I have an initial init page in my application that acts as an entry point and loads my login page.
<!DOCTYPE html>

<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.3.0/jquery.mobile- 1.3.0.min.css" />

<script src="http://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.3.0/jquery.mobile-1.3.0.min.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<!-- initialse and load the application -->
<div data-role="page" id="init">
<script type="text/javascript">
$('#init').live( 'pageinit', function() {
window.location.href="views/login.html";
});
</script>
</div>
</body>
</html>
When my login page loads there is a button which loads a dialog. This button initially doesn't work and only loads the dialog when the page is manually refreshed. Why does this happen and what can I do to enable the button/dialog immediately upon page load.

Not sure if you've fixed this but it seems to be something to do with the DOM cache & AJAX.
I'm not sure how you'd do it, but try setting the ajax: false when you do the window reload. Alternatively you could redirect via server side (I'd recommend this as it'll still work if the user has JS turned off.
Why I figured this out was because I had a page with a list on it, the list items sent me to a new page which has a jump link on it (#settings_dialog). Setting the data-ajax="false" on each list item somehow 'refreshed' the DOM and forced the second page to load 'fresh' and voila - my dialog works 100% now.
So, in short, turn off the AJAX feature or (better) redirect from serverside & be happy!

I need to be able to choose when the jquery dialog opens up but nothing i seem to do works.
so far ive tried this
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">

<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
console.log(document.body.scrollTop);
if(document.body.scrollTop === 0)
{
$.mobile.changePage('#myPopupDialog', 'pop', true, true);
}
});
</script>
</body>
</html>
which works but when i change the if statement in the javascript it breaks also if i remove the anchor tag at the top it just doesnt show... jQuery mobile has me confused.
So anyway my question is how do manually make a dialog box show on the page, i would prefer it to show on the same page and not another page.
use this:
$("#myPopupDialog").addClass("ui-page-active ui-page ui-page-theme-a")
I have two simple html files which has a link in body and a log in JavaScript. In A.html, it is a link to jump to B.html and a console.log("a 123"); in JavaScript. However, the "a 123" message will only be showed when refresh the browser but not be executed from a link. For example, if i click the link Go to a in b.html, the message "a 123" will not be showed.
Any idea?

Bit of searching and I found the answer! Apparently it's a 'feature' of Jquery Mobile. It's using an Ajax navigation system. So it stays singlepage.
From the docs:
jQuery Mobile includes a navigation system to load pages into the DOM via Ajax, enhance the new content, then display pages with a rich set of animated transitions. The navigation system uses progressive enhancement to automatically 'hijack' standard links and form submissions and route them as an Ajax request.
Maybe it's a good idea to read the intro of jQuery mobile: http://demos.jquerymobile.com/1.4.5/intro/
That's because the code your code only executes on the page load. If you want it to execute on an event, you need to wrap it in a function and call the function in the onclick attribute on your link.
I'm currently working on an application in cordova. Since I have more pages I tried to add a menu. On the first page (index.html) there is some output, on the second file (settings.html) I want to make a Ajax-Request to a external server.
In the <head>-Tag all stylesheets and jQuery and Cordova is included. In the <body>-Tag some Ajax-calls are made.

</head>
<body onload="onLoad();">
<div data-role="controlgroup" data-corners="false">

</div>
<!-- Ajax Requests -->
</body>
If I hit Settings I get to the html-page and the code will be displayed, but the code jQuery/js-code will not be executed. (I tried an alert, but it's not working)
Can you tell me what possibilities I have to include another page with working js-code?
Thanks!
If you are using jQuery Mobile , you can use Single Page Application(SPA) for multiple pages in Cordova like this.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
<link rel="stylesheet" href="http://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.4.5/jquery.mobile-1.4.5.min.css">
<script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.11.1.min.js"></script>
<script src="http://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.4.5/jquery.mobile-1.4.5.min.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div data-role="page" id="index">
<div data-role="header">
<h1>Home</h1>
</div>
<div data-role="content" class="ui-content" >
<p>Home Page</p>
<a data-role="none" href="#setting">Setting</a>
</div>
</div>
<div data-role="page" id="setting">
<div data-role="header">
<h1>Setting</h1>
<a href="" data-rel="back" >Back</a>
</div>
<div data-role="content" class="ui-content" >
<p>Setting Page</p>
</div>
</div>
</body>
<script>
$(document).on("pagebeforeshow","#index",function(){
// You ajax call for index page
});
$(document).on("pagebeforeshow","#setting",function(){
// You ajax call for setting page
});
</script>
<html>
Demo
You need to include a script that will fire when the page is fully loaded into the DOM.
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
-- call your$.ajax({}) here --
});
</script>
OR
<script>
(function(){
call your $.ajax({}) here --
}();
</script>
I am developing a jquery mobile website and i have some problems running javascript code.
I have a home page , index.html , which is basically a listview to navigate to various html pages. I use the single-page structure for my pages , that means every 1 html file contains 1 page. Now from the home page , i navigate to another page where i am using a persistent NavBar with a horizontal button with 2 options. One is photos and the other is multimedia.
For the photos i am using the Javascript FB API , to download the photos from a FB Page and then with the PhotoSwipe Plugin i present them to the user.
The problem..
If i run the photos.html page , it will work well and load the albums. There are 2 things that my javascript does. 1) Use FB API to get albums, photos , cover photos etc.. 2) Dynamically create a listview with this albums and their photos. In this case both work great!
However when i am in my index.html and i navigate through the listview to the photos.html (photos is the default chosen button from the persisent NavBar) the Javascript code doesnt work. Like is not called at all..
The index.html looks like:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>

