Can someone advise me on below Javascript -
1) How can I use the "Base" variable?
2) In callShowMsg function, a local variable "ns" is used to alias the namespace.
Is it possible to use a global variable to alias the namespace? It will avoid the need to declare local variable in each function.

something like this: (YUI with some fallback for custom namespace). Though I believe you do not have to "namespace" or reference the obj. Just refer to it as "this".
So, if you are within the obj, you can call the methods like so: this.showMsg('somevalue')

I dont think there is some function like namespace like you wrote above,

How can I use the "Base" variable?
That is going to depend on what value got returned by the namespace function. This is not a standard JS function and its probably specific to the libraries you are using so I cant answer.

You can also make ns into a local function instead of a global by putting it inside an initialization functions intead of putting it on the script toplevel. The most common way of doing that is using an immediately invoked anonymous function:

A prototype-less, new-less, one-instance-only javascript object?

It doesn't work because the addHandler can't see the this.handlers in genericClickHandler.
Anyway what I'm after is function that gets defined once, but has methods and properties. I want to be able to use the function with Google Maps like this:

circle.addListener("click", genericClickHandler)
polygons.addListener("click", genericClickHandler)
So in the first instance, it only reports the this and event object. However, I then want to write code which extends the genericClickHandler dynamically so that it can implement map-object-specific behaviour.

Get object caller name by function call JavaScript

I'm writing a piece of code to easily save error logs in an object for debugging.
What I'm trying to achieve is to get the Object name from the function it was called from like so:

After looking at Rhumborl's answer, I discovered that assigning the value through another function would lead it to point back at the function name without the object itself.
Code:

There is a non–standard caller property of functions that returns the caller function, however that is a pointer to a function object and doesn't tell you the object it was called as a method of, or the object's name. You can get a reference to the function through arguments.callee.
There is also the obsolete arguments.caller, but don't use that. It also provides a reference to the calling function (where supported).
Once you have a reference to the calling function (if there is one), you then have the issue of resolving its name. Given that Functions are Objects, and objects can be referenced by multiple properties and variables, the concept of a function having a particular name is alluvial.
However, if you know that the function is a property of some object, you can iterate over the object's own enumerable properties to find out which one it is.
But that seems to be a rather odd thing to do. What are you actually trying to do? You may be trying to solve a problem that can be worked around in a much more robust and simpler way.

You can do what you want in a very limited way using the method described above for the case in the OP, however it is not robust or a general solution:

JavaScript - reactivity

I have this code. It does that always when there is function, that is interested on some key in Session, it will be called whenever the key changed its value.
The problem is that to track what keys the function is interested, i need to run that function once and it can have some sideffects (if that function will manipulate DOM for instance). How can i run that function without affecting the current environment, if it is possible....?

So I refactored your code to achieve what I understood you wanted.
I first redefined Session and its getter/setter. I store the values in a literal object with the key to access it :

You need to nest two functions here, creating a new closure that captures the value of the variable (instead of the variable itself) at the moment the closure is created. You can do this using arguments to an immediately-invoked outer function. Replace this expression:

Note that we pass target into the outer function, which becomes the argument inner_target, effectively capturing the value of target at the moment the outer function is called. The outer function returns an inner function, which uses inner_target instead of target, and inner_target will not change.
(Note that you can rename inner_target to target and you will be okay -- the closest target will be used, which would be the function parameter. However, having two variables with the same name in such a tight scope could be very confusing and so I have named them differently in my example so that you can see what's going on.)

Since the only scoping that JavaScript has is function scope, you can simply move the closure to an external function, outside of the scope you're in.
Just to clarify on #BogdanRuzhitskiy answer (as I couldn't figure out how to add the code in a comment), the idea with using let is to create a local variable inside the for block:

Super in Backbone

When I override the clone() method of a Backbone.Model, is there a way to call this overriden method from my implantation? Something like this:

This will call the original clone() method from Backbone.Model with the context of this(The current model).

What's interesting is that class C's call to this._super("go1") scans the class hierarchy until it gets a hit in class A. Other solutions do not do this.
P.S. Uncomment the className entries of the class definitions to enable caching of the _super lookup. (The assumption is that these class names will be unique in the application.)

In the case that you don't know what the parent class is exactly (multiple inheritance or you want a helper function) then you can use the following:

Pass the parent class as an option during instantiation:

Then in your MyModel you can call parent methods like this
this.options.parent.method();
Keep in mind this creates a retain cycle on the two objects. So to let the garbage collector do it's job you would need to manually destroy the retain on one of the objects when finished with it. If you're application is pretty large. I would encourage you to look more into hierarchal setups so events can travel up to the correct object.
