How to disable the option: Open in new tab
I asynchronously loading content is responsible for what the code below:
jQuery:
$(document).ready(function()
{
init();
$(window).resize(init);
$('#floatMenu,#smallMenu').find('>a').click(function()
{
var t = this;
$('#wynik').animate({opacity:0}, 'fast', function()
{
$(this).load(t.href, function()
{
$(this).animate({opacity:1}, 'fast');
})
});
//$('#wynik').load(this.href);
$(this).addClass('active').siblings().removeClass('active');
}).first().click();
});
HTML:
<div class="container">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-12">
<div class="list-group" id="smallMenu">
TEXT
TEXT
TEXT
TEXT
TEXT
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-3" id="menu-padding-top">
<div class="list-group" id="floatMenu">
TEXT
TEXT
TEXT
TEXT
TEXT
</div>
</div>
<div class="col-md-9">
<div id="wynik">
{* Here is content loading. *}
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
I tried swapping to (jQuery code as well) and href to data-href - does not work.

... try to add preventDefault() inside the .click() handler. Without it when you click the link the browser navigate to the page indicate to the href attribute.
Add this line:
e.preventDefault();
in your code:
$(document).ready(function()
{
init();
$(window).resize(init);
$('#floatMenu,#smallMenu').find('>a').click(function(e)
{
e.preventDefault(); //ADD HERE
var t = this;
$('#wynik').animate({opacity:0}, 'fast', function()
{
$(this).load(t.href, function()
{
$(this).animate({opacity:1}, 'fast');
})
});
//$('#wynik').load(this.href);
$(this).addClass('active').siblings().removeClass('active');
}).first().click();
});
now you block the loading of a new page. And javascript perform your handler without redirect you in a new page.
AN EXAMPLE...

Just add the event.preventDefeult() function on the first line of your handler, like this:
$('#floatMenu,#smallMenu').find('>a').click(function(event)
{
event.preventDefault();
var t = this;
$('#wynik').animate({opacity:0}, 'fast', function()
{
$(this).load(t.href, function()
{
$(this).animate({opacity:1}, 'fast');
})
});
//$('#wynik').load(this.href);
$(this).addClass('active').siblings().removeClass('active');
}).first().click();

How to select only headers within a class

I am trying to hide the div if you click only on the header. But my filter does not seem to work. I get the intended function wherever I click on the div. I want to restrict this to only when you click on the header.
<div class="post" onclick="updatenext()">
<h2>Item3</h2>
</div>
<div class="post" onclick="updatenext()">
<h2>Item4</h2>
</div>
<script>
var index=0;
$(".post").hide();
$(".post").eq(0).show();
// Tried this too: $(".post").filter(":header")....
$(":header.post").on("click",
function () {
index=$(this).index();
//console.log($(this).index());
$(this).hide();
$(".post").eq(index).show();
}
);
</script>
I expect the click to work only when clicking on the header element within each div.
Try using only jQuery for the event listener, like this:
<div class="post">
<h2 onclick="updatenext()">Item3</h2>
</div>
<div class="post">
<h2 onclick="updatenext()">Item4</h2>
</div>
<script>
var index = 0;
$(".post").hide();
$(".post").eq(0).show();
$("h2").on("click", function () {
index = $(this).parent().index();
$(this).parent().hide();
$(".post").eq(index).show();
});
</script>

