I have an array of 1000 records and i pass it javascript function. it take almost 20 sec to show data in jqgrid.
I know that addDataRow method is very slow but i could not find any other alternative.
Is there any way i can make it much faster ?
Script:
function GetCommodityGrid(array) {
// alert("Methods");
// var rows = array;
alert(rows.length);
jQuery(document).ready(function () {
jQuery("#list").jqGrid({
// url: 'TestGrid/GridData',
datatype: 'local',
//
colNames: ['COM_NAME', 'COM_CODE', 'DELV_UNITS', 'LOT_SIZE', 'TICK_SIZE', 'TICK_VALUE'],
colModel: [
{ name: 'COM_NAME', index: 'COM_NAME', width: 90, editable: true },
{ name: 'COM_CODE', index: 'COM_CODE', width: 100, editable: true },
{ name: 'DELV_UNITS', index: 'DELV_UNITS', width: 80, align: "right", editable: true },
{ name: 'LOT_SIZE', index: 'LOT_SIZE', width: 80, align: "right", editable: true },
{ name: 'TICK_SIZE', index: 'TICK_SIZE', width: 80, align: "right", editable: true },
{ name: 'TICK_VALUE', index: 'TICK_VALUE', width: 150, sortable: false, editable: true }
],
rowList: ReturnRowList(),
// loadonce: false, // hit only once on the server
rownumbers: true, // show the numbers on rows
pager: '#pager',
sortname: 'COM_NAME',
viewrecords: true, // show the total records on the end of the page
editurl: "TestGrid/EditRecord",
caption: "JSON Example"
});
for (var x = 0; x <= rows.length -1; x++) {
$("#list").addRowData(x, rows[x]);
}
// jQuery("#list").setGridParam({ rowNum: 10 }).trigger("reloadGrid");
$("#list").jqGrid("navGrid", "#pager", { add: false },
{ //the Edit options
closeAfterEdit: true,
afterSubmit: function (response) {
// you should return from server OK in sucess, any other message on error
alert("after Submit");
if (response.responseText == "OKK") {
alert("Update is succefully")
return [true, "", ""]
}
else {
alert("Update failed")
$("#cData").click();
return [false, "", ""]
}
}
});
In general passing your array to data option should do the trick:
jQuery("#list").jqGrid({
datatype: 'local',
data: rows,
...
});
Depending on how your array looks you might also need to add:
...
localReader: { repeatitems: true },
...
On rare cases when your data are extremely specific (you haven't included them in your question) some further changes to localReader might be required.

I am using jqgrid. I want to allow people to use a checkbox in inline editing. There will not be any buttons like edit etc, As soon as he clicks the checkbox, it should be considered as committed on client side.
There is a checkbox which I want to always keep in edit mode. After user is done making changes, he will click on a submit button & full grid data will get posted to the server.
I expect that getGridParam method should give me the updated cell values. However it is not doing so.
I feel my problem is the onSelectRow method. somewhere I am missing the implementation to save the current row state. & hence in the getGridParam method. I am getting the original values.
Code :
var lastsel;
jQuery("#AcOpenDataGrid").jqGrid({
url: '/Admin/Role/GetMappedMenus',

"Code",
"MenuName",
"Allow"

if (id && id !== lastsel) {
jQuery(grid_selector).jqGrid('restoreRow', lastsel);
//jQuery(grid_selector).jqGrid('saveRow', lastsel);
jQuery(grid_selector).jqGrid('editRow', id, true);
lastsel = id;
}
},
}).navGrid(pager_selector, { view: false, del: false, add: false, edit: false, search: false, refresh: true }
).jqGrid('filterToolbar', { stringResult: true, searchOnEnter: false, defaultSearch: 'cn' });
});
$(".submit").click(function () {
var localGridData = $("#AcOpenDataGrid").jqGrid('getGridParam', 'data');
//To Do : Post Ajax here.
});
I found a solution here. Not exactly what I expected but it does serves my purpose.
Make a column be a checkbox
beforeSelectRow: function (rowid, e) {
var $self = $(this),
iCol = $.jgrid.getCellIndex($(e.target).closest("td")[0]),
cm = $self.jqGrid("getGridParam", "colModel"),
localData = $self.jqGrid("getLocalRow", rowid);
if (cm[iCol].name === "closed") {
localData.closed = $(e.target).is(":checked");
}
return true; // allow selection
},
I have bind the jqGrid from MVC controller , below is my jqgrid code . I want to export selected checkbox row data to csv , i have gone through all code's but every one providing sample local data, but i am binding from server to jqGrid,so when i select the checkbox rows in jqGrid and click on "Export " button the entire row should export to csv, can anybody have the solution ?
