I have an strange problem with Ajax.
var base_url = 'https//m4th.nl/'; // Alle groepen van deze school ophalen
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
async: false,
url: base_url + "rapportage/get/groups/",
success: function(data) {
$.each($.parseJSON(data), function(i, item) {
$('select[name="leerling-groep"]').append('<option value="' + item.id + '">' + item.naam + '</option>');
});
}
});
But in my console i get this error:
"NetworkError: 404 Not Found - https://m4th.nl/rapportage/https//m4th.nl/rapportage/get/groups/"
Very strange because input of the url is ok but the code duplicate the url.
Does somebody know what i did wrong?
Thanks!
change this line
var base_url = 'https//m4th.nl/';
to
var base_url = 'https://m4th.nl/';
you are missing the colon after https making the browser to think of the base url as extension -url

I started to develop an app with Cordova for android and I'm now searching around google for a solution(Whitelist) to get the JSON data from the URL.But I cannot find a simple tutorial. Most of the tutorials I found are not so beginner friendly. I'm thinking about trying to get the JSON data with pure javascript, but I think it's not a good idea. Are there some simple tips or tutorial that can solve this problem? I love to hear from you!
Like this? Assuming that hello.php returns your JSON data.
$.ajax({
url: "yourwebsite.com/hello.php",
type: 'GET',
dataType: 'json',
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
success: function (arr) {
_getdata(arr);
},
error: function () {
validationMsg();
}
});
function _getdata(arr){
//your JSON resuls are now in arr. Do what you need with the array.
}
This example could be very helpful.
You should try ajax calls in order to fetch data from the server, jQuery makes it very easy. Here is the function used in the example that loads the data from the server :
function getEmployeeList() {
$('#busy').show();
$.getJSON(serviceURL + 'getemployees.php', function(data) {
$('#busy').hide();
$('#employeeList li').remove();
employees = data.items;
$.each(employees, function(index, employee) {
$('#employeeList').append('<li><a href="employeedetails.html?id=' + employee.id + '">' +
'<img src="pics/' + employee.picture + '" class="list-icon"/>' +
'<p class="line1">' + employee.firstName + ' ' + employee.lastName + '</p>' +
'<p class="line2">' + employee.title + '</p>' +
'<span class="bubble">' + employee.reportCount + '</span></a></li>');
});
setTimeout(function(){
scroll.refresh();
});
});
}
I hope it help.
fetch('/echo/json', {
method: 'get'
}).then((JSONresponse) => {
// do whatever you want with your
// JSONresponse here
})
I have a problem with my code, it's a like button. It shows the number of likes. If user haven't voted yet (cookie) he can click and counter increases. Problem is counter doesn't update on first click (if i deactivate cookie check and vote several times) on next refresh is everything updated. It seems some count happens before insert in the backend. I suppose probem is in JavaScript, ajax post cross domain works but gives error that's why "error: setCookieAndUpdateButton()"
here is my frontend code:
<script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.1.min.js"></script>
<script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-migrate-1.2.1.min.js"></script>
<div><a id="like_button" href="#">Like</a></div>
<script>
var url = "http://thumbs-up.some-server.com/";
var appName = "next_test";
document.write("<script src=\"" + url + "jquery.cookie.js\"><\/script>");
$(document).ready(function(){
updateButton();
$("#like_button").click(function(){
if ($.cookie(appName + "_voted") == "true") {return;}
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
dataType: "json",
crossDomain: true,
url: url + "increase_counter.php",
data: {referrer: appName},
success: setCookieAndUpdateButton(),
error: setCookieAndUpdateButton()
});
});
});
function setCookieAndUpdateButton()
{
updateButton();
$.cookie(appName + "_voted", "true", {expires: 20*365});
}
function updateButton()
{
$.ajax({
type: "GET",
async: false,
contentType: "application/json",
dataType: "jsonp",
jsonpCallback: 'callback4jquery',
url: url + "get_counter_for_referrer.php",
data: {referrer: appName},
success: function (json) {
if ($.cookie(appName + "_voted") != "true"){
$("#like_button").html("<a id=\"like_button\" href=\"#\"><img src=\"" + url + "like.png\">Good to know " + json.count + "x</a>")
}
else{
$("#like_button").html("<span id=\"like_button\"><img src=\"" + url + "like.png\">Good to know " + json.count + "x</span>");
$('#like_button').unbind('click');
}
}
});
}
</script>
In first ajax call change your code like this:
success: setCookieAndUpdateButton,
error: setCookieAndUpdateButton
without () in both of them
I could use another pair of eyes. This script does what I want in Chrome (renders a gallery of images from a google picasa web album), but doesn't render anything in IE8, can anyone see anything obvious?
