jquery selection attributes - javascript

Let's say I have a sample table like this :
http://jsfiddle.net/65BkH/
Now what i want is, if there is this <button id="invite">Invite</button>. I want this button to select the "invite url" of the selected contact. If you see the jsfiddle, if you click the checkbox, it will crop all the others contacts. How could i do that?
I've tried to target the contact, but i can only get the top contact.
$('#linkedin_match tbody .match .m a').attr('href');
what i want is to target the currently selected.
FURTHER PROBLEM :
This button I'm talking about is not the table per say.
$('#btn_save').click(function(e) {
var hrefVar = $('#linkedin_match tbody .match .m').find('a').attr('href');
alert(hrefVar);
});
Now if i used that, it still searches for the first link, even though i've selected the others. So, any changes?.

You can use this:
$('#invite').on('click',function(){
var url = $this.closest('tr').find('a').prop('href');
});
To get all the checked href related with the checked inputs in a array use this:
$('#invite').on('click', function () {
var all_url = [];
$('input:checked').each(function () {
var url = $(this).closest('tr').find(' td.m a').prop('href');
all_url.push(url);
});
});
Demo here

$('.m').click(function(e){
var hrefVar = $(this).find('a').attr('href');
alert(hrefVar);
});

Add class to link slug based off array of slugs

I am creating a recipe tool that takes a user's input via selected checkboxes. See here: zelda.wptoolkit.us
Part One:
I have a script that will create an array of slugs based off of the selected input values. When a user clicks a checkbox, the associated slug is added to an array called checkedAttr.
<script>
var checkedAttr = [];
$('#wp-advanced-search :checkbox').change(function()
{
checkedAttr = [];
$('#wp-advanced-search :checkbox').each(function(i, item){
if($(item).is(':checked'))
{
checkedAttr.push($(item).val());
}
});
console.log("checkedAttr:", checkedAttr);
});
</script>
Part Two:
I am trying to use the code below to .addClass to any links that contain a slug found in the array from part one.
The link structure: http://zelda.wptoolkit.us/tag/any-crab/
The code:
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery(function() {
jQuery('#wpas-results-inner > div > div > p > a[href^="/tag/' +
location.pathname.split("/") this.checkedAttr[0] + '"]').addClass('active');
});
</script>
What I am aiming to do is target the links in each card, then add a class to the links whose slug is found in my array. The end goal is to highlight checked 'ingredients' and fade out ingredients that haven't been checked.
I am not exactly sure how to make this function check my array for each slug, I would love to learn what steps are needed to accomplish this!
I am also not certain if my jQuery CSS path is correctly targeting the links
Thanks for any insights!
If you are looking for something like when select particular checkbox, all the card related to that checkbox should be enabled(lets say apply any class active) and once you dis-select the checkbox, we need to remove that particular class from all related checkbox??
you can check the given fiddle.
https://jsfiddle.net/stdeepak22/x1L95dw3/1/
var checkedAttr = [];
$('#checkBoxForCategory :checkbox').change(function()
{
var cardCategory = $(this).val();
var allCards = $('.myCard[card-category=' + cardCategory + ']');
if($(this).is(':checked'))
{
//add the selected category to array
checkedAttr.push(cardCategory);
//add the `active` class for all the card belongs to selected category
$(allCards).each(function()
{
$(this).addClass('active');
});
}
else
{
//remove from array
var index = checkedAttr.indexOf(cardCategory);
checkedAttr.splice(index, 1);
//remove the class for all the card belongs to selected category
$(allCards).each(function()
{
$(this).removeClass('active');
});
}
console.log("checkedAttr:", checkedAttr);
});

Jquery checkbox affect one item not all items

I was wondering if someone can help me please, I have a series of checkboxes that when clicked change the div background, activate 2 inputs and add a tick icon. My issue is that when one check box is checked the class .TickIco shows for all and so does the .disableToggle
How can i get it so that this only affects one .checkBG at a time and not all of them?
Hopefully this JSFiddle will help explain what I mean.
https://jsfiddle.net/jayjay89/xfg96we5/
thanks
$(".checkBG").click(function () {
var checked = $(this).is(':checked');
var location = $(this).parent().parent().parent();
if (checked) {
$(this).parent().parent().parent().addClass("activeformBlock");
$(".tickIco").show();
$(".disabletoggle").removeAttr("disabled");
} else {
$(this).parent().parent().parent().removeClass("activeformBlock");
$(".tickIco").hide();
$(".disabletoggle").attr('disabled', 'disabled');
}
});
thanks
you can use the context in which the selector will be looked.
You already have the location variable which is the parent context for one of your row
$(".checkBG").click(function () {
var checked = $(this).is(':checked');
var location = $(this).parent().parent().parent();
if (checked) {
$(this,location).parent().parent().parent().addClass("activeformBlock");
$(".tickIco",location).show();
$(".disabletoggle",location).removeAttr("disabled");
} else {
$(this,location).parent().parent().parent().removeClass("activeformBlock");
$(".tickIco",location).hide();
$(".disabletoggle",location).attr('disabled', 'disabled');
}
});
Your issue lies in the way you are selecting the .tickIco and .disabletoggle elements:
$(".tickIco").show();
$(".disabletoggle").removeAttr("disabled");
These jquery calls use selectors that match all classes of .tickIco and .disabletoggle.
Dirty solution (finds elements of the parent with matching classes using .find()):
$(this).parent().parent().parent().find(".tickIco").show();
$(this).parent().parent().parent().find('.disabletoggle').removeAttr("disabled")
Better solution:
jQuery selecter takes the context of your selection as a second argument so you can:
var context = $(this).parent().parent().parent();
$(".tickIco", context).show();
$('.disabletoggle', context).removeAttr("disabled")

Get DIV ID where Class is selected?

I currently have the following:
$(window).load(function(){
$(".boxdiv").click(function () {
$(this).toggleClass("selected");
});
});
Which perfectly does the first part of what I need. I have a fair amount of div's with the class "boxdiv" and they each have a unique ID that will identify it. What I need to happen is to have some kind of button that when pressed sends all of these div ID's with the class selected, to the next page.
Anyone got any idea of how I can do this?
Map the ID's in an array, and use $.param to create a querystring
$('button').on('click', function() {
var id_arr = $.map($(".selected"), function(el) {return el.id;});
window.location.href = '/next_page?' + $.param({ids : id_arr});
});
EDIT:
$('button').on('click', function() {
var id_arr = $.map($(".selected"), function(el) {return el.id;}),
qs = encodeURIComponent(id_arr.join(','));
window.location.href = '/next_page?ids=' + qs;
});
Perhaps this is what you're looking for:
$(".button").click(function(){
var id_arr = [];
$(".boxdiv").each(function(){ // Loop through each element with that class
id_arr.push($(this).attr('id'));
}); // Loop through each element with that class
});
window.location = 'next.html/ID=' + id_arr.join(',');
The ID's should be stored in id_arr
You can loop over each div that has the class selected. You can then use attr() to access the ID names.
Javascript
var ids = [];
$.each($(".selected"), function() {
ids.push($(this).attr('id'));
});
ids = ids.join(',');
HTML
<div id="boxA"></div>
<div id="boxB" class="selected"></div>
<div id="boxC" class="selected"></div>
<div id="boxD"></div>
This should return ["boxB", "boxC"]
See: http://jsfiddle.net/B4V28/1/
All of the answers submitted are in fact correct - but I think the real issue is your expectation of what jQuery is doing for you.
jQuery will gather all of the ID's in any manner, but you will need to have a way to collect them on the next page and actually do something with them. This will all need to happen server side.
Most likely, the ideal method, based on your comment of "potentially there could be many" you would want to do a mapping (see other answers), and pass the json object to your server, where it can pass it to the next page.
With the same code -
$('button').on('click', function() {
var id_arr = $.map($(".selected"), function(el) {return el.id;}),
qs = encodeURIComponent(id_arr.join(','));
alert('/next_page?ids=' + qs);
});

