I am getting popup window, but I don't want it to minimize when user clicks away outside of it.

In my opinion you should use jquery dialog to get what you want, the sample below (try it on jsFiddle):
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://code.jquery.com/ui/1.10.2/themes/smoothness/jquery-ui.css" />
<script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.9.1.js"></script>
<script src="http://code.jquery.com/ui/1.10.2/jquery-ui.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function () {
$( "#dialog-form" ).dialog({
modal: true <!-- is background page responsive or not -->
});
});
</script>
</head>
<body>
Background information
<div id="dialog-form" title="Hello">Basic information</div>
</body>
</html>

jQuery UI Modal Popup Window on Button Click

I try to run some examples from Jquery site and some videos i' ve seen, but it seems like i can't execute them properly. Here's my code :
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/ui/1.10.3/jquery-ui.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.8.2.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(function() {
$("#btnclick").click(function() {
$("#divpopup").dialog({
title: "blabla",
width: 430,
height: 200,
modal: true,
buttons: {
Close:
function() {
$(this).dialog('close');
}
}
});
});
})
</script>
</head>
<body>
<div id="divpopup" style="display:none">
blablablabla
</div>
<button type="button" id="btnclick">Click me</button>
</body>
</html>
I can't find what's wrong, the only thing it may be is that i haven't input an important library or something. Every one of my explorers shows me the button, but clicking it doesn't trigger the modal window. Any ideas?
Thank you
Jquery library references should be in below order.
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.8.2.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/ui/1.10.3/jquery-ui.js"></script>

What is the problem in this scripts?
You are including jQuery three times:
<script type="text/javascript" src="javascript/jquery-latest.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="fancybox/lib/jquery-1.8.2.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="fancybox/lib/jquery-1.8.2.min.js"></script>
and aside particular cases you have to include it once (and use noconflict).
Now the the table sorter plugin will be detached from jQuery by the third include and you face your error.
Remove the other jQuery include and use only the latest.

I am using jQuery on a standard salesforce page. I can only place my jQuery script in the main page. When I click on an inline edit element, a dialog box opens up and this dialog box has a few input fields. I want to know how to access the input fields in the dialog box from the jQuery which is placed in the Main page.
Please help!!

If you paste the code we could exactly show you.
You can access it by, For instance specifying it's id:
$("#the_id_element")

Why is simple JQuery dialog/popup not working?

I put it all in one page and it should work and is not working:
<html>
<head> <link href="css_js/styles.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
<script language="JavaScript1.2" src="css_js/jquery-1.7.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script language="JavaScript1.2" src="css_js/jquery-ui-1.8.17.custom.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script language="JavaScript1.2" type="text/javascript">
function popup() {
alert('test');
var popup = $('.newpopup');
popup.draggable();
popup.resizable();
popup.html('<p>Where is pancakes house?</p>');
popup.show('fast');
}
$('button').click(popup);
</script>
</head>
<body>
<div class='newpopup'></div>
<button>popup</button>
</body>
</html>
I want to make a simple popup / dialog with Jquery but it is not working at all. What is wrong with it?
Call the function on document.ready
$(document).ready(function(){
$('button').click(function(){
popup();
});
})
OR
$(function(){
$('button').click(function(){
popup();
});
})
You should run your function in jQuery style:
$('button').click(function() {
popup();
return false; //optional
}
Are you sure the src reference is valid when you're including jquery? I've got your code working fine on this jsfiddle using the Google-hosted versions of JQuery and JQuery-ui.
