Passing the JavaScript variable into HTML - javascript

My JavaScript code is:

I want to display the value of each array item one by one on button click the div.
But when i click the button, the array[0] i.e "Audi" is displayed but just for fraction of seconds. then it disappears and only the button is visible.

You can use a loop like:-

You're almost there. Since the JS code was located before the HTML, the button element still doesn't exist. Best just wrap the code with window.onload and it should work:

Edit: just noticed your button doesn't have type. This means that some browsers might make it a submit button by default, which will cause a page reload. To avoid it, make it a plain button:

Get JavaScript Object

I am working client side on a web page that I am unable to edit.
I want to use JS to click on a particular button, but it does not have a unique identifier.
I do know the class and I do know a (unique) string in the innerHTML that I can match with, so I am iterating through the (varying number) of buttons with a while loop looking for the string:

Now I should know the correct position in the array of buttons (buttonNum-1, I think), but how do I reference this? I have tried:

and variation on the position of ()'s in the eval, but I can't get it to work.
You could try something like:

You don't need the eval, but you can check all the buttons one by one and just click the button immediately when you find it so you don't have to find it again.
It is not as elegant as what #Shilly suggested, but probably more easily understood if you are new to javascript.

I would stay clear of eval here, what if the text on the button is some malicious javaScript?
Can you use jQuery? if so, check out contains. You can use it like so:
$(".streamButton:contains('720p')")

Looping inside jQuery function only issue

I'm having some trouble with jQuery in Meteor - I'm just trying to learn so I hope someone could help.
So when #addButton is clicked it will append the div to the .formField and each div created on click will have an unique class, eg formField[1], formField[2] etc
The trouble is when the button is clicked instead of just changing the name of the div only, the div is also added 50 times. I know how dumb it sounds as its a loop, but how would I loop only the div's class on click so each have a different name?

If I understand what you are doing here you don't need a loop. You just need a variable to increment every time the button is clicked. Take your append out of the loop and instead on click increment your variable by one then call an append. No loop necessary.

Passing variable from function in javascript

I'm trying to take text as input from user and split into array and pass it.

All your funky() function does is split the string into an array and nothing more - you need to make your for loop part of funky() and see what happens.
You assign a value to array when the button is clicked.
You try to process that data into ACL1 and ACL2 and write them to the page while the document loads.
The button won't be clicked before the document loads.
Move the for loop inside the funky function
Get rid of your document.write scripts.
Replace them with div elements (or some other container that is more semantically appropriate).
Modify the funky function to add the content to the page once it is populated the variables
Find the element you want to put the content in (e.g. with document.getElementById or document.querySelector)
Put the content inside it (e.g. with document.createTextNode and document.appendChild

difference between calling javascript function on body load or directly from script

i am using a javascript where in i am creating multiple div (say 5) at runtime, using javascript function, all the divs contain some text, which is again set at runtime, now i want to disable all the divs at runtime and have the page numbers in the bottom, so that whenever user clicks on the page number only that div should get visible else other should get disable, i have created a function, which accepts parameter, as page number, i enable the div whose page number is clicked and using a for loop, i disable all the other divs, now here my problem is i have created two functions, 1st (for adding divs and disabling all the divs except 1st) and writing content to it, and other for enabling the div whose page number is clicked, and i have called the Adding div function on body onload; now first time when i run, page everthing goes well, but next time when i click on any of the page number, it just gets enabled and again that AddDiv function, runs and re-enables all the divs..
Please reply why this is happening and how should i resolve my issue...

Try adding return false; to the page link to prevent the page from being reloaded.

Your page links are reloading the page. You just have to change one line and your script works ok.

Javascript - Dynamically assign onclick event in the loop

I have very simple html page with js code:

That page binds 10 buttons, but when you click on any button it always shows alert "option9". How is it possible assign onclick event to show correspondent option !?

You'll have to do something like this:

Consider the fact that when the onclick() function is executed, all it has is:
showParam(optionPar);
, verbatim. The optionPar will be resolve at the time the click event is executed, and at this point it most likely be the latest value you assigned to it. You should generally avoid passing variables in such a way.
The problem you are trying to solve is best solved by re-writing the piece such as:

The accepted answer seems to work, but seems to be confusing and a somewhat cumbersome way to do it. A better way perhaps might be to use the data attribute for the element you're looking to assign the event listener for. It's simple, easy to understand, and way less code. Here's an example:

Let me try to explain, the issue here is classical missing closure.
The variable 'i' is getting increased by 1 per loop iteration,
and the on-click event actually is not being executed, whether only applied to the a element, it getting summarize up to the length of arrOptions which is 10.
So, the loop continues up until 'i' is 10,
Then, whenever the on-click event is being triggered, it takes the value of i which is 10.
now, for the solution,
in the solution we are using a closure, so that when we apply the value of 'i' to the on-click event of the a element, it actually gets the exact value of i at in time.
The inner function of the onclick event create a closure where it references the parameter (arrOptions[i]), meaning what the actual i variable is at the right time.
The function eventually closes with that value safely,
and can then return its corresponding value when the on-click event is being executed.
You pass just the reference of the variable to the function, not it's value. So every time the loop is iterated, it assigns a reference to your anonymous function and all of them point to the same value in memory. But since you use the same variable name in the loop, you overwrite the value of the variable. You can concatenate the variable to a string to preserve it's value. For example like that:

The first parameter is the name of the function but afaik it is optional (it can be left blank or omitted at all).
