.next(".myClass") Not Working Jquery - javascript

I don't know how to access the value that I want I've tried a lot of things but I don't know how to find my value.
Here is my HTML:
<table class="liste">
<tbody>
<tr>
<th>Actions</th>
<th>Nom</th>
<th>Coordonnées</th>
<th>Diplômes</th>
<th>Profil associé</th>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="groupe" colspan="5">2014-2015
<button class="copyMails" title="Copier les adresses emails">
<img src="/images/picto/action_dupliquer.png" alt="">
Copier les adresses emails
</button>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>
<input type="text" class="lstMails" value="myText">
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<th>Actions</th>
<th>Nom</th>
<th>Coordonnées</th>
<th>Diplômes</th>
<th>Profil associé</th>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="groupe" colspan="5">2014-2015
<button class="copyMails" title="Copier les adresses emails">
<img src="/images/picto/action_dupliquer.png" alt="">
Copier les adresses emails
</button>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
BLABLABLA
</tr>
<tr>
BLABLABLA
</tr>
<tr>
<td>
<input type="text" class="lstMails" value="myText2">
</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
Here is my JS:
$("body").on('click', ".copyMails", function() {
console.log($(this).parent().parent().parent().next('.lstMails').val());
});
I've tried with and with parent with more and less etc. But I don't know how to do this.
I want to access the next .lstMails when I click on the button .copyMails

You should use closest() to navigate parent tr then use next() to point to next tr then you can use find()
Use
$("body").on('click', ".copyMails",function(){
console.log($(this).closest('tr').next('tr').find('.lstMails').val());
});
Update
$("body").on('click', ".copyMails", function() {
alert($(this).closest('tr').nextAll('tr:has(.lstMails)').find('.lstMails').val());
});

You need to find the next tr sibling and then the lstMails element inside it
$("body").on('click', ".copyMails", function() {
$('#log').html($(this).closest('tr').nextAll('tr:has(.lstMails)').first().find('.lstMails').val());
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<table class="liste">
<tbody>
<tr>
<th>Actions</th>
<th>Nom</th>
<th>Coordonnées</th>
<th>Diplômes</th>
<th>Profil associé</th>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="groupe" colspan="5">2014-2015
<button class="copyMails" title="Copier les adresses emails">
<img src="/images/picto/action_dupliquer.png" alt="">Copier les adresses emails
</button>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>
<input type="text" class="lstMails" value="myText">
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<th>Actions</th>
<th>Nom</th>
<th>Coordonnées</th>
<th>Diplômes</th>
<th>Profil associé</th>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="groupe" colspan="5">2014-2015
<button class="copyMails" title="Copier les adresses emails">
<img src="/images/picto/action_dupliquer.png" alt="">Copier les adresses emails
</button>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>BLABLABLA</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>BLABLABLA</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>
<input type="text" class="lstMails" value="myText2">
</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
<div id="log"></div>
Your code is getting the tbody ancestor of the clicked button, then trying to find the next sibling which has class lstMails - that is not what you are after.

Copy Paste multiple rows from CSV to input fields in an HTML Form

I am trying to copy paste data from a CSV file to an HTML form using Jquery. My form has an array of input fields so I can do multiple inserts at the same time on submit
Now, suppose I copy paste multiple rows from a CSV file to the second column of the first row in the form, the first row of the form shows data correctly but in the second row, the data pasted starts from the first column itself, wherein it should start from the second row as it did on the first row of the form
CSV rows and cells
1 4 a
2 5 b
3 6 c

function csv_paste_datagrid(event){
$(document).ready(function() {
$('input').bind('paste', null, function (e) {
$this = $(this);
setTimeout(function () {
var columns = $this.val().split(/\s+/);
var i;
var input = $this;
for (i = 0; i < columns.length; i++) {
input.val(columns[i]);
if( i % 3 !== 2){
input = input.parent().parent().parent().parent().parent().next().find('input');
} else{
input = input.parent().parent().parent().parent().parent().parent().next().find('input').first();
}
}
}, 0);
});

Right, I had to clear a few double ids from your HTML first and also added a class attribute (contTD) to your "main" container <td>s. After that the whole thing fell into place fairly easily:
to prevent the actual TSV text from being pasted directly into the first input field I used e.preventDefault()
I then used .split() twice on the TSV string to turn it into the 2D array vals
I identified the .closest() td.contTD element (--> td) and its column and row numbers (col and row) by finding the .index() of td and its parent row.
starting form the .closest('tbody')I then worked my way down again through the .slice()of rows starting with row and its (sliced) child input elements starting at column col.
in an .each() loop I then assigned the value of the vals-array to the input element, but only if val[i][j] exists!
There could be further improvements to the script, as it will run trhough all <tr>s of the table from row row to the end. But I hope this is a starting point for you and has given you a few more ideas on how to work with jquery.
In my script I used a delegated paste-event-binding to the <form> element. This should work well with a dynamic table. I did not pack it into an extra function. But, of course, when you use it in your site it should be placed in your onload section.
And lastly: in my second .split() I am looking for a tab character as column separator, so this example will work with a TSV file format. If you want to apply it on space or comma separated values you should adapt the regular expression there to something like /\s/ or /,/ .
$('form').on('paste', 'input', function (e) {
e.preventDefault(); // do not paste the contents into the first cell ...
// convert TSV from clipboard into a 2D array:
let vals=event.clipboardData.getData('text').trim().split(/\r?\n */).map(r=>r.split(/\t/));
let td=$(this).closest('.contTD'); // closest container TD and work from there
let col=td.index(), row=td.parent().index(), tbdy=td.closest('tbody');
// modify input fields of rows >= row and columns >= col:
tbdy.children('tr').slice(row).each((i,tr)=>{
$(tr).find('td input:text').slice(col).each((j,ti)=>{
if(vals[i]&&vals[i][j]!=null) ti.value=vals[i][j] }
)});
})

The above is just an example of a row from my table.
Upon appending $(this).closest("tr").after("<tr><td colspan='2'></td><td colspan='9'>" + $(this).next().html() + "</td></tr>"); on a button click the table becomes visible in the new <tr>
To my extend my knowledge , apparently it's been appended directly to tr since the display is set to none, does the dom elements work like this ?
I'm novice at the most, when it comes to html.
Can Anyone please explain why this happens ?
Any relevant information will greatly appreciated.
Your selection (using html()) returns the contents of the element, not the element itself, so any attributes on the element are also disregarded. One easy fix might be to move your hide styles down a level:
<div id="data_hidden">
<table style="display:none">
<tr>
<td>
Hidden data appears
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</div>
Demo 1
This leaves the original div element in the DOM, but it doesn't affect appearance.
Alternatively, grab the outerHTML of the selection's raw element:
$(this).closest("tr").after("<tr><td colspan='2'></td><td colspan='7'>"
+ $(this).next().get(0).outerHTML + "</td></tr>");
});
Demo 2

index class in different rows in jquery

I have a table with buttons on each row. I am trying to click on a button on a particular and it picks the value .claim_value field of the same row and put the value in the td opposite it .vet_value.
Here's my code
<table id="tasks" class="col-md-12 table">
<thead>
<tr>
<td>Service</td>
<td>Key notes</td>
<td>Claim Amount</td>
<td>Vetted Amount</td>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr class="therow">
<td class="claim_value">hey</td>
<td class="vet_value"></td>
<button class="button">button</button>
</tr>
<tr class="therow">
<td class="claim_value">you</td>
<td class="vet_value"></td>
<button class="button">button</button>
</tr>
<tr class="therow">
<td class="claim_value">me</td>
<td class="vet_value"></td>
<button class="button">button</button>
</tr>
<tr class="therow">
<td class="claim_value">them</td>
<td class="vet_value"></td>
<button class="button">button</button>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
so i want to be able to click on class="button"
$(".button").click(function(){
(".claim_value").val() of this same row goes into (".vet_value").val()
});
Just call parent() to access the parent <tr> element and modify <td> from there
$(".button").click(function(){
var $parent=$(this).parent();
var claimValue=$parent.find(".claim_value").text();
$parent.find(".vet_value").text(claimValue);
});
you don't need to use .val() unless the element is input or textarea
with td use .text() also you need to use $(this) to refer to the button you clicked and closest('tr') to select the closest row then .find() to find the element with class you want
$(".button").click(function(){
var claim_value = $(this).closest('tr').find(".claim_value").text();
$(this).closest('tr').find(".vet_value").text(claim_value);
});
Use html() that is not val(). Insert td inside which has to be the direct child of tr. As val() only comes for input and textarea.
$(".button").click(function(){
alert($(this).closest('tr').find(".claim_value").html());
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<table id="tasks" class="col-md-12 table">
<thead>
<tr>
<td>Service</td>
<td>Key notes</td>
<td>Claim Amount</td>
<td>Vetted Amount</td>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr class="therow">
<td class="claim_value">hey</td>
<td class="vet_value"></td>
<td>
<button class="button">button</button>

</tr>
<tr class="therow">
<td class="claim_value">you</td>
<td class="vet_value"></td>
<td>
<button class="button">button</button>

</tr>
<tr class="therow">
<td class="claim_value">me</td>
<td class="vet_value"></td>
<td>
<button class="button">button</button>
</td>
</tr>
<tr class="therow">
<td class="claim_value">them</td>
<td class="vet_value"></td>
<td>
<button class="button">button</button>
</td>
</tr>

Javascript function executed before previous function is done

I have a webpage that contains a couple of tables.
At the beginning it checks the language and sets the corresponding translations.
At the end of the html file (after all the elements are loaded) the translations are set using javascript.
After that variables are requested via wifi.
This is what I see when I load the page.
The elements that don't need translation are shown before set_language_for_raw_data_() is executed.
I have checked Chrome's developer tools and saw this.
It shows that set_language_for_raw_data_() is executed before Raw_Data_Requests(), but it does not show until Raw_Data_Requests() is done.
Is there a way to show the translations before Raw_Data_Requests() is executed?

set_language_for_raw_data_():
document.getElementById("menu_title").innerHTML = d12;
document.getElementById("raw_data_title").innerHTML = t5;
document.getElementById("version_title").innerHTML = t7;
document.getElementById("cumulatives_title").innerHTML = t8;

applySystemLanguage();
setTranslations(language);
setTranslations(language):

d12="Show RAW data";
t5="Real time measurements";
t7="Version";
t8="Cumulatives";
t9="Error history";
t11="Cycle history";
break;
}
With rxjs you can do someting like
set_language_for_raw_data_(){
//Your code
return Observable.of(language );
}
set_language_for_raw_data_().subscribe(() => Raw_Data_Requests());
Here, you wait until the set_language_for_raw_data_ returns an observable. You can then subscribe on it. From the moment the observable is completed, it will call the next function.
The complete explanation you can find on http://reactivex.io/, But take some time and check how Observables are working
What I did to make the translations show was add a timeout:
set_language_for_raw_data_();
setTimeout(function(){
Raw_Data_Requests();
}, 20);
Apparently this was enough time for the html to be shown/updated.

jQuery - toggle button show/hide table data

I'd like some help please.
<h2>Operating systems <span class="button small toggle-btn">Toggle</span></h2>
<table class="data" cellpadding="8" border="1">
<thead>
<tr>
<th class="first" style="width:120px">
Operating System </th>
<th class="">
Percentage </th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td class="">iOS 8.4</td>
<td class="">
<div class="ui-percentage" style="width:17%">17 %</div>
</td>
</tr>
<tr class="tr even">
<td class="">iOS 8.3</td>
<td class="">
<div class="ui-percentage" style="width:6%">6 %</div>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="">iOS 8.2</td>
<td class="">
<div class="ui-percentage" style="width:11%">11 %</div>
</td>
</tr>
<tr class="tr even">
<td class="">iOS 8.1.3</td>
<td class="">
<div class="ui-percentage" style="width:11%">11 %</div>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="">iOS 8.1</td>
<td class="">
<div class="ui-percentage" style="width:6%">6 %</div>
</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
When the page loads for the first time I want the table to be collapsed. When I click the Toggle button I want to change the table status, so basically to expand it and collapse it again if the button is clicked again.
This is my script
<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.toggle-btn').closest('table').hide(); // I want to target the table right after the button
$('.toggle-btn').on('click', function(event) {
$(this).closest('table').toggle();
});
});
</script>
How can I make this work correct ?
why not just use toggle function directly?
$(document).ready(function() {
$('table').hide();
$('.toggle-btn').on('click', function() {
$('table').toggle();
});
});
if you have only one table then only do
$(document).ready(function() {
$('tbody').closest('h2').next().find("tbody").hide();
$('.toggle-btn').on('click', function() {
$('tbody').toggle();
});
});
For more then one sibling tables
You can find closest h2 and next() gives you table
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.toggle-btn').closest('h2').next().find("tbody").hide();
$('.toggle-btn').on('click', function() {
$(this).closest('h2').next().find("tbody").toggle();
});
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>

<td class="">

$(document).ready(function() {
$('.toggle-btn').parent().next('table').hide(); // I want to target the table right after the button
$('.toggle-btn').on('click', function(event) {
$(this).parent().siblings('table').toggle();
});
});
Selector should be $('.toggle-btn').parent().next('table')
DEMO
the function closest() goes up the element's parents, so it will never find the table. You would have to do something like this:
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.toggle-btn').parent().parent().find('table').hide(); // I want to target the table right after the button
$('.toggle-btn').on('click', function(event) {
$(this).parent().parent().find('table').toggle();
});
});
But this would not work if there are multiple tables. Consider using an id or for the table, so that you can access it directly. Eg:
<table id="data-table-1" class="data" cellpadding="8" border="1">
That would make the javascript much simpler, ie:
$('.toggle-btn').on('click', function(event) {
$('#data-table-1').toggle();
});
