for good:
let $multiSelect = $('<input data-text-field="name" data-value-field="id" data-bind="value:ScopeOfWork"/>');
kendo.bind($multiSelect, options.model);
$multiSelect
.appendTo(container)
.kendoMultiSelect({ ...
Demo
Note: Edit the category cell in both demos to see the changes.
I new with kendo and I have problem with kendo grid. I have structure like this
var data = [{
key1: value1,
key2: value2,
objectInside: [{
insideKey1: insideValue1,
insideKey2: insideValue2,
insideKey3: insideValue3
},
{
insideKey1: insideValue1a,
insideKey2: insideValue2a,
insideKey3: insideValue3a
},
{
insideKey1: insideValue1b,
insideKey2: insideValue2b,
insideKey3: insideValue3b
}]
}];
and I need to create kendo grid and fill it with objectInside elements. For now I can display one of the element of the array:
var grid = $("#grid").kendoGrid({
pageable: true,
selectable: "row",
dataSource: data
columns : [
{ field: "objectInside.insideKey1[0]", title: "Value1:" },
{ field: "objectInside.insideKey2[0]", title: "Value2:" },
{ field: "objectInside.insideKey3[0]", title: "Value3:" }
]
}).data("kendoGrid");
But I do not have idea how to reach all the elements. Without indexing it doesn't work. It is possible to make loop here? I thought about making another variable contain only objectInside and try to read only this element but I failed here too. I try to do it like this:
var newData = data.objectInside;
or
var newData = JSON.stringify(data.objectInside);
Could anyone give me a hint how to deal with it?
Try this template:
{ template: "#= data.objectInside[0].insideKey1 #", title: "Value1" },
{ template: "#= data.objectInside[1].insideKey2 #", title: "Value2" },
{ template: "#= data.objectInside[2].insideKey3 #", title: "Value3" }
Demo
But this will show only one row, because the grid data contains one item in the first level. You can do like this to show all your data inside insideObject.
I am using jquery's DataTables which is really working great. Then only problem I got is, that I am facing (in non-edit-view) the value of the select-field (which is an id). The user of course doesn't want to see the id of course.
Therefore I am looking for a possibility to configure that column in a way to show always the value of label property.
Here a some snippets:
$(document).ready(function() {
var table = $('#overviewTable').DataTable({
dom: "Tfrtip",
ajax: "/Conroller/GetTableData",
columns: [
{ data: "Id", className: "readOnly", visible: false },
{
data: "LoanTransactionId",
className: "readOnly readData clickable",
"fnCreatedCell": function(nTd, sData, oData, iRow, iCol) {
$(nTd).html("<a href='#'>" + oData.LoanTransactionId + "</a>");
}
},
{ data: "Id", className: "readOnly" },
{ data: "property_1", className: "readOnly" },
{ data: "Priority" },
{ data: null, className: "action readOnly", defaultContent: 'Info' }
],
order: [1, 'asc'],
tableTools: {
sRowSelect: "os",
sRowSelector: 'td:first-child',
aButtons: []
}
});
// data reload every 30 seconds
setInterval(function() {
table.ajax.reload();
}, 30000);
editor = new $.fn.dataTable.Editor({
ajax: "PostTable",
table: "#overviewTable",
fields: [
{
label: "Id",
name: "Id"
},
{
label: "Column 1",
name: "property_1"
},
{
label: "Priority",
name: "Priority",
type: "select",
options: [
{ label: "low", value: 0 },
{ label: "mid", id: 1 },
{ text: "high", id: 2 }
]
}
]
});
// Inline Edit - only those who are not readOnly
$('#overviewTable').on('click', 'tbody td:not(:first-child .readOnly)', function(e) {
editor.inline(this, {
submitOnBlur: true
});
});

See the documentation on columns.render
You want to modify your column options for priority
Preferred Option: Your data source has a field with the priority as a string
This is the best option, as you don't want to have two places with this business logic. Keep it out of the client code.
Also, you will want to modify the editor as well so that the options used have been retrieved dynamically from the server to keep this business logic out of the client too. This is left as an exercise for the reader.
Since you don't provide details on what your data structure looks lik, I'm assuming it is an object, and it has an attribute priorityAsString so use the string option type for render.
columns: [
...
{
data: "Priority" ,
render: "priorityAsString",
},
Option 2) You write a function to map priority to string
Do this if you can't get the data from the server. But remember you will need to update many places when the priority list changes.
columns: [
...
{
data: "Priority" ,
render: renderPriorityAsString,
},
...
function renderPriorityAsString(priority) {
const priorityToString = {
0: 'low',
1: 'med',
2: 'high',
};
return priorityToString[priority] || `${priority} does not have a lookup value`;
}
"render": function ( data, type, full ) { return label;}