As you see i call my javascript in the end. Any ideas why its never called? If i refresh the page , that means run the photos.html , it will load normally.
Actually i also look at the "elements" table from the debugger. When im in the index.html page the html elements seem all correct. When i do the transition though to the photos.html page , by looking at the elements table i see that they dont change! The title does change but the rest stays the same which is incredible?! How on earth can that happen? It looks like is the same page , with the same css and javascript sources , but should be different! As you see i use photoSwipe javascript , css etc! Only if i reload the page the elements are correct. Please any ideas? I have no idea what is happening here.
Also for some reason i get a 304 Status , Not Modified through the transition , from one page to another.
The reason for this is because when you navigate to a page in jQuery Mobile it by defaults will try and pull the JQM page (data-role="page" (if there is no data-role='page' then it will pull the body)) via ajax and attaches it to the current page's DOM, the thing is it will only pull the JQM page (or body if there isn't any) and ignore everything (aside from the title) outside of it meaning your JavaScript is not going to get called.
When you refresh the page then a normal HTTP call is made and the entire page is loaded so your code is executed.
In order to have your JavaScript called you need to either have the relevant script's on your first page or you can have it withing your JQM page wrapper and it will then be pulled along with it.
<div data-role="page" id="photos" data-theme="a"
data-add-back-btn="true" data-back-btn-text="Back">

Have a look at the following Q&A from the official docs for more details.
Hi I have two html pages in my mobile application as follows:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
<title>jQuery Mobile: Demos and Documentation</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="jquery.mobile/jquery.mobile-1.1.0.css" />
<link rel="stylesheet" href="docs/assets/css/jqm-docs.css" />
<link rel="stylesheet" href="docsdemos-style-override.css" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.mobile/jquery-1.7.2.min"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.mobile/jquery.mobile-1.1.0.js"></script>
<!-- Uncomment following line to access PhoneGap APIs (not necessary to use PhoneGap to package web app) -->
<!-- <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="cordova-1.6.1.js"></script>-->
</head>
<body>
<div data-role="page" id="jqm-home" class="type-home">
<div data-role="content">
Index
</div>
</div>
</body>
</html>
my example.html is like:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
<title>jQuery Mobile: Demos and Documentation</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="jquery.mobile/jquery.mobile-1.1.0.css" />
<link rel="stylesheet" href="docs/assets/css/jqm-docs.css" />
<link rel="stylesheet" href="docsdemos-style-override.css" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.mobile/jquery-1.7.2.min"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.mobile/jquery.mobile-1.1.0.js"></script>
<!-- Uncomment following line to access PhoneGap APIs (not necessary to use PhoneGap to package web app) -->
<!-- <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="cordova-1.6.1.js"></script>-->
</head>
<body>
<div data-role="page" id="jqm-home" class="type-home">
<div data-role="content">
Test
</div>
<script type="text/javascript">
window.onbeforeunload = function(evt) {
console.log ("*****************");
}
</script>
</div>
</body>
</html>
Now suppose on click of Index button I goes to example.html page. on click of back button in example.html it again goes to index.html. everything is fine, but it does not print console.log ("********"); If i press one more back on index.html then it prints it, what I want is it should print that on click of back button when I am on example.html.
Whats wrong in above code? and why it behave like this? Any suggestion will be appreciated thanks in advance.
In Jquery Mobile standard use you basically stay on the same page during your hole experience on the site. "Changing" page basically adds content dynamically to the current document, meaning it will not trigger your onbeforeunload event.
You can however use jquery mobile events, which one depends on exactly what kind of action you want to take. Most probably you would be looking at pagebeforehide or pagehide
What you can do is add an event to the back button.
If you have a button :
<button id="backButton"> Go Back </button>
you can add via jquery following event
$("#backButton).click(function(){
console.log ("*****************");
});
Keep in mind, if you click a button, a post will happen and the page will be refreshed. So you should add the log function inthe document ready of the other page.
So if the example.html page loads, you just fire this event
$(function(){
//All code that starts when the page is fully loaded.
console.log ("*****************");
});