$('#jQGrid').jqGrid({
search: true,
multiboxonly: true,
colNames: ["PayloadCorrelationId", "Export", "Asset", "DateReported", "ErrorType", "Error", "Latitude", "Longitude", "Payloadurl"],
colModel: [
{ name: 'CorrelationId', jsonmap: 'CorrelationId', hidden: true, width: 2 },
{ name: "", editable: true, edittype: "checkbox", width: 45, sortable: false, align: "center", formatter: "checkbox", editoptions: { value: "1:0" }, formatoptions: { disabled: false } },
{ name: 'Device', jsonmap: 'Device', width: 60 }, { name: 'DateReported', jsonmap: 'DateReported', width: 100 },
{ name: 'ErrorType', jsonmap: 'ErrorType', width: 85 },
{ name: 'Error', jsonmap: 'Error', width: 140 },
{ name: 'Latitude', jsonmap: 'Latitude', width: 80 }, { name: 'Longitude', jsonmap: 'Longitude', width: 80 },
{ name: 'Payloadurl', jsonmap: 'Payloadurl', width: 180, formatter: 'link' }],
cellEdit: true,
pager: jQuery('#divpager'),
rowList: [5, 20, 50, 100],
rowNum:5,
sortorder: "desc",
datatype: 'json',
width: 900,
height: 'auto',
viewrecords: true,
mtype: 'GET',
gridview: true,
loadonce: true,
url: '/DataIn/DataInSearchResult/',
emptyrecords: "No records to display",
onSelectRow: true,
onSelectRow: function (id, status) {
var rowData = jQuery(this).getRowData(id);
configid = rowData['CorrelationId'];
alert(configid);
// Add this
var ch = jQuery(this).find('#' + id + ' input[type=checkbox]').prop('checked');
if (ch) {
jQuery(this).find('#' + id + ' input[type=checkbox]').prop('checked', false);
} else {
jQuery(this).find('#' + id + ' input[type=checkbox]').prop('checked', true);
}
// end Add
rowChecked = 1;
currentrow = id;
},
loadComplete: function () {
var ts = this;
if (ts.p.reccount === 0) {
$(this).hide();
} else {
$(this).show();
$("#lblTotal").html($(this).getGridParam("records") + " Results");
}
}
});
Just to clarify, There must be any buttons on clicking which the csv will generate from the selected check box. If it is so then loop through the grid data to filter out checked rows. You can loop through the grid data easily on firing the button event. Based on the resultant data create the csv.
I am using jqGrid to show data with subgrid.
Data is in xml format.
$("#UDFs").jqGrid({

}).jqGrid('navGrid', '#UDFsMap', { edit: false, add: false, del: false, search: true });
When grid displays on page, it shows Plus (+) sign / arrow even if the subgrid does not have data.
Is it possible to hide / remove this Plus (+) sign / arrow when there is no data in subgrid?
UPDATED:
I tried your proposed solution and saw samples also, it works for me from 2nd page onwards. its not working for 1st page.
loadComplete: function (data) {
var grid = $("#UDFs");
var $self = $(this), rowIds = $self.jqGrid("getDataIDs"), item, i, l = rowIds.length;
for (i = 0; i < l; i++) {
item = $self.jqGrid("getLocalRow", rowIds[i]);
debugger;
if (item.ValidValues == null || item.ValidValues.length === 0) {
// subggrid is empty
$("#" + rowIds[i]).find(">.ui-sgcollapsed").unbind("click").html("");
}
}
$(this).HideBusy();
},
When the grid load, it works from 2nd page onward. Please see the screen shot. In the last column (ValidValues), if exist then show subgrid / plus sign otherwise hide.
In below screen shot it is working.
I recommend you to hide the "+" icon of rows which have no subgrids inside of loadComplete callback. The first parameter of callback loadComplete contains all parsed XML data (datastr: data) which you use to fill the grid. See the old answer which describes the main idea of the hiding of the rows. You can get the ids of the rows of the current page by usage of getDataIDs and to find the corresponding item in XML data by the id. Then you can examine the information about subgrids and to hide the icon.
The demo demonstrates the approach in case of usage JSON data. You can do the same with XML data too. You need just change the criteria for testing the input data for the existence of subgrid.
UPDATED: The code which you posed in UDPATED works only with the second part because you use datatype: 'xmlstring'. At the first loading the data in loadComplete are XML data and you should be more careful how to parse it. My demo used JSON instead of XML data. So you should use the demo which I posted as the template, but you have to modify it based on the format of the data which you use.
