Each input values into each <span> or <div> - javascript

I am trying to get the value of each input and put it in the span tag below without using ID's or classes. It's easy if I use classes or Id's. But I need to be able to use it without those. I need each input values put into each span tag. I have two but it will be more in actuality.
Thanks in advance.
any help is appreciated
below is my fiddle
var input = $('input:text');
$(input).each(function(){
values = $(this).val();
});
$('b').each(function(){
$(this).html(values);
console.log(values);
});
http://jsfiddle.net/6LB76/3/

Simple enough, just juggle the index.
jQuery
$('input:text').each(function(i){//get index for each input
var tx = $(this).val();//get value for this input
$('b').eq(i).html(tx);//print value on output with same index
});
Which can easily be expanded to update irt, as you can see in this fiddle...

You need to loop through ieach input and then each output. This is assuming that you have exactly the same number of input fields and spans to show the values.
Here is the code:
var input = $('input:text');
var values = new Array();
$(input).each(function (i) {
values[i] = $(this).val();
});
$('b').each(function (i) {
$(this).html(values[i]);
console.log(values[i]);
});
Here is the Fiddle:

First, set a counter variable i to 0. The loop through each <b> element and increment i as we go through each. Populate the <b> element with the value of the input at index i.
function run() {
var inputs = $('input:text');
var i = 0;
$('b').each(function(){
$(this).html(inputs.eq(i++).val());
});
}
Here is the Fiddle
You're being somewhat vague in your question, so please clarify if this is not what you want.

JQuery: Finding a way to name cloned input fields

I'm not the best at using jQuery, but I do require it to be able to make my website user-friendly.
I have several tables involved in my website, and for each the user should be able to add/delete rows. I created a jquery function, with help from stackoverflow, and it successfully added/deleted rows. Now the only problem with this is the names for those input fields is slightly messed up. I would like each input field to be an array: so like name[0] for the first row, name[1] for the second row, etc. I have a bunch of tables all with different inputs, so how would I make jQuery adjust the names accordingly?
My function, doesn't work completely, but I do not know how to go about changing it.
My Jquery function looks like:
$(document).ready(function() {
$("body").on('click', '.add_row', function() {
var tr = $(this).closest('.row').prev('table').find('tr.ia_table:last');
var clone = tr.clone();
clone.find("input").val('');
clone.find("select").val('');
clone.find('input').each(function(i) {
$(this).attr('name', $(this).attr('name') + i);
});
clone.find('select').each(function(i) {
$(this).attr('name', $(this).attr('name') + i);
});
tr.after(clone);
});
$("body").on('click', '.delete_row', function() {
var rowCount = $(this).closest('.row').prev('table').find('tr.ia_table').length;
var tr = $(this).closest('.row').prev('table').find('tr.ia_table:last');
if (rowCount > 1) {
tr.remove();
};
});
});
I also created a jsFiddle here: https://jsfiddle.net/tareenmj/err73gLL/.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
UPDATE - Partial Working Solution
After help from a lot of users, I was able to create a function which does this:
$("body").on('click', '.add_row', function() {
var tr = $(this).closest('.row').prev('table').find('tr.ia_table:last');
var clone = tr.clone();
clone.find("input").val('');
clone.find("select").val('');
clone.find('input').each(function() {
var msg=$(this).attr('name');
var x=parseInt(msg.split('[').pop().split(']').shift());
var test=msg.substr(0,msg.indexOf('['))+"[";
x++;
x=x.toString();
test=test+x+"]";
$(this).attr('name', test);
});
clone.find('select').each(function() {
var msg1=$(this).attr('name');
var x1=parseInt(msg1.split('[').pop().split(']').shift());
var test1=msg1.substr(0,msg1.indexOf('['))+"[";
x1++;
x1=x1.toString();
test1=test1+x1+"]";
$(this).attr('name', test1);
});
tr.after(clone);
});
A working jsFiddle is here: https://jsfiddle.net/tareenmj/amojyjjn/2/
The only problem is that if I do not select any of the options in the select inputs, it doesn't provide me with a value of null, whereas it should. Any tips on fixing this issue?
I think I understand your problem. See if this fiddle works for you...
This is what I did, inside each of the clone.find() functions, I added the following logic...
clone.find('input').each(function(i) {
// extract the number part of the name
number = parseInt($(this).attr('name').substr($(this).attr('name').indexOf("_") + 1));
// increment the number
number += 1;
// extract the name itself (without the row index)
name = $(this).attr('name').substr(0, $(this).attr('name').indexOf('_'));
// add the row index to the string
$(this).attr('name', name + "_" + number);
});
In essence, I separate the name into 2 parts based on the _, the string and the row index. I increment the row index every time the add_row is called.
So each row will have something like the following structure when a row is added...
// row 1
sectionTB1_1
presentationTB1_1
percentageTB1_1
courseTB1_1
sessionTB1_1
reqElecTB1_1
// row 2
sectionTB1_2
presentationTB1_2
percentageTB1_2
courseTB1_2
sessionTB1_2
reqElecTB1_2
// etc.
Let me know if this is what you were looking for.
Full Working Solution for Anyone Who needs it
So after doing loads and loads of research, I found a very simple way on how to do this. Instead of manually adjusting the name of the array, I realised that the clone method will do it automatically for you if you supply an array as the name. So something like name="name[]" will end up working. The brackets without any text has to be there. Explanation can't possible describe the code fully, so here is the JQuery code required for this behaviour to work:
$(document).ready(function() {
$("body").on('click', '.add_row', function() {
var tr = $(this).closest('.row').prev('table').find('tr.ia_table:last');
var clone = tr.clone();
clone.find("input").val('');
tr.after(clone);
});
$("body").on('click', '.delete_row', function() {
var rowCount =
$(this).closest('.row').prev('table').find('tr.ia_table').length;
var tr = $(this).closest('.row').prev('table').find('tr.ia_table:last');
if (rowCount > 1) {
tr.remove();
};
});
});
A fully working JSfiddle is provided here: https://jsfiddle.net/tareenmj/amojyjjn/5/
Just a tip, that you have to be remove the disabled select since this will not pass a value of null.

span calculation using jquery

Here i'm trying to calculate the values based upon the active span. I've posted my full codes on jsfiddle. Span is not contenteditable. And another important thing is i'm assuming span values are 40. So, if user selected the span it would change into green color. if user click another span span#returndata should be 40+40 = 80. if user clicks another span the result should be 40+40+40 = 120.
I've tried below jquery. But i didn't get the result..
JsFiddle
jQuery
$(".text").click(function(){
$(this).toggleClass('selected');
$(function(){
$('span#text').click(function(){
value = 40;
var t = ('span#text').value;
var total = (t+t);
$('span#returndata').val(total);
});
});
});
I updated your jFiddle to make it work. http://jsfiddle.net/m89L4/6/
It is better to recalculate the value everytime a user clicks based upon the number of seats chosen because you may get inconsistencies otherwise.
JS Code
$(".text").click(function(){
$(this).toggleClass('selected');
var count = $('.selected').length;
var value = 40;
$('.returndata').text(value*count);
});
Try this one
$(".text").click(function(){
$(this).toggleClass('selected');
value = 40;
var t = parseInt($(this).text(),10);
var total = parseInt(value+t);
$('span.returndata').text(total);
})

Adding numeric value from textbox into another textbox

I have been looking for this script everywhere however i was unable to find it. I am trying to create a simple donation count. When a value is added inside a textbox I want it to be permanently fixed into second textbox after button submission. Thanks in advance for all your help.
1) First get the value from textBox1 (assuming id=textbox1)
2) Assign the value to second textbox (assuming id=textbox2)
3) Add the below code in form submission or button click.
document.getElementById('textbox2').value =
document.getElementById('textbox1').value
Try this:
<script>
window.onload = function () {
var textfield6 = document.getElementById('textfield6');
textfield6.value = 0;
document.querySelector('input[type=button]').onclick = function () {
textfield6.value = parseInt(textfield6.value) + parseInt(document.getElementById('textfield5').value);
}
}
</script>

Altering the value of an option (select) element?