Add external link to an <a> element inside a Click Event Listener Div

I'm having trouble adding a link to a button inside a card. the card is wrapped in a div element which when clicked automatically expands and closes.
Is there anyway to remove this functionality just when clicking on the details button? So it acts as a normal link?
Here is the code:
https://codepen.io/candroo/pen/wKEwRL
Card HTML:
<div class="card">
<div class="card__image-holder">
<img
class="card__image"
src="https://source.unsplash.com/300x225/?wave"
alt="wave"
/>
</div>
<div class="card-title">
<a href="#" class="toggle-info btn">
<span class="left"></span>
<span class="right"></span>
</a>
<h2>
Card title
<small>Image from unsplash.com</small>
</h2>
</div>
<div class="card-flap flap1">
<div class="card-description">
This grid is an attempt to make something nice that works on touch
devices. Ignoring hover states when they're not available etc.
</div>
<div class="card-flap flap2">
<div class="card-actions">
Read more
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
JS:
$(document).ready(function () {
var zindex = 10;
$("div.card").click(function (e) {
e.preventDefault();
var isShowing = false;
if ($(this).hasClass("show")) {
isShowing = true;
}
if ($("div.cards").hasClass("showing")) {
// a card is already in view
$("div.card.show").removeClass("show");
if (isShowing) {
// this card was showing - reset the grid
$("div.cards").removeClass("showing");
} else {
// this card isn't showing - get in with it
$(this).css({ zIndex: zindex }).addClass("show");
}
zindex++;
} else {
// no cards in view
$("div.cards").addClass("showing");
$(this).css({ zIndex: zindex }).addClass("show");
zindex++;
}
});
});
You can check the target of the event and see if it is an <a> using is()
Something like:
$("div.card").click(function (e) {
// only run when not an `<a>`
if(!$(e.target).is('a')){
e.preventDefault();
//the rest of your code
....
}
});
I don't know Jquery but with javascript you can do this inside your code:
const links = document.querySelectorAll('.btn');
links.forEach(link => link.addEventListener('click', (e)=>e.stopPropagation()))

Push/slide menu from left. Need to hide menu by clicking whole page?

I have found this JSFiddle and I do not know how to fix it, so the user can quit the menu by clicking anywhere in the content instead of only clicking the button. I wan't multiple options, and I can't figure it out?
$(document).ready(function() {
$menuLeft = $('.pushmenu-left');
$nav_list = $('#nav_list');
$nav_list.click(function() {
$(this).toggleClass('active');
$('.pushmenu-push').toggleClass('pushmenu-push-toright');
$menuLeft.toggleClass('pushmenu-open');
});
});
Thank you!
You could catch clicks on the <html/> tag and hide the menu:
$('html').click(function() {
$nav_list.removeClass('active');
$('.pushmenu-push').removeClass('pushmenu-push-toright');
$menuLeft.removeClass('pushmenu-open');
});
This requires stopping event bubbling up, so your first click function has to start with
$nav_list.click(function(e) {
e.stopPropagation();
Whole thing could for sure be optimized, but it should give you a start.
Here is the updated Fiddle.
In the script i have modified the same script to have a toggle function for the content area, the area with the text "Slideout Navigation"
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$menuLeft = $('.pushmenu-left');
$nav_list = $('#nav_list');
$nav_list.click(function() {
$(this).toggleClass('active');
$('.pushmenu-push').toggleClass('pushmenu-push-toright');
$menuLeft.toggleClass('pushmenu-open');
});
});
$(document).ready(function() {
$menuLeft = $('.pushmenu-left');
$content_list = $('#contentpane');
$content_list.click(function() {
$(this).toggleClass('active');
$('.pushmenu-push').toggleClass('pushmenu-push-toright');
$menuLeft.toggleClass('pushmenu-open');
});
});
</script>
The below is the change done to HTML page. I have added a div for the content so clicking on it can be checked through the script
<div class="container">
<div class="main">
<section class="buttonset">
<div id="nav_list">Menu</div>
</section>
<section class="content">
<div id="contentpane">
<h1>Slideout Navigation</h1>
<p>
</p>
</div>
</section><!-- End Content -->
</div><!-- End Main -->
</div><!-- End Container -->

delegate jQuery toggle event to the rest of the document

I have a dropdown menu activated on click.
I use toggle to activate it when you click on the .hello_panel
HTML
<div class="container">
<div class="login_panel">
<div class="hello_panel">
<div class="hello_label">Hello </div>
<div class="hello_value">foofoo</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
jQuery
$('.hello_panel').bind('click', function(){
$('.menu_popup').toggle();
})
if I click it it works fine, it does the show and hide effect when the .hello_panel
is clicked.
what I want is it to be shown if the .hello_panel is clicked and hidden back if when clicking anything else on the page except the .menu_popup
You can hide it whenever you click on the document
JavaScript
$(document).click(function () {
$('.menu_popup:visible').hide();
});
$('.hello_panel').bind('click', function (e) {
$('.menu_popup').toggle();
e.stopPropagation();
});
HTML
<div class="container">
<div class="login_panel">
<div class="hello_panel">
<div class="hello_label">Hello</div>
<div class="hello_value">foofoo</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div style="display:none" class="menu_popup">menu_popup</div>

