I m displaying a popver inside the modal i can hide it on close but unable to hide it while clicking out side the modal. I try to hide it by on close which is fine. the code is here
$('.close, .close-button').click(function(){
$(".popover.bottom").css('display', 'none');
});
I tried to hide by clicking out side the modal but it is hide when I click inside the modal.
$("#myModal").click(function(){
if(($("#myModal").attr('aria-hidden')) == 'false'){
$(".popover.bottom").not('.modal-content').css('display', 'none');
}
});
can any one help me in this regard?
$("#myModal").click(function(){
if(!$("#myModal").attr('aria-hidden')){
$(".popover.bottom").not('.modal-content').hide();
}
});
I had a similar Issue. Could you try this instead? Replace your id/class from bootstrap.
$('[data-toggle="popover"]').popover();
$('body').on('click', function (e) {
$('[data-toggle="popover"]').each(function () {
//the 'is' for buttons that trigger popups
//the 'has' for icons within a button that triggers a popup
if (!$(this).is(e.target) && $(this).has(e.target).length === 0 && $('.popover').has(e.target).length === 0) {
$(this).popover('hide');
}
});
});
For reference: http://jsfiddle.net/mattdlockyer/C5GBU/2/
I have done it using
$("#myModal").on('hidden.bs.modal', function(){
$(".popover.bottom").css('display', 'none');
});

I'm using a Bootstrap 4 modal to show a big navigation.
To open the navigation I'm using a toggle button with a CSS animation. The animation changes a hamburger menu icon to an X.
The problem is, that if you click to fast and the modal animation isn't ready, the button gets confused and shows the X even at an already closed menu/modal.
Is there any way to disable the button until the modal animation is ready?
Here's my code:
$('.menu').click(function(){
$('#burger').toggleClass('active');
});
I saw, that there is a way to listen to the modal animation:
$('#myModal').on('shown', function () {
// do something…
})
But I could not figure out how to implement it in my function.
Here's my actual code: https://codepen.io/cray_code/pen/JjjqRpN
You can just tie toggling of the burger to both show/hide modal events..
var toggleBurger = function () {
$('#burger').toggleClass('active-sandwich');
}
$('#nav-modal').on('show.bs.modal', toggleBurger)
$('#nav-modal').on('hide.bs.modal', toggleBurger)
Demo
Well you could write it like this
$(document).ready(function(){
var isShown = false;
$('#nav-modal').on('shown.bs.modal', function(){
isShown = false;
$("#burger").css("display", "block");
});
if(!isShown)
{
$('#burger').on('click', function(){
isShown = true;
$("#burger").css("display", "none");
});
}
$('#nav-modal').on('hidden.bs.modal', function () {
isShown = false;
$("#burger").css("display", "block");
});
Sorry if the code kind of messy, but I hope you could understand what I mean.
basically I only put some boolean to make sure its showing or not.
After that I validate it. If isshown is false then you can't click until isshown true.
I have a div which should be visible, whenever a button is clicked. It's like a menu. Afterwards, it should disappear (toggle), when the button is clicked again or when the user clicks somewhere else on the page (whole body).
In my current approach, the menu constantly toggles, so both functions (see below) are being triggered.
$("#b1").click(function() {
$("#menu").toggle("slide");
});
$("body").click(function() {
if ($("#menu").is(":visible")) {
$("#menu").toggle("slide");
}
});
How should I improve my code, so that the menu only disappears when the button is clicked again or when the user clicks somewhere else?
Here is a fiddle.
Use $(window) to attach the event, then you can close the menu anywhere.
$("#b1").click(function() {
$("#menu").toggle("slide");
return false;
});
$(window).click(function() {
if ($("#menu").is(":visible")) {
$("#menu").toggle("slide");
}
});
Check demo: https://jsfiddle.net/wru8mvxt/5/
You can use e.target and check whenever it's not the menu or the button which got clicked. Otherwise the menu closed even on the button click or on a click inside.