I'm attempting to select the selected value of a <select> form element, and append the value with -R. (This will be for regex matching later on). Anyway, so far I've tried the following:
Attempt 1:
var country = $('select[name=g_country\\['+value+'\\]]').val();
$('select[name=g_country\\['+value+'\\]]').find('option[value=' + value +']').val(country + '-R');
Attempt 2:
var country = $('select[name=g_country\\['+value+'\\]]').val();
$('select[name=g_country\\['+value+'\\]]').val(country + '-R');
I can tell that the selection of the correct form element (using delete_x, where x is a number) works fine, as the form elements to disable when .select-delete is clicked, however the value setting doesn't. The commented portion down the bottom is what I've been using to check the value of the <select> element post-value change (or what should be post-value change).
Here's a link to my jsFiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/gPF8X/11/
Any help/edits/answers will be greatly appreciated!
Try this:
$('.select-delete').click( function() {
var value = $(this).attr('id');
value = value.replace('delete_', '');
var country = $('select[name=g_country\\['+value+'\\]] option:selected').val() + '-R';
alert(country);
$('select[name=g_country\\['+value+'\\]] option:selected').val(country);
$('select[name=g_country\\['+value+'\\]]').attr('disabled','1');
$('input[name=g_url\\['+value+'\\]]').attr('disabled','1');
$(this).css('display', 'none');
var check = $('select[name=g_country\\['+value+'\\]]').val();
$('#test').append(check);
});
There is an issue with your HTML as well.
Finally came up with the right selector, props to #gjohn for the idea.
Here's my final working code, that appropriately adds -R to the end of g_country[x]:
$('.select-delete').click( function() {
var value = $(this).attr('id');
value = value.replace('delete_', '');
var country = $('select[name=g_country\\['+value+'\\]]').val();
$('select[name=g_country\\['+value+'\\]] > option:selected').val(country + '-R');
$('select[name=g_country\\['+value+'\\]]').attr('disabled','1');
$('input[name=g_url\\['+value+'\\]]').attr('disabled','1');
$(this).css('display', 'none');
});

Mimicking "placeholder" attr with "value"

I found this online:
var x = 0; // count for array length
$("input.placeholder").each(function(){
x++; //incrementing array length
});
var _values = new Array(x); //create array to hold default values
x = 0; // reset counter to loop through array
$("input.placeholder").each(function(){ // for each input element
x++;
var the_default = $(this).val();
var default_value = $(this).val(); // get default value.
_values[x] = default_value; // create new array item with default value
});
var current_value; // create global current_value variable
$('input.placeholder').focus(function(){
current_value = $(this).val(); // set current value
var is_default = _values.indexOf(current_value); // is current value is also default value
if(is_default > -1){ //i.e false
$(this).val(''); // clear value
}
});
$('input.placeholder').focusout(function(){
if( $(this).val() == ''){ //if it is empty...
$(this).val(current_value); //re populate with global current value
}
});
As you can see, it grabs the text within a value attribute and sets it as the default_value. It then checks the current_value against the default.
I'm running into a problem.
In this example, we have an element like:
<input type="text" class="placeholder" value="potato">
If the user focuses and unfocuses the input, it works great - removing and repopulating with "potato".
However, let's say a user enters "ioqiweoiqwe", and then unfocuses the input (fills out the rest of the form"). They then go back to our input and delete all of their text, and click on another field. The input would be re-populated with "ioqiweoiqwe" - when really, we want it to be re-populated with the default_value. How do I manage to do this?
Yours sincerely,
a jQuery nub.
Note: I set up a jsfiddle here... a bit after some comments: http://jsfiddle.net/xmhCz/
I don't really know what the problem with that code is, but it looks like it was written by someone who didn't know much JavaScript. I rewrote the functionality:
$("input.placeholder").each(function() {
var me=$(this);
var defaultValue=me.val();
me.focus(function() {
if(me.val()===defaultValue) {
me.val("");
}
});
me.blur(function() {
if(me.val()==="") {
me.val(defaultValue);
}
});
});
Test it out on JSFiddle.
HTML inputs have defaultValue
