How to replace DOM node with remote javascript in PhantomJS - javascript

I'm new to PhantomJS and javascript, so forgive me if there is a simple solution.
I'm using PhantomJS to do screenshots of websites, and I want to replace certain DOM nodes with dynamic content from a remote javascript, something like this:

For the simple case (case #3) where I'm just replacing it with some text, it works fine, but not for either of the javascript cases. It seems the javascript isn't being evaluated after being inserted via replaceChild(). I tried page.reload() just before page.render() but it didn't help.
Next, I tried creating the new element using iframe:

This works for the simple js test case #2, but I can't figure out how to make iframe work with what I really want (Case #1).
Any suggestions?

I came up with a workable solution:

I also had to put in a bit of delay:

Nope, you can add your javascript reference to the page like this, right before calling evaluate the first time (excerpt):

Please note that you can call evaluate several times, so you can extract stuff from the page, call javascript functions from the page, modify DOM, etc.

jQuery .html() working OK, but JavaScript .innerHTML not working

<script> elements inserted via innerHTML are intentionally disabled/ignored by the browser out of concern for it potentially permitting cross-site scripting.
You'll have to evaluate them yourself by retrieving their contents in a separate step.

In general at least, you should be able to define a generic form of the <script> as a function, included within the page prior to this.

Ubuntu HTML5 App: Change Tab on JS command

First Question here, too! Yay! Just moved this from AskUbuntu.
I am just about to finish a little private project for gaining some experience where i try to change the app layout so it works as a normal website (on Jimdo, so it was quite of a challenge first) without much JavaScript required but is fully functional on mobile view.
Since Jimdo serves naturally only the actual site, I had to implement an
if (activeTab.getAttribute('jimdo-target') != null)
location.href = activeTab.getAttribute('jimdo-target');
redirect into the __doSelectTab() function in tabs.js . (In js I took the values from the jimdo menu string to build the TABS menu with this link attribute)
Now everything works fine exept at page load the first tab is selected. I got it to set the .active and .inactive classes right easily, but it is not shifted to the left.
So my next idea is to let it initialize as always and then send a command to change to the current tab.
Do you have any idea how to manage this? I couldn't because of the this.thisandthat element I apparently don't really understand...

So meanwhile found a simple workaround, however I'd still like to know if there is another way. Eventually I noticed the __doSelectTab() function is the one that executes the click, so it does nothing but to show the other tab names when they are hidden first. so I added the global value

Multiple routes not working correctly in backbone.js

I'm trying to create a basic webapp that displays images when a specific URL is reached. In this case, I'm using backbone.js's hash system.
I'm trying to make it so that when "www.website.com/index.html#1" is reached, the first image is displayed using some JavaScript that I have. I also need it so that if "www.website.com/index.html#1/#3/#5" is reached, the first, third, and fifth image is displayed. I know that I have to use multiple routes to do this, but I'm not sure how.
I have one working route for the first image that works awesomely. I just don't know how to adapt it so that it works with multiple routes.
Here's the working hash -

It's awesome, it works, it doesn't even refresh the page. But when I try to add another route to that, it all fails. Like, if I added a "test1":"test1" under the "test":"test", the original "test":"test" won't work anymore(neither will the new one, of course).
I've even tried copying+pasting that entire block of code and trying to make a whole new route block of code. That doesn't work either. I'm really stumped here.
Any suggestions would be awesome.

You should limit the scope of your first use case. Don't depend on external functions for now. Do something like

Once you have that working, then start working on DOM manipulation.

You can use the route "?*:queryString" to match this URL "www.website.com/index.html#?#1#3#5".
The functions "showImages" will be called and passing the value #1#3#5 in the queryString param.
So from other questions posted on StackOverflow, and some that I posted myself, some great users have helped me out and I've solved it.
Here's the code that I have to use -

Load Javascript into ajax loaded content

I am new to working with AJAX and have some experience with Java/Jquery. I have been looking around for an solution to my problem but i cant seem to find any.
I am trying to build a function in a webshop where the product will appear in a popup window instead of loading a new page.
I got it working by using this code:

The problem that i now have is that my Javascript/Jquery isnt working in the productpopup. For example the lightbox for the product image or the button to add product to shoppingcart doesnt work. Is there anyway to make the javascript work inside the loaded content or to load javascript into the popup?
I hope you can understand what my problem is!

I know this is an old thread but I've been working on a similar process with the same script loading problem and thought I'd share my version as another option.
I have a basic route handler for when a user clicks an anchor/button etc that I use to swap out the main content area of the site, in this example it's the ".page" class.
I then use a function to make an ajax call to get the html content as a partial, at the moment they are php files and they do some preliminary rendering server side to build the html but this isn't necessary.
The callback handles placing the new html and as I know what script I need I just append it to the bottom in a script tag created on the fly. If I have an error at the server I pass this back as content which may be just a key word that I can use to trigger a custom js method to print something more meaningful to the page.
here's a basic implementation based on the register route handler:

I find this a good way to 'module-ize' my code into partial views and separated JavaScript files that can be swapped in/out of the page easily.
I will be working on a way to make this more dynamic and even cache these 'modules' for repeated use in an SPA scenario.

Yes you can load Javascript from a dynamic page, but not with load() as load strips any Javascript and inserts the raw HTML.
Solution: pull down raw page with a get and reattach any Javascript blocks.

Verify External Script Is Loaded

I'm creating a jquery plugin and I want to verify an external script is loaded. This is for an internal web app and I can keep the script name/location consistent(mysscript.js). This is also an ajaxy plugin that can be called on many times on the page.
If I can verify the script is not loaded I'll load it using:
jQuery.getScript()
How can I verify the script is loaded because I don't want the same script loaded on the page more than once? Is this something that I shouldn't need to worry about due to caching of the script?
Update:
I may not have control over who uses this plugin in our organization and may not be able to enforce that the script is not already on the page with or without a specific ID, but the script name will always be in the same place with the same name. I'm hoping I can use the name of the script to verify it's actually loaded.
If the script creates any variables or functions in the global space you can check for their existance:
External JS (in global scope) --

You can check for the existence of the <script> tag in question by selecting all of the <script> elements and checking their src attributes:

The accepted solutions above have changed & improved much over time. The scope of my previous answer above was only to detect if the script was inserted in the document to load (and not whether the script has actually finished loading).
To detect if the script has already loaded, I use the following method (in general):
Create a common library function to dynamically load all scripts.
Before loading, it uses the isScriptLoaded(src) function above to check whether the script has already been added (say, by another module).
I use something like the following loadScript() function to load the script that uses callback functions to inform the calling modules if the script finished loading successfully.
I also use additional logic to retry when script loading fails (in case of temporary network issues).
Retry is done by removing the <script> tag from the body and adding it again.
If it still fails to load after configured number of retries, the <script> tag is removed from the body.
I have removed that logic from the following code for simplicity. It should be easy to add.

It's useful when we load scripts from a CDN server. If we can't load script from the CDN, we can load it from our server.

Some answers on this page are wrong. They check for the existence of the <script> tag - but that is not enough. That tells you that the tag was inserted into the DOM, not that the script is finished loading.
I assume from the question that there are two parts: the code that inserts the script, and the code that checks whether the script has loaded.
The code that dynamically inserts the script:
