When I add the unslider-arrows to the unslider banner it doesn't slide properly between images. When moving to the next image it resizes the image from small to full size starting at the top of the .banner div.
* Note: It only slides like this without any user input.
You can see this on the link that I have provided.

Since I am not a javascript guru I am not sure how to solve this. I don't think there is a problem with the css but I might be wrong. Here is the html and javascript for the banner and unslider-arrows
<div id="feature">
<div class="banner">
<div class="buttonPrev">
<img src="images/prev.png" />
</div>
<div class="buttonNext">
<img src="images/next.png" />
</div>
<div class="bottomBanner">
<h2>Serving the lower mainland<br />
for over twenty years
</h2>
</div>
<script>
var unslider = $('.banner').unslider();
$('.unslider-arrow').click(function() {
var fn = this.className.split(' ')[1];
// Either do unslider.data('unslider').next() or .prev() depending on the className
unslider.data('unslider')[fn]();
});
</script>
<ul>
<li><img src="images/knappen.jpg" /></li>
<li><img src="images/closeupChandelier.jpg" /></li>
<li class="listBg"><h3>Slide 3</h3></li>
</ul>
</div>
</div>
Here is the css
/*********banner********/
#feature{
margin-top: 60px;
margin-bottom: 60px;
position: relative;
height: 400px;
width: 100%;
background-color: #FFF;
}
.banner{
position: relative;
overflow: auto;
margin: 0 auto;
width: 800px;
height: 400px;
padding: 0px;
}
.banner ul{
padding: 0px;
margin: 0px;
list-style: none;
}
.banner li {
padding: 0px;
margin: 0px;
float: left;
height: 400px;
width: 800px;
}
.banner ul li img{
padding: 0px;
margin: 0px;
}
.buttonPrev {
z-index: 1;
position: absolute;
left: 3%;
top:180px;
width: 35px;
height:70px;
}
.buttonNext {
z-index: 1;
position: absolute;
right: 3%;
top:180px;
width: 35px;
height:70px;
}
.bottomBanner {
position:absolute;
z-index: 1;
bottom: 0px;
width: 800px;
height: 100px;
margin:0px;
padding:0px;
background-color: rgba( 255, 255, 255, 0.4);
}
.bottomBanner h2{
font-family: 'rockwell_stdlight', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
font-weight: lighter;
color: #4B4D4E;
font-size: 36px;
padding-left: 170px;
}
.listBg{
background:url(../images/herringbone-pattern.png);
background-repeat: repeat;
}
It looks like your <script> block is improperly nested. I tried out your code and was able to get it to work by moving the javascript instantiating the unslider() out of the "banner" div like so:
<div id="feature">
<div class="banner">
<div class="buttonPrev">
<img src="images/prev.png" />
</div>
<div class="buttonNext">
<img src="images/next.png" />
</div>
<div class="bottomBanner">
<h2>Serving the lower mainland<br />
for over twenty years
</h2>
</div>
<ul>
<li class="listBg"><h3>Slide 1</h3></li>
<li class="listBg"><h3>Slide 2</h3></li>
<li class="listBg"><h3>Slide 3</h3></li>
</ul>
</div>
</div>
<script type="text/javascript">
var unslider = $('.banner').unslider();
$('.unslider-arrow').click(function() {
var fn = this.className.split(' ')[1];
// Either do unslider.data('unslider').next() or .prev() depending on the className
unslider.data('unslider')[fn]();
});
</script>