$("#b1").click(function() {
$("#menu").slideDown();
});
$("body").click(function(e) {
if (!$(e.target).is("#b1") && $("#menu").is(":visible")) {
$("#menu").slideUp();
} else {
e.preventDefault();
}
});
If you want the menu to stay even on click inside, just add && !$(e.target).is("#menu") to the if condition.
Working example.
I think your code looks good.. I see one problem when you click on menu it will be hide.
$("#b1").click(function() {
$("#menu").toggle("slide");
return false; // prevent to pass click event to body
});
$("body").click(function() {
if ($("#menu").is(":visible")) {
$("#menu").toggle("slide");
}
});
$("#menu").click(function(e){
e.preventDefault();
return false;
});
Use something like this:
$(document).mouseup(function (e)
{
var container = $("YOUR CONTAINER SELECTOR");
if (!container.is(e.target) // if the target of the click isn't the container...
&& container.has(e.target).length === 0) // ... nor a descendant of the container
{
container.hide();
}
});
Try this.
$("#b1").click(function() {
event.stopPropagation();
$("#menu").toggle("slide");
});
$("body").click(function() {
if(!$(event.target).closest('#menu').length){
if ($("#menu").is(":visible")) {
$("#menu").toggle("slide");
}
}
});
I think this code will solve your issue. You can use e.target property to find whether user clicked on button or outside button. When user click on button b1 it enters both b1 click event and body click event. So if in order to find where the user is clicked you can use event.target property.
Clicking the button will toggle the menu visibility.
Clicking outside the button will close the menu if it is opened.
$("#b1").click(function() {
$("#menu").toggle("slide");
$("#b1").text() == "hide menu" ? $("#b1").text("show menu") : $("#b1").text("hide menu");
});
$("body").click(function(e) {
if (!$(e.target).is("#b1") && $("#menu").is(":visible")) {
$("#menu").slideUp();
}
else {
e.preventDefault();
}
});
Working fiddle
You have to do following changes.
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#b1").click(function(e) {
$("#menu").slideToggle();
e.stopPropagation();
});
$(document).click(function(e) {
if (!$(e.target).is('#menu, #menu *')) {
$("#menu").slideUp();
}
});
});
I am trying to display menu (#lorem-ipsum-wrapper) when the div (#content) is focused, and again hide the menu if neither the div or the menu is clicked.
js:
$(document).ready(function() {
console.log('ready');
$('#content').on("focus", function(event) {
$('#lorem-ipsum-wrapper').css("display", "block");
event.stopPropagation();
});
$(document).on("click", function() {
$('#lorem-ipsum-wrapper').css("display", "none");
});
});
demo at codepent.io
But the problem is that as soon as the #content is in focus, the menu displays and then again hides itself. Isn't the stopPropagation() method used to stop this? What am I doing wrong? Your help will be very much appreciated. Thank you.
Does this help ?
$(document).click(function(e) {
var e = $(e.target), eid = e.attr("id");
if (!e.parents("#lorem-ipsum-wrapper").length && !e.parents("#content-wrapper").length && eid !== "content-wrapper" && eid !== "lorem-ipsum-wrapper") {
$('#lorem-ipsum-wrapper').css("display", "none");
}
});
or you can use blur event :
$('#content').on("focus", function(event) {
$('#lorem-ipsum-wrapper').css("display", "block");
});
$('#content').on("blur", function(event) {
$('#lorem-ipsum-wrapper').css("display", "none");
});
If I didn't misunderstand, you want to hide #lorem-ipsum-wrapper if #content is not clicked and show the #lorem-ipsum-wrapper on click of #content. Then, your code should be:
$(document).ready(function() {
console.log('ready');
$('#lorem-ipsum-wrapper').css('display','none');
$('#content').on("focus", function(event) {
$('#lorem-ipsum-wrapper').css('display','block');
});
$('#content').on("blur", function() {
$('#lorem-ipsum-wrapper').css("display", "none");
});
$('#lorem-ipsum-wrapper').on("click",function(){
$(this).css("display","block");
});
Explanation:
The third lines ensures that the lorem-ipsum-wrapper is not show before executing any code.
The fourth and fifth lines make the #lorem-ipsum-wrapper visible whenever the focus is on the #content.
The seventh and eighth lines make the lorem-ipsum-wrapper hidden whenever the users clicks somewhere else on the page or make the #lorem-ipsum-wrapper lose focus.
I have a modal with the following code to close it
a#modalclick.icon.icon-close.pull-left href="#mymodal"
I want to know when the x icon is clicked and the modal closed so I can do something with the link id.
My javascript is;
$('#modalclick').on('click', function(event) {
console.log('clicked')
});
but it's not recognising the modal being clicked closed...
use these events hidden.bs.modal, hide.bs.modal Docs.
JS
$('#mymodal').on('hidden.bs.modal', function(event) {
console.log('modal is being to be closed')
});
$('#mymodal').on('hide.bs.modal', function(event) {
console.log('modal hidden')
});
Have you tried using .not(':visible') ?
if ( $('#yourdiv').not(':visible') ) {
console.log('not visible');
}
This question already has answers here:
How do I prevent my dropdown from closing when clicking inside it?
(3 answers)
Closed 4 years ago.
My menu uses Bootstrap 3 and I can't prevent dropdown from closing on click. How can I do it?
JSFiddle
// Add open class if active
$('.sidebar-nav').find('li.dropdown.active').addClass('open');
// Open submenu if active
$('.sidebar-nav').find('li.dropdown.open ul').css("display","block");
// Change active menu
$(".sidebar-nav > li").click(function(){
$(".sidebar-nav > li").removeClass("active");
$(this).addClass("active");
});
// Add open animation
$('.dropdown').on('show.bs.dropdown', function(e){
$(this).find('.dropdown-menu').first().stop(true, true).slideDown();
});
// Add close animation
$('.dropdown').on('hide.bs.dropdown', function(e){
$(this).find('.dropdown-menu').first().stop(true, true).slideUp();
});
You need to stop event from bubbling up the DOM tree:
$('.dropdown-menu').click(function(e) {
e.stopPropagation();
});
event.stopPropagation prevents event from reaching the node where it's eventually handled by Bootstrap hiding menu.
Demo: http://jsfiddle.net/wkc5md23/3/
I believe this should be a more proper solution, as stopping propagation on the click event might sometimes cause issues later on in development. You may read more into it here: http://css-tricks.com/dangers-stopping-event-propagation/ Instead this solution stops propagation on the Bootstrap hide (hide.bs.dropdown) event, which stops it from continuing on to the hidden (hidden.bs.dropdown) event.
The following code has been taken and edited by myself to make it work on all Bootstrap dropdowns, as it has originally been taken from here: Preventing bootstrap dropdown from closing on click I personally prefer this way also because it uses the built in Bootstrap dropdown events, which could be found here: https://getbootstrap.com/docs/3.4/javascript/#dropdowns-events.
$(function () {
$('.dropdown').on({
'click': function (event) {
if ($(event.target).closest('.dropdown-toggle').length) {
$(this).data('closable', true);
} else {
$(this).data('closable', false);
}
},
'hide.bs.dropdown': function (event) {
hide = $(this).data('closable');
$(this).data('closable', true);
return hide;
}
});
});
You can disable the dropdown functionality temporarily. This is a workaround.
Example with input field inside the drop-down "menu":
//for dropdown field not closing when clicking on inputfield
$(document).on('focus', 'input', function (e) {
// this attribute can be anything except "dropdown", you can leave it blank
$('#yourDropdownID').attr('data-toggle', 'off');
});
//for dropdown field back to normal when not on inputfield
$(document).on('focusout', 'input', function (e) {
$('#yourDropdownID').attr('data-toggle', 'dropdown');
});
This can be used on anything that is clickable and you can define individually what items clicked can close or not close the drop-down menu.
Not close in click out side menu
$(function() {
var closeble = false;
$('body').on('click', function (e) {
if (!$(event.target).is('a.dropdown-toggle')) {
closeble = false;
}
});
$('.dropdown').on({
'click': function (event) {
if ($(event.target).closest('.dropdown-toggle').length) {
closeble = true;
} else {
closeble = false;
}
},
'hide.bs.dropdown': function () {
return closeble;
}
});
});
