JQuery: Grab DIV class onClick and mirror to textbox value - javascript

http://jsbin.com/OYodAvo/1/edit
Today I was wondering if there's a way to grab a div's class that's already been clicked and mirror the class name to a textbox and set it as the value.
If another div has been clicked, replace it with that one.
Is there anyway to do this in JQuery?
HTML:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>Grab Element's DIV</title>
<meta charset='utf-8'>
<meta name='viewport' content='initial-scale=1.0'>
<script type='text/javascript' src='http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.9.1.min.js'></script>
</head>
<body>
<div class="container">
<center>
<p>
Grab DIV Class Onclick: <input type="text" id="divclass" placeholder="show class name here" />
</p>
<div class="wrapper">
<div class="im-red"></div>
<div class="blue-foo"></div>
<div class="green-beans"></div>
</div>
</center>
</div>
</body>
</html>
JavaScript:
$(function() {
$(".wrapper div").click(function() {
});
});

I think you are looking for:
$(function() {
$(".wrapper div").click(function() {
$("#divclass").val($(this).attr('class'));
});
});
Live Demo

I'd suggest:
$('.wrapper div').click(function(){
$('#divclass').val(this.className);
});

get class using Ext.get() in extjs

Hello I am very new to ExtJs please help me knowing Ext.get()
This works:
Ext.get('tag2').hide(); // worked well on with Id
<div id ="tag2">using id</div><!--given with id-->
Now this is the problem
Ext.get('tag2').hide()//hiding only id not class
<div class ="tag2">using class</div><!--given with class-->
Doesn't work on class.
Take a look the complete code:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<link href="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/extjs/6.0.0/classic/theme-neptune/resources/theme-neptune-all.css" rel="stylesheet" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/extjs/6.0.0/ext-all.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
Ext.onReady(function(){
Ext.get('tag2').hide()//hiding only id not class
Ext.create('Ext.Button', {
renderTo: Ext.getElementById('helloWorldPanel'),
text: 'show',
listeners: {
click: function() {
this.hide();
},
hide: function() {
Ext.get('tag1').hide();
Ext.get('tag2').show();//not working hear
}
}
});
});
</script>
</head>
<body>
<div class ="tag1">Test Div</div>
<div class ="tag2">using class</div><!--given with class-->
<div id ="tag2">using id</div><!--given with id-->
<div id = 'helloWorldPanel' /> <!-- panel will be rendered here-- >
</body>
</html>
Use the following instead of get. Get accepts the id, for querying classes, you need to use select.
Ext.select('.tag2').hide();
UPDATED
Ext.get() is using ID to find element.
Ext.select(selector) - use this to access DOM element by class selector
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<link href="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/extjs/6.0.0/classic/theme-neptune/resources/theme-neptune-all.css" rel="stylesheet" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/extjs/6.0.0/ext-all.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
Ext.onReady(function(){
var tag = Ext.get('tag');
var tagTwo = Ext.select('.tag2');
console.log(tag);
console.log(tagTwo);
tag.hide(); // hide by ID
tagTwo.hide(); // hide all divs with tag2 class value
});
</script>
</head>
<body>
<div id="tag">Test Div</div>
<div class="tag2">Test Div2</div>
<div class="tag2">Test Div3</div>
</body>
</html>

Jquery clone and append to input value

Can anyone tell me how do you clone from a span element and append to input value by clicking the span element itself?
Here is the script.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$("span#username").click(function() {
$("span#username").clone().appendTo("#test");
});
});
</script>
</head>
<body>
<span id="username"> User </span><br><br>
<input type="text" id="test" value="" />
</body>
</html>
You have to set the value of the input (jQuery.val()) to the text content of the span (jQuery.text()) like this:
// IDs are enough
$("#username").click(function() {
$("#test").val($(this).text()); // this is the span beign clicked
});
No jQuery:
document.getElementById("username").addEventListener("click", function() {
document.getElementById("test").value = this.textContent;
});

jQuery add class when button is clicked

When i click one of the buttons i want the paragraphs to change size depending on the button i've clicked. That doesn't seem to work. I've checked everything and with my level of knowledge of jQuery (beginner ) i can't figure it out so i need your help. Here is the code:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="main.css">
</head>
<body>
<input type="button" id="smaller" value="smaller text" />
<input type="button" id="bigger" value="bigger text" />
<p > Some text inside of it.</p>
<p > Some text inside of it too!</p>
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="query.js"> </script>
</body>
</html>
jQuery
$('#bigger').click(function() {
$('p').addClass('.bigger');
});
$('#smaller').click(function() {
$('p').addClass('.smaller');
});
CSS
.bigger {
font-size:30px;
background-color:red;
}
.smaller {
font-size:10px;
}
Remove . from addClass() because the function already recognize the string like a class without specifiy the class selector.
try this:
$('#bigger').click(function() {
$('p').addClass('bigger'); //instead of .bigger
});
$('#smaller').click(function() {
$('p').addClass('smaller'); //instead of .smaller
});
DEMO
Remember $.addClass("bigger"); not $.addClass(".bigger");

