Javascript refresh query database? - javascript

This is the website:
enter link description here
Right now this is the function:
$("a.wtf").click(function(){
//get the id
the_id = $(this).attr('id');
// show the spinner
$(this).parent().html("<img src='images/thanks.fw.png'/>");
//the main ajax request
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
data: "action=wtf&id="+$(this).attr("id"),
url: "votes.php",
success: function(msg)
{
$("span#votes_count"+the_id).fadeOut();
$("span#votes_count"+the_id).html(msg);
$("span#votes_count"+the_id).fadeIn();
$("span#vote_buttons"+the_id).remove();
}
});
});
And this is the rest:
<a href='javascript:;' class='wtf' id='".$list['id']."'>
Rephrased:
Right now, it displays an image after a user VOTES "WTF".
How would I replace the Vote link with new text displaying the new value of the WTF vote (probably a result of the query)

Once you send the votes.php, hope you are update or insert the new vote, if is happenings like what i mention in this means , you also fetch the newly inserted or updated values from db then return to the callback function
Example :
$total_votes=100;
$reuslut=$total."-".'Thanks for vote';
echo $result;
exit;
in call back function :
---------------------
success: function(msg)
{
var value=msg.split("-");
$("span#votes_count"+the_id).fadeOut();
$("span#votes_count"+the_id).html(value[1]);
$("span#votes_count"+the_id).fadeIn();
$("span#vote_buttons"+the_id).remove();
$(selector).html(value[1]);
}
Hope it will help you for your question

Remember the state of clicked button with AJAX

I have different cards displayed on an app, the information is coming from the database in a loop. I have the option to put a 'redeem button' on cards if it's something a user can use just once. When the user clicks the redeem button, I get in the database the information (card name, clientID). Then, I made another AJAX call to get the information from the database and what I want is to check if the clientID and the carndame are already in the database then delete it just for that user. I don't wanna use localStorage or cookies because if the user delete the cookies they would see the card again and I don't want this to happen.
-- AJAX CALL TO POST --
$(`#promotion-container .promo${i} .redddButt`).click(function(e){
e.stopPropagation();
var esc = $.Event("keyup", { keyCode: 27 });
$(document).trigger(esc);
$('#deletePromo').on('click', function(){
if (eventName && customerID)
$(`#promotion-container .promo${i}`).remove() // this removes it but if you reload the page it appears again.
})
$('#just-claimed-popup2').addClass('reveal');
var theDiv = document.getElementById("card-just-claimed");
var content = document.createTextNode(eventName);
theDiv.appendChild(content);
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: '/api/promotions_redemption',
crossDomain: true,
dataType: 'json',
data: {
eventName : eventName,
dateReedem : dateReedem,
}
});
})
--AJAX CALL TO GET INFO FROM DATABASE --
let success = function(res, eventName) {
let cardData = res['cardData'] //cardData is the info from database
for(i=0; i<cardData.length; i++){
let nameEvent = cardData[i]['event_name']
let customerID = cardData[i]['customer_id']
let clicked_button = cardData[i]['clicked_button']
let eventName1 = promotions['event_name'] // getting the names of all cards displayed
if(customerID && nameEvent == eventName1){
$(`#promotion-container .promo${i}`).remove(); // HERES THE PROBLEM
}
}
}
$.ajax({
type: 'GET',
url: '/api/promotions-check',
crossDomain: true,
dataType: 'json',
success: success,
});
The problem is that my conditional on my GET call is successful but it forgets the id of the card, meaning that when I try to console.log the id of the promo it comes as 0, instead of the actual number, so it's forgetting the information of the cards rendered and don't know what to delete.
What would be the best way to achieve the card to be deleted? Do I need to do it in the click event too? and if yes, can I have 2 Ajax calls in the same function?
If you change the approach you would be able to achieve this more easily. When you send a post request to delete the item or redeem the code in your case, upon success return same data and upon some condition just delete the item from DOM. On page load it shouldn't load whichever was redeemed.
I personally don't see a point of doing another GET to delete the code which was redeemed.
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: '/api/promotions_redemption',
crossDomain: true,
dataType: 'json',
data: {
eventName : eventName,
dateReedem : dateReedem,
},
success: function(result){
//on success, ie when the item is deleted -> delete from the DOM.
}
});