Another way if you don't want to stopPropagation is passing a call back function that registers a once time click listener to that document to hide the menu
$('.hello_panel').bind('click', function () {
$('.menu_popup').show(function () {
$(document).one('click', function () {
$('.menu_popup:visible').hide();
});
});
});

Want to make inactive hyperlink

I have problem in hide and show the div element.
In this scenario when user click on the year the respect content is shown.
Problem I want to inactive hyperlinking on respective year when it is opened.
The script and html is below;
for this I have tried .preventDefault(). but not got any success:
<script type="text/javascript" >
$(document).ready(function() {
$("div.new:gt(0)").hide();// to hide all div except for the first one
$("div[name=arrow]:eq(0)").hide();
// $("div.nhide:gt(0)").hide();
// $("a[name=new]").hide();
$("a[name=new]").hide();
$('#content a').click(function(selected) {
var getID = $(this).attr("id");
var value= $(this).html();
if( value == '<< Hide')
{
// $("#" + getID + "arrow").hide();
$("a[name=new]").hide();
$("#" + getID + "_info" ).slideUp('slow');
$("div[name=arrow]").show();
$("div.new").hide();
$(this).hide();
// var getOldId=getID;
// $("#" + getID ).html('<< Hide').hide();
}
if($("a[name=show]"))
{
// $("div.new:eq(0)").slideUp()
$("div.new").hide();
$("div[name=arrow]").show();
$("a[name=new]").hide();
$("#news" + getID + "arrow").hide();
$("#news" + getID + "_info" ).slideDown();
$("#news" + getID ).html('<< Hide').slideDown();
}
});
});
</script>
The html code is below:
<div id="content">
<div class="news_year">
<a href="#" name="show" id="2012">
<div style="float:left;" name="year" id="news2012year">**2012** </div>
<div style="float:left;" name="arrow" id="news2012arrow">>></div>
</a>
</div>
<div class="new" id="news2012_info">
<div class="news">
<div class="news_left">News for 2012</div>
</div>
<div class="nhide" ><< Hide </div>
</div>
<div id="content">
<div class="news_year">
<a href="#" name="show" id="2011">
<div style="float:left;" name="year" id="news2012year">2012 </div>
<div style="float:left;" name="arrow" id="news2012arrow">>></div>
</a>
</div>
<div class="new" id="news2011_info">
<div class="news">
<div class="news_left">News for 2011</div>
</div>
<div class="nhide" ><< Hide </div>
</div>
Fiddle
if i am understanding your problem,
event.preventDefault(); not works with all browser so if you are using other browser like IE
then use event.returnValue = false; instead of that.so you can detect your browser using javascript as
var appname = window.navigator.appName;
This is what I'm currently using in my projects to "disable" an anchor tag
Disabling the anchor:
Remove href attribute
Change the opacity for added effect
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
$("a").click(function () {
$(this).fadeTo("fast", .5).removeAttr("href");
});
});
</script>
Enabling the anchor:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("a").click(function () {
$(this).fadeIn("fast").attr("href", "http://whatever.com/wherever.html");
});
});
Original code can be found here
Add a class called 'shown' to your wrapper element when expanding your element and remove it when hiding it. Use .hasClass('shown') to ensure the inappropriate conditional is never executed.
Surround the code inside of the click function with an if statement checking to see if a variable is true or false. If it is false, it won't run the code, meaning the link is effectively inactive. Try this..
var isActive = true;
if (isActive) {
// Your code here
}
// The place where you want to de-activate the link
isActive = false;
You could also consider changing the link colour to a grey to signify that it is inactive.
Edit
Just realised that you want to have multiple links being disabled.. the code above will disable all of them. Try the code below (put the if around the code in the click function)
if(!$(this).hasClass("disabled")) {
// Your code here
}
// The place where you want to de-activate the link
$("#linkid").addClass("disabled");
// To re-enable a link
$("#linkid").removeClass("disabled");
// You can even toggle the link from disabled and non-disabled!
$("#linkid").toggleClass("disabled");
Then in your CSS you could have a declaration like this:
.disabled:link {
color:#999;
}