jQuery on click move a div after() the parent

In the following code, how can I move the <div class="move">I was moved to the parent.</div> after the parent of the element I click, when I click Add New.
I have everything right, but I cannot do the part where I need to move it after() the parent.
Can you please help?
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">
<title>Side bar poll thingy</title>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://localhost/site/scripts/jQueryCore.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.add').click(function() {
$("#container").find('.flag, .edit, .delete').remove();
$(this).parent("div").after(".move");
});
});
</script>
</head>
<body>
<div id="container">
<div class="h1" data-id="1">Teachers <span class="add" data-id="US01">Add New</span></div>
<div class="h2" data-id="2">Who is your favorite Math teacher? <span class="add" data-id="US02">Add New</span></div>
<br>
<div class="h1" data-id="8">Restaurants <span class="add" data-id="US10">Add New</span></div>
<div class="h2" data-id="9">Which is your favourtie restaurant in town? <span class="add" data-id="US20">Add New</span></div>
<div class="move">I was moved to the parent.</div>
</div>
</body>
</html>
.after() doesn't accept selectors, currently you are inserting .move string after the selected element. You can use .insertAfter() method instead:
$(".move").insertAfter(this.parentNode);
http://jsfiddle.net/RYzpG/
try this fiddle http://jsfiddle.net/QP3MZ/
$(document).ready(function () {
$('.add').click(function () {
$("#container").find('.flag, .edit, .delete').remove();
var $move = $('#container .move');
$(this).parent("div").after($move);
});
});
This code should work.
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.add').click(function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
$("#container").find('.flag, .edit, .delete').remove();
$('.move').insertAfter($(this).parent());
//Or (Note we have to pass a jQuery element inside after, if we pass string then it will copy the string instead)
//$(this).parent('div').after($('.move'));
});
});
Also here is a jsfiddle. The reason why yours wasn't working is you are passing a string inside the .after, which jQuery would treat as an HTML string. You had to pass a jQuery element or DOM element. See it here.

Jquery Toggle Link Color

I am using Cufon and I have my navigation and all of my content is on one page and it is scrolling via anchor tag to that section of the page, yet the navigation stays visible I want when you click a link that link will light up:
Here is what I have so far:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>Untitled Document</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css"/>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="cufon-yui.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="Veneer_400.font.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
Cufon.replace('h1 a', {
hover: true
});
</script>
<style type="text/css">
h1 a.selected {
color: red;
}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<div class="home-link"><h1><a class="selected" href="#home">Home</a></h1></div>
<div class="hiw-link"><h1><a class="" href="#howitworks">How It Works</a></h1></div>
<div class="faq-link"><h1><a class="" href="#faq">Faq</a></h1></div>
<div class="prize-link"><h1><a class="" href="#prizes">Prizes</a></h1></div>
<div class="media-link"><h1><a class="" href="#media">Media</a></h1></div>
<div class="rules-link"><h1><a class="" href="#rules">Rules</a></h1></div>
<script type="text/javascript">
$('#home-link','#hiw-link','#faq-link','#prize-link','#media-link','#rules-link').toggleClass(selected, addOrRemove);
</script>
</body>
</html>
So basically as you see I am just trying to add the class of selected to the anchor tag and remove it from everything else so only that link is red. Help is greatly appreciated.
jsBin demo
$('div[class$=link] h1 a').click(function(e){
e.preventDefault();
$('div[class$=link] h1 a').removeClass('selected');
$(this).addClass('selected');
Cufon.refresh(); // Will refresh all `Cufon` text
});
Since you are using Cufon text so you need to call Cufon.refresh(); after you change any class to Cufon text, otherwise it won't take effect.
$('div[class$=link] h1 a').click(function(e){
e.preventDefault();
$('div[class$=link] h1 a').removeClass('selected');
$(this).addClass('selected');
Cufon.refresh(); // Will refresh all `Cufon` text
});
You are using the ID selectors, instead you should be using the class selectors (since you have home-link etc assigned to class attribute and not id attribute of the div elements)
Try this:
var selected = "selected"; //Assuming you are storing it in a variable
$(function(){
var allLinks = $('.home-link,.hiw-link,.faq-link,.prize-link,.media-link,.rules-link');
allLinks.click(function(e){
allLinks.find("h1 > a").removeClass(selected);
$(this).find("h1 > a").addClass(selected);
});
});