Not receiving data from ajax to php

I want to send data from javascript to another php page where I want to display it. I found that I need to use Ajax to pass the data to php so I tried myself.
My file where is the javascript:
$('#button').on('click', function () {
$.jstree.reference('#albero').select_all();
var selectedElmsIds = [];
var selectedElmsIds = $('#albero').jstree("get_selected", true);
var i = 0;
$.each(selectedElmsIds, function() {
var nomenodo = $('#albero').jstree('get_selected', true)[i].text;
//var idnodo = selectedElmsIds.push(this.id);
var livellonodo = $('#albero').jstree('get_selected', true)[i].parents.length;
//console.log("ID nodo: " + selectedElmsIds.push(this.id) + " Nome nodo: " + $('#albero').jstree('get_selected', true)[i].text);
//console.log("Livello: " + $('#albero').jstree('get_selected', true)[i].parents.length);
i++;
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
data: { 'namenodo': nomenodo,
'levelnodo': livellonodo
},
success: function(data)
{
$("#content").html(data);
}
});
});
});
I want to send the data to another php page which consists of:
<?php echo $_POST["namenodo"]; ?>
But when I try to go to the page there's no data displayed.
This is a very basic mistake I think every beginner (including me) does while posting a data using ajax to another php page.
Your ajax code is actually posting the data to lamiadownline.php (if you are using the variables correctly) but you can't get that data by simply using echo.
Ajax post method post data to your php page (lamiadownline.php) but when you want to echo the same data on the receiver page (lamiadownline.php), you are actually reloading the lamiadownline.php page again which makes the $_POST["namenodo"] value null.
Hope this will help.
First of all you won't be able to see what you have post by browsing to that page.
Secondly, is this
<?php echo $_POST["namenodo"]; ?>
in the current page?
Otherwise, specify the url
$.ajax({
url: "lamiadownline.php",
type: "POST",
data: { 'namenodo': nomenodo,
'levelnodo': livellonodo},
success: function(data) {
$("#content").html(data);
}
});
//try this
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url:"Your_php_page.php"
data: { namenodo: nomenodo levelnodo: livellonodo},
success: function(data)
{
$("#content").html(data);
}
});

Cannot pass JS variable to PHP using AJAX

I am trying to get current location of user.
I have JS script to get current Latitude and Longitude with AJAX to send js variables to index.php.
$(document).ready(function() {
if ("geolocation" in navigator){
navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(function(position){
var userLat = position.coords.latitude;
var userLong = position.coords.longitude;
console.log(userLong);
console.log(userLat);
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: 'index.php',
data: {
userLat : userLat,
userLong : userLong
},
success: function(data)
{
console.log(data);
}
});
});
}else{
console.log("Browser doesn't support geolocation!");
}});
Then I am trying to do this in my index.php:
echo $_POST['userLat'];
echo $_POST['userLong'];
Nothing shows up. Thanks in advance.
Nothing shows up.
And that's correct you will never get any thing by browsing index.php because there is no POST at this time , AJAX is internal and the only way to show a result from index.php is in the page that you send from it an ajax call.
At this :
success: function(data)
{
console.log(data);
}
you could control where to show your data that comes from index.php by , for example alert(data) or document.getElementById("someelement").innerHTML=data; and so on.
It might help to define and return a dataType for the ajax.
add this to your list of ajax options
dataType: 'json',
Then in index.php encode and echo a json string. Remove the lines
echo $_POST['userLat'];
echo $_POST['userLong'];
replace them with
echo json_encode($_POST);
The console.log(data); in the success function should show an object with two items: 'userlat' and 'userLong' and associated values for each. Or it should if $_POST had those two items.
If you want the browser screen to update you will have to take data and use it to modify the DOM.