I am working with JqGrid.
I have some JSON from server
[{"Id":1,"Name":"product1","Price":234,"Size":"Small"},{"Id":18,"Name":"product2","Price":3242,"Size":"Large"}]
and Jquery code
$("#table").jqGrid({
url: '#Url.Action("GetProductsAtJSON", "Product")',
datatype: 'json',
mtype: 'GET',
colNames: ['Id', 'Name', 'Price', 'Size'],
colModel: [
{ name: 'Id', index: 'Id', width: 55, key: true, editable: true, editoptions: { readonly: true }, sortable: true, search:true },
{ name: 'Name', index: 'Name', width: 150, editable: true, editoptions: { size: 25 }, editrules: { required: true }, search: true },
{ name: 'Price', index: 'Price', width: 100, align: 'center', editable: true, editoptions: { size: 25 }, editrules: { required: true, number: true, minValue: 1, maxValue: 10000 } },
{ name: 'Size', index: 'Size', width: 150, editable: true, edittype: "select", editoptions: { value: "0:Large;1:Medium;2:Small" } }
],
pager: '#pager',
rowNum: 10,
rowList: [10, 20, 30],
sortname: 'Id',
sortorder: "asc",
viewrecords: true,
caption: 'All product',
height: '400',
jsonReader: {
repeatitems: false,
loadonce: true,
id: "Id",
root: function (obj) { return obj; },
page: function (obj) { return 1; },
total: function (obj) { return 1; },
records: function (obj) { return obj.length; }
}
});
I have read the documentation and a lot of forums, but I don't understand why sorting and search doesn't work. Maybe my JSON format is incorrect and I must write total page records, but that's not working either. I use key: true from rows id, but it's not working.
What am I doing wrong?
There are some small errors in your code:
loadonce: true is jqGrid option and not the property of jsonReader
You should use sorttype property for columns which content should be interpreted not as a text. For example you should add sorttype: "integer" to the definition of 'Id' and 'Price' columns
I recommend you to consider whether the value editoptions: {value: "0:Large;1:Medium;2:Small"} is what you need. It will be important for edition only.
I recommend you additionally to use gridview: true to improve performance of the grid, use autoencode: true to interpret the values in JSON input as textes instead of HTML fragments and use height: 'auto' to have better look of the grid.
To have local searching of data you need either use navGrid or filterToolbar.
The demo is an example of fixing of your code.
I have a jquery grid.
I want to change the data of jquery grid on dropdown change event.
So I need to call the jqgrid inside the change event.
below is my code
$("#ddlCategory").change(function () {
UserJqGrid();
GetMapDataOnChange();
});
The first function return a jqgrid and the 2nd function will return a map.
But only 1st time the jqgrid load.After that on change the dropdown list the data of the grid not updated.
my UserJqGrid() function is
$("#list").jqGrid({
url: "<?php echo base_url() ; ?>userController/GetUserGirdData?catIds=" + str + "&cityId=" + cityId,
datatype: 'json',
mtype: 'GET',
colNames: ['Object Id', 'Name', 'Longitute', 'Latitute', 'Country', 'City'],
colModel: [{
name: "id",
index: "id",
key: true,
width: 20,
editable: true,
key: true,
editoptions: {
readonly: true,
size: 10
}
}, {
name: "objName",
index: "objName",
width: 100,
editable: true
}, {
name: "longi",
index: "longi",
width: 30,
align: "left",
editable: true
}, {
name: "lati",
index: "lati",
width: 30,
align: "left",
editable: true
}, {
name: "countryName",
index: "countryName",
width: 50,
align: "left",
editable: true
}, {
name: "cityName",
index: "cityName",
width: 50,
align: "left",
sortable: false,
editable: true
}, ],
pager: '#pager',
rowNum: 10,
rowList: [10, 20, 30],
sortname: 'id',
sortorder: 'desc',
viewrecords: true,
width: 900,
gridview: true,
shrinkToFit: true,
//rownumbers: true,
height: 200,
caption: 'Shipping Method',
editurl: '../php/EditShipping.php'
});
jQuery("#list").jqGrid('navGrid', '#pager', {
edit: true,
add: true,
del: false,
excel: false,
search: false
});
I solved my problem.
I call this reload event of grid.As the grid is already created so we don't need to call the whole function again.Just need to reload the grid with new data.
jQuery("#list")
.jqGrid('setGridParam',
{
url:"<?php echo base_url() ; ?>userController/GetUserGirdData?catIds=" + str + "&cityId=" +cityId,
datatype: 'json',
mtype: 'GET'
}).trigger("reloadGrid");