And this is my JS for this part:
function openNav() {
document.getElementById("menu-mobile").style.width = "250px";
document.getElementById("menu-mobile-background").style.width = "100%";
}
function closeNav() {
document.getElementById("menu-mobile").style.width = "0px";
document.getElementById("menu-mobile-background").style.width = "0px";
}
The openNav and closeNav buttons works fine, but the paragraphs inside the navigation are being wrapped when the "menu-mobile" is being opened or is about to close. It's pure cosmetic issue, it just doesn't look good to me. Here are some photos of what i'm trying to say:
This is the menu-mobile when it's been already open by clicking the menu-button on the site.
And this is the menu-mobile after clicking the "x" when it's about to hide to the right.
Do you have any idea how can i make this text not wrap while closing?
The other thing is that i want to be able to close the menu also by clicking anywhere outside it. Does anybody know how can I achieve that? Do I have to use lot of js here?
You can also check the whole website here www.pozanprzeprowadzki.pl. The menu-mobile shows-up only on smaller window size.
Best regards and sorry if the whole topic is unclear. Please feel free to ask
Setting the text to white-space: nowrap will stop it from wrapping on dropdown-content-item-text and on the paragraph below the logo.
But then other things are getting squished which you need to give a fixed width to.
I think a better approach is to move the whole thing outside viewport would look better, something like this:
function openNav() {
document.getElementById("menu-mobile").style.transform = "translateX(0)";
document.getElementById("menu-mobile-background").style.width = "100%";
}
function closeNav() {
document.getElementById("menu-mobile").style.transform = "translateX(100vw)";
document.getElementById("menu-mobile-background").style.width = "0px";
}
I think you can swipe right menu because position is fix and you must set this css to body or parrent of menu-mobile div overflow-x: hidden;
function openNav() {
document.getElementById("menu-mobile").style.right= "0px";
}
function closeNav() {
document.getElementById("menu-mobile").style.right= "-250px";
}
So i have 4 different divs with buttons in them and I'm trying to set up so whenever one of those buttons are being clicked, it will overlap the other divs on the page.
I know it has something to do with z-index and positioning of the divs but I guess it needs to be added to the Jquery rather than the CSS?
I have checked out a previous code, where the divs overlap eachother vertically. Here's that code:
$('#divleft, #divmid, #divright').toggle(function () {
var cfg = {height:'200', width:'100%'};
$(this).css({'z-index':100});
var pct = $(this).css('left').split('p')[0]/$(document).width();
if(pct <= .33 && pct > 0){
cfg.left = '0';
$(this).data('oldLeft', "33%");
} else if(pct <= .66 && pct > .33) {
cfg.left = '0';
$(this).data('oldLeft', "66%");
}
$(this).animate(cfg)
}, function () {
var cfg= {height:'200', width:'33%', 'z-index':1};
if ($(this).data('oldLeft')) {
console.log($(this).data('oldLeft'));
cfg.left = $(this).data('oldLeft');
}
$(this).animate(cfg)
})
#divleft {
width:33.3%;
height:200px;
background:#ccc;
z-index: 1;
margin-top: 10px;
position: absolute;
left:0;
}
#divmid {
width:33.3%;
height: 200px;
background: #696;
margin-top: 10px;
z-index: 1;
position:absolute;
left:33%;
}
#divright {
width:33.3%;
height:200px;
background:#000;
margin-top: 10px;
z-index: 1;
position:absolute;
left:66%;
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div id="divleft"><p>Click Me!</p></div>
<div id="divmid"></div>
<div id="divright"></div>
What this code does is that it overlaps the divs using width 100%, vertically. I was just wondering how you would go about if you were to overlap the divs horizontally.
My code so far is this:
html, body {
width: 80%;
margin: 0 auto;
}
head {
text-align:left;
}
head, img {
width: 350px;
height: 100px;
float: left;
margin-bottom: 1%;
}
.container {
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
margin: 0 auto;
}
button {
background-color: #cccccc;
color: #000000;
cursor: pointer;
padding: 18px;
width: 100%;
border: none;
text-align: left;
padding-left: 15%;
outline: none;
font-size: 17px;
transition: 0.4s;
margin-top: 2%;
}
.icon {
width: 25px;
height: 25px;
padding-right: 15%;
float: right;
}
button.accordion.active, button.accordion:hover {
background-color: #ddd;
}
<div class="container">
<div id="first">
<button><h3>Random <img class ="icon" src="infoicon.png"></h3></button>
</div>
<div id="second">
<button><h3>Random <img class ="icon" src="infoicon.png"></h3></button>
</div>
<div id="third">
<button><h3>Random <img class ="icon" src="infoicon.png"></h3></button>
</div>
<div id="fourth">
<button><h3>Random <img class ="icon" src="infoicon.png"></h3></button>
</div>
<div id="last">
<button><h3>Random <img class ="icon" src="infoicon.png"></h3></button>
</div>
</div>
Thanks!
I think what you are trying to get it has more to do with relative height and absolute positioning than with the z-index property only.
Once the element div is clicked it has to cover the parent element. To do that you should put the container the position: relative property and the growing element as position: absolute and the height and width to 100% and positioning top and leftcoinciding with the parent (to 0). The button is inside that div (#first, #second, #third, #last) so it has to be also height: 100%
And finally you just set the z-index to ensure that the current button overlaps and cover the other buttons displayed.
$('.container div').click(function(event){
$(this).toggleClass('active');
})
html, body{
width: 80%;
margin: 0 auto;
}
head{
text-align:left;
}
head, img{
width: 350px;
height: 100px;
float: left;
margin-bottom: 1%;
}

width: 100%;
height: 100%;
margin: 0 auto;
position: relative;
}

background-color: #cccccc;

padding: 18px;

[EDIT]: You include jquery just before closing the body tag of your html document, and you write your javascript just bellow that. Like the following:
<body>
<!-- Here goes your page content -->
<!-- Here you include the jquery and any js you may need -->
<script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-3.2.1.min.js"></script>
<!-- Here goes custom jquery code -->
<script>
$('.btn').click( function(){
$(this).parent().addClass("active")
})
</script>
</body>
I suggest you check the Stackoverflow rules:
https://meta.stackexchange.com/questions/5234/how-does-accepting-an-answer-work?rq=1
Here is the simplified solution to your problem:
$('.btn').click( function(){
$(this).parent().addClass("active")
})
.elements-container {
position: relative;
}
.element {
float: left;
width: 25%;
background-color: grey;
text-align: center;
padding: 50px 0;
}
.element.active {
position: absolute;
top: 0;
left: 0;
width: 100%;
background-color: blue
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div class="elements-container">
<div class="element">
<button class="btn">Button 1</button>
</div>
<div class="element">
<button class="btn">Button 2</button>
</div>
<div class="element">
<button class="btn">Button 3</button>
</div>
<div class="element">
<button class="btn">Button 4</button>
</div>
</div>
I've just started to get into jQuery, so I apologise for the bad coding in advance. I just recognised that whenever I scroll a bit down so that just a bit of the jQuery image slider is visible on the top of the page, it scrolls me automatically back to top when the jQuery image slider changes the picture. But when I am as far down on the page that the slider isn't visible at all or when I barely scroll down so that the most part of the slider is still on the screen, it doesn't scroll me back to top.
I would appreciate any help since I am not able to find the issue.
Thanks in advance.

I applied jquery's click function to 'li#info' element. But when I click, it perform jquery to element of different parent also ('#theme div#info-overlay').
I want, whenever 'li#info' is clicked on the parent element('#theme') then it perform function to its child element only(div#info-overlay).
Like in the code, by clicking on 'Fe' it open overlay on both the block. But i want it to show overlay only to the block for which 'Fe'is clicked.
sorry, I am new in jquery.
I got your point. you just need to change one line of code
because both divs have same ids thats why both are appearing on click
and it's not a good practice to use same id multiple time on a single file.
it will make issue somewhere sometime.
i have change this line
$("div#info-overlay").toggle('100');
into this
$(this).parents('#theme').find("#info-overlay").toggle('100');
check this
JS Fiddle
use this to find div $(this).parents('#theme').find("#info overlay").toggle('100');
$(document).ready(function(){
$("div#theme").hover(function(){
$(".theme .header *").show();
$(".theme .header .overlay").hide();
},function(){
$(".theme .header *").hide();
});
$("li#info").click(function(){
$(".theme .header .overlay").hide();
$(this).parents('#theme').find("#info-overlay").toggle('100');
// $("div#info-overlay").toggle('100');
});
});

I'm new to javascript/jquery, and I'm building an image slider. I can't seem to get the images to animate. I'm not sure what's wrong here.
What I've been trying to do is to get the active slide then slide the next sibling and animate it, but all I get in result is that the first image animate then it stops.
Here is the code: https://jsfiddle.net/6qntgg5z/
<div id="container">
<header>
header is here
</header>
<div id="carousel">
<div class="sliderbuttons">
<input type="button" name="next" id="next" value=" > ">
<input type="button" name="next" id="prev" value=" < ">
</div>
<div class="slides">
<img src="http://www.planwallpaper.com/static/images/4-Nature-Wallpapers-2014-1_ukaavUI.jpg" alt="image1" class="slide active">
<img src="http://www.mrwallpaper.com/wallpapers/green-Rice-1600x900.jpg" alt="image2" class="slide">
<img src="http://cdn.wonderfulengineering.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/nature-wallpapers-10.jpg" alt="image3" class="slide">
</div>
</div>
</div>
CSS
html,body {
height: 100%;
position: relative;
}
*{
box-sizing: border-box;
}
#container {
width: 90%;
margin: 0 auto;
height: 100%;
}
header {
background: black;
height: 20px;
padding: 1.5em;
color: white;
}
#carousel {
position: relative;
margin: 0 auto;
width: 45%;
margin-top: 15px;
height: 100%;
}
.slide {
position: absolute;
max-width: 100%;
z-index: 0;
}
.sliderbuttons {
}
#prev,#next {
position: absolute;
background-color: rgba(255, 148, 41, 0.68);

/* font-family: 'Baloo Tamma', cursive;

width: 10%;
/*making the prev,next on top of content*/
z-index: 2;
}
#prev {
left:0;
}
#next {
right:0;
}
.active {
z-index: 1;
}
Javascript
$(document).ready(function(){
setInterval(animateSlider(), 5000);
});
//configuration
var currentSlide=activeSlide();
var slides=$("#carousel .slides .slide");
//get active slide index
function activeSlide(){
var activeSlide=$("#carousel .slides .active").index();
return activeSlide;
}
function animateSlider() {
var $current=slides.eq(activeSlide());
var $next= $(".slides img:first");
$next.addClass('active');
$current.animate({opacity: 0.0}, 1000,
function () {
$current.removeClass('active');
$current.css({opacity: 1.0});
});
try this fiddle (does what you need but has other flaws i think). in your html you used the '<' and '>' characters as your button text, this breaks the flow of the html so you should instead use character codes:
< becomes < and
> becomes > www.w3schools.com/html/html_entities.asp
also your js was missing a closing } and the jsfiddle was missing aa jquery library call (I wish jsfiddle would make it faster to integrate libraries). hope it helps.
$(document).ready(function(){
setInterval(function(){ animateSlider() }, 5000);
});
//configuration
var currentSlide = activeSlide();
var slides = $("#carousel .slides .slide");
//get active slide index
function activeSlide(){
var activeSlide=$("#carousel .slides .active").index();
return activeSlide;
}
function animateSlider() {
//remove active class from previous element and assign it to the current one then animate it using animate() function
var $current=slides.eq(activeSlide());
var $next= $(".slides img:first");
$next.addClass('active');
$current.animate({opacity: 0.0}, 1000, function () {
$current.removeClass('active');
$current.css({opacity: 1});
});
}