$(function () {
var json_Photo_URI = "https://picasaweb.google.com/data/feed/base/user/111727095210955830593/albumid/5420114965919213729?alt=json&fields=entry(title, media:group)&thumbsize=75"
$.ajax({
type: 'GET',
url: json_Photo_URI,
success: function (data) {
var photo_URL = "";
var photo_Thumb_Url = "";
$.each(data.feed.entry, function (i, item) {
$.each(item.media$group.media$content, function (i, item) { photo_URL = item.url; });
$.each(item.media$group.media$thumbnail, function (i, item) { photo_Thumb_URL = item.url; });
var photo_Description = item.media$group.media$description.$t;
$('#gallery').append("<a href='" + photo_URL + "' title='" + photo_Description + "'><img src='" + photo_Thumb_URL + "'></a>");
});
$('#gallery a').lightBox({ txtImage: 'Photo', txtOf: '/' });
}, dataType: 'json'
});
});
Replace:
dataType : 'json'
with
dataType : 'jsonp'
See: http://jsfiddle.net/b36v5/2/
It's about cross domain AJAX requests. The site you are trying to access correctly sets the access-control-allow-origin: * response header in order to allow AJAX requests for browsers that support CORS. And IE supports CORS, partially. In fact in IE in order to support CORS you have to use a different object called XDomainRequest as explained in the following blog post in order to achieve cross domain requests. Except that jQuery.ajax doesn't support it out of the box. And if you look more carefully in the bug ticket you will see that it is closed because there are plugins that allow to achieve that.
I am debugging my solution on localhost and this piece of code is not hitting the server
var cartInfo = $j("#ctl00_BaseContentPlaceHolder_ctl00_updateShoppingCart").html();
var dataString = 'name=' + name.val() + '&email=' + email.val() + '&phone=' + phone.val() + '&date=' + date.val() + '&cart=' + cartInfo;
$j.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "LightBoxContactSender.aspx",
data: dataString,
success: OnSuccess,
error: OnError
});
What am I missing here?
the are 2 potential problems
the url
the data
aspx assumes webforms, the page life cycle, etc. when all you want is to send response and get a reply. instead try targeting either a
web service (asmx)
generic handler (ashx)
a static pagemethod think ajax server hanlders embedded within a page object
second is the data. instead of passing a string as the data try passing a json object
data = {
name: "john",
email: "john#email.com",
...
}
Since you are passing the cartInfo as an html, it should be url encoded before it is posted. I think this is wat causing this issue. Try this
var cartInfo =
$j("#ctl00_BaseContentPlaceHolder_ctl00_updateShoppingCart").html();
var dataString = 'name=' + name.val()
+ '&email=' + email.val()
+ '&phone=' + phone.val()
+ '&date=' + date.val()
+ '&cart=' + encodeURIComponent(cartInfo);
$j.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "LightBoxContactSender.aspx",
data: dataString,
success: OnSuccess,
error: OnError
});
As suggested by in other answer you can also pass data as a key/value pair object to ajax method, jQuery will take care the rest but you still have to encode the html content.