JQuery / AJAX delete item from database

I'm trying to make a CRUD in jquery/ajax/php for learning purposes.
But I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong with the delete part.
My goal is to delete an record from the database without refreshing the page.
Ajax function:
$(document).on('click', '.deleteOrder', function(e){
var id = $(this).attr('id');
console.log('Clicked order: ' + id);
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: 'orders/deleteorder/',
data: {
orderId: id
},
success: function(data){
updateOrder(e);
},
error: function(){
console.log('error');
}
});
});
Php function:
public function deleteOrder(){
$orderId = $_POST['id'];
$count=$this->connection->prepare("DELETE FROM orders WHERE orderNumber = :number");
$count->bindParam(":number",$orderId,PDO::PARAM_INT);
$count->execute();
echo 'Finished order ' . $orderId;
}
First check the delete function called or not through ajax, in browser Network tab (you see this when clicking F12 button in browser)
you did not call deleteOrder function .

how to pass php value from one file to another through java script

I am working with Concrete-5 CMS, I have an issue in passing value form view to controller.In my application I am using following code for displaying employee role.
foreach($rd as $data){
echo "<tr><td>".$data[role_name]."</td><td>".$data[role_description]."</td><td>Edit</td><td>".$ih->button_js(t('Delete'), "deleteRole('".$data['role_id']."')", 'left', 'error')."</td></tr>";
}
<input type="hidden" name="rno" id="rno" />
script:
$delConfirmJS = t('Are you sure you want to remove this Role?'); ?>
<script type="text/javascript">
function deleteRole(myvar) {
var role = document.getElementById('rno');
role.value = myvar;
if (confirm('<?php echo $delConfirmJS ?>')) {
$('#rolelist').submit();
//location.href = "<?php echo $this->url('/role/add_role/', 'delete', 'myvar')?>";
}
}
</script>
html code
I did edit operation by passing role_id through edit action. But, In case of delete i should ask for a conformation, so I use java script to conform it and call the href location and all.
But i don't know how to pass the role_id to script and pass to my controller. how to achieve this task?
thanks
Kumar
You can pass value to server using ajax calls.
See the following code. Here We use a confirm box to get user confirmation.
function deleteEmployee(empId){
var confirm=confirm("Do you want to delete?");
if (confirm)
{
var url = "path/to/delete.php";
var data = "emp_id="+empId;
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "otherfile.php",
data: data ,
success: function(){
alert("Employee deleted successfully.");
}
});
}
}
In delete.php you can take the employee id by using $_POST['emp_id']
You can do it easily by using jquery
var dataString = 'any_variable='+ <?=$phpvariable?>;
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "otherfile.php",
data: dataString,
success: function(msg){
// msg is return value of your otherfile.php
}
}); //END $.ajax
I would add an extra variable in to the delete link address. Preferrably the ID of the row that you need to be deleted.
I don't know Concrete-5 CMS. But, i am giving you the general idea
I think, you are using some button on which users can click if they want to delete role.
<td>".$ih->button_js(t('Delete'), "deleteRole('".$data['role_id']."')", 'left', 'error')."</td>
My suggestion,
add onClick to button
onClick="deleteEmployee(roleId);" // roleId - dynamic id of the role by looping over
Frankly speaking dude, i dont know how you will add this to your button that i guess there would surely be some way to simply add this to existing html.
And now, simply use Sajith's function
// Sajith's function here
function deleteEmployee(empId){
var confirm=confirm("Do you want to delete?");
if (confirm){
var url = "path/to/delete.php";
var data = "emp_id="+empId;
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "otherfile.php",
data: data ,
success: function(){
alert("Employee deleted successfully.");
}
});
}
}