JS: Click one div, change another div value

I have a vote button I created that is contained within a .vote_div. 2 parts: .vote_num for the vote total, and .vote for the vote button. The page has a list of items so I need to make sure when the user clicks .vote, it changes the corresponding .vote_num + 1.
My JS function worked when the .vote actually was the total votes, but now I am seperating the two. How do I grab the right .vote_num on the .vote click?
Thanks!
<script>
$(".vote").click( function() {
var votes = $(this).attr('votes');
$.post(
'{% url vote %}', {
"id":this.id,
}, function(data) {});
this.className = "voted";
$(this).text(parseInt(votes) + 1);
return false;
});
</script>
<div class="vote_div">
<span class="vote_num" votes='{{host.num_votes}}'>{{host.num_votes}}</span>
<span class="vote" id="{{host.user.id}}">Vote</span>
</div>
EDIT & SOLUTION:
Got it working using $(this).parent() :
<script>
$(".vote").click( function() {
var votes = $(this).parent().find('.vote_num').attr('votes');
$.post(
'{% url vote %}', {
"id":this.id,
}, function(data) {});
this.className = "voted";
votes = parseInt(votes) + 1;
$(this).parent().find('.vote_num').text(votes);
return false;
});
</script>
try:
var votes = $(this).parent().find('.vote_num').attr('votes');
It goes to the parent of the clicked div then looks for an element with class vote_num then grabs the votes attributes.
#James answer should work, but this should give you a little more freedom to rearrange the two divs and add other elements so long as they share the parent.
To be even more robust you could do (note the 's' on "parents")
var votes = $(this).parents('.vote_div').find('.vote_num').attr('votes');
This will allow the elements to be nested arbitrarily deep as long as they only have a single parent with a class of `vote_div'.
See: http://api.jquery.com/parent/ , http://api.jquery.com/parents/ , and http://api.jquery.com/find/
if you have multiple class with vote, maybe you should use each()
$(".vote").each(function () {
var current = $(this);
current.click = function () {
// the rest of your function
}
})
Assuming I've understood the question correctly, and also assuming that your vote_num element is always the first element in the vote_div element:
var votes = $(this).siblings().eq(0).attr("votes");
Put this inside your click event handler will get the votes attribute from the first sibling element of the clicked element.
You can make this simpler if you are sure the element in question will always be directly before the clicked element:
var votes = $(this).prev().attr("votes");
var votes = $(this).attr('votes');
'votes' does not belong to class 'vote', it belongs to class 'vote_num'
so the line should be
var votes = $(".vote_num").attr('votes');
$('.vote').click(function(){
var $vote_num_obj = $(this).parent().find('.vote_num');
var new_vote_num = parseInt($vote_num_obj.attr('votes'))+1;
$vote_num_obj.attr('votes', new_vote_num);
$vote_num_obj.html(new_vote_num);
});
Put this script inside $('document').ready(function(){ ..here.. });
I suggest to change votes attribute of your span.vote_num to data-votes and change also the jquery attribute selector, this way it will be standard compliant.

How do I manipulate a jqGrid's search/filters?

I have a jqGrid with a navBar that has search: true and multipleSearch: true. I would like to add a button to my UI that automatically adds an additional rule to the search.
I've tried manipulating the postData for the filter directly, but values added this way don't show up in the search UI.
I've also tried accessing the search box directly using jQuery, like this:
$('#fbox_list').searchFilter().add();
$('#fbox_list .sf .data input').each(function(index) {
alert($(this).val());
});
But, in addition to feeling hackish, it only works if the user has already clicked on the search button (the fbox_list div is not constructed on load).
Has anyone else dealt with an issue like this?
For the sake of posterity, here is the hack I'm currently using. The grid has an ID of list and the pager has an ID of pager:
jQuery(document).ready(function() {
//Initialize grid.
//Initialize the navigation bar (#pager)
//Hack to force creation of the search grid.
//The filter's ID is of the form #fbox_<gridId>
jQuery('#pager .ui-icon-search').click();
jQuery('#fbox_list').searchFilter().close();
//Example button events for adding/clearing the filter.
jQuery("#btnAddFilter").click(function() {
//Adds a filter for the first column being equal to 'filterValue'.
var postFilters = jQuery("#list").jqGrid('getGridParam', 'postData').filters;
if (postFilters) {
$('#fbox_list').searchFilter().add();
}
var colModel = jQuery("#list").jqGrid('getGridParam', 'colModel');
//The index into the colModel array for the column we wish to filter.
var colNum = 0;
var col = colModel[colNum];
$('#fbox_list .sf .fields select').last().val(col.index).change();
$('#fbox_list .sf .data input').last().val('filterValue');
$('#fbox_list .sf .ops select.field' + colNum).last().val('eq').change();
$('#fbox_list').searchFilter().search();
});
jQuery("#btnClearFilter").click(function() {
$('#fbox_list').searchFilter().reset();
});
});
If you mean the filter toolbar, you can do this: (status is the col name -- so, replace "#gs_status" w/ "#gs_" + your_col_name
jQuery("#distributor_grid").jqGrid('showCol',['status']);
jQuery(".ui-search-toolbar #gs_status")
.val('ALL')
;
$('#distributor_grid').RefreshData(); // triggers toolbar
to clear inputs, selects and reset grid
$("td#refresh_navGrid").click();