Url Doesnt call any method ?
url: "LightBoxContactSender.aspx",
If yoy are trying to call a WebMethod inside aspx
url :"LightBoxContactSender.aspx/callStaticMethod",
Try to form Data as
dataString = "{'name=' + '"+name.val()+"'}"
I have the following code:
var src, flickrImages = [];
$.ajax({
type: "GET",
url: "http://api.flickr.com/services/rest/?method=flickr.photos.search&api_key=bf771e95f2c259056de5c6364c0dbb62&text=" + xmlTitle.replace(' ', '%20') + "&safe_search=1&per_page=5&format=json",
dataType: "json",
statusCode: {
404: function() {
alert('page not found');
}
},
success: function(data) {
$.each(data.photos.photo, function(i,item){
src = "http://farm"+ item.farm +".static.flickr.com/" + item.server + "/" + item.id + "_" + item.secret + "_s.jpg";
flickrImages[i] = '<img src="' + src + '">';
});
}
});
// undefined returned here for flickrImages
map.setZoom(13);
map.setCenter(new google.maps.LatLng(xmlLat,xmlLng));
infowindow.setContent('<strong>' + xmlTitle + '</strong><br>' + xmlExcerpt + '<br><br>' + flickrImages.join(''));
infowindow.open(map,this);
I am trying to access flickrImages variable outside the ajax so I am able to put it inside a infowindow for google maps. Unfortunately outside the ajax it returns undefined.
I tried moving the flickr things into the ajax but unfortunately it then loses some of the other information such as xmlTitle and xmlExcerpt.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Dave.
The reason why flickrImages is undefined where your comment is, is because the call to $.ajax is asynchronous, which means it does not block until your request completes.
That's why there is a success function that gets "called back" when the underlying HTTP request completes. So, you need to handle your flickrImages variable from your success function, or alternatively, from your success function, pass flickrImages to some other function which does your processing.
The ajax call is asynchronous, so it won't wait around for an answer - it will just go ahead and run the rest of the script. Passing async:false in the settings (see http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.ajax/) should solve your problem, though it will make it a lot slower as the script will have to wait for the ajax call to return.
It would be neater for the rest of the script to be called from the success callback as you tried to do - how is it that xmlTitle and xmlExcerpt are unavailable there?
Define a global variable outside of your ajax call and assign it a value
var myData
$.ajax({
type: "GET",
url: "http://api.flickr.com/services/rest/?method=flickr.photos.search&api_key=bf771e95f2c259056de5c6364c0dbb62&text=" + xmlTitle.replace(' ', '%20') + "&safe_search=1&per_page=5&format=json",
dataType: "json",
statusCode: {
404: function() {
alert('page not found');
}
},
success: function(data) {
myData = data
myFunction()
}
});
As said by Karl Agius a "The ajax call is asynchronous". For this you just have to add
async: false,
to your ajax request. Here is you code looks after adding this:
$.ajax({
type: "GET",
url: "http://api.flickr.com/services/rest/?method=flickr.photos.search&api_key=bf771e95f2c259056de5c6364c0dbb62&text=" + xmlTitle.replace(' ', '%20') + "&safe_search=1&per_page=5&format=json",
dataType: "json",
async: false,
statusCode: {
404: function() {
alert('page not found');
}
},
success: function(data) {
$.each(data.photos.photo, function(i,item){
src = "http://farm"+ item.farm +".static.flickr.com/" + item.server + "/" + item.id + "_" + item.secret + "_s.jpg";
flickrImages[i] = '<img src="' + src + '">';
});
}
});
But its not a good practice to stop asynchronous in ajax call. But will work for you. Use Ajax callback on success instead (check here).
Here is another option. You create a function that return an ajax call like this.
function flickrImages (){
return $.ajax({
type: "GET",
url: "http://api.flickr.com/services/rest/?method=flickr.photos.search&api_key=bf771e95f2c259056de5c6364c0dbb62&text=" + xmlTitle.replace(' ', '%20') + "&safe_search=1&per_page=5&format=json",
dataType: "json"
});
}
Then on your code somewhere, you call this function an retrieve the success or in my case the .done() function like this
var result= flickrImages ();
flickrImages = [];
result.done(function(data){
$.each(data.photos.photo, function(i,item){
src = "http://farm"+ item.farm +".static.flickr.com/" + item.server + "/" + item.id + "_" + item.secret + "_s.jpg";
flickrImages[i] = '<img src="' + src + '">';
});
});
console.log (flickrImages);
