handle jquery ajax error - javascript

in my MVC layout page I have the following:
$("body").ajaxError(
function (e, request) {
if (request.status == 403 || request.status == 500) {
window.location = '#Url.Action("LogOn", "Account", new {area = "", msg = "forbidden", returnUrl = HttpContext.Current.Request.RawUrl})' + window.location.hash;
return;
}
window.location = '#Url.Action("Index", "Error")';
}
);
on another page I'm performing an ajax call like so:
...
$.when(refreshActionLinks(row, machineId, packageId)).done(function(a1) {
row.find("span").text(opStatus).removeClass("pending");
progressbar.progressbar("destroy");
$(row).flash(bg[1], 1000);
});
...
javascript function:
function refreshActionLinks($row, machineId, packageId) {
try {
var json = JSON.stringify({ packageId: packageId, machineId: machineId, tabType: $("#TabType").val() });
console.log("refreshActionLinks => " + json);
$row.find("td.options div.actionLinks").html("<img src='#Url.Content("~/Content/images/ajax-load2.gif")' />"); // pending
return $.ajax({
url: "#Url.Action("GetActionLinks", "Packages")",
data: json,
timeout: 50000,
contentType: 'application/json',
type: 'POST',
success: function (data) {
if ($row.length) {
$row.find("td.options div.actionLinks").html(data);
}
},
error: function(jqXHR, textStatus, errorThrown) {
console.log(textStatus, errorThrown);
}
});
} catch(e) {
// hide icons
$row.find("a.action").remove();
}
}
The issue is that while refreshAction function is executing, clicking a menu link causes the ajax call to error out - which in this case is correct. BUT it does take me to /Index/Error page which is NOT correct. I would like "$("body").ajaxError" to handle all ajax errors on the site EXCEPT on the page I'm calling refreshActionLinks. Notice, I already have try/catch surrounding my ajax call. why doesn't that work?
thanks

figured it out:
ajax has a settings:
global: false
now my function looks like this:
function refreshActionLinks($row, machineId, packageId) {
try {
var json = JSON.stringify({ packageId: packageId, machineId: machineId, tabType: $("#TabType").val() });
console.log("refreshActionLinks => " + json);
$row.find("td.options div.actionLinks").html("<img src='#Url.Content("~/Content/images/ajax-load2.gif")' />"); // pending
return $.ajax({
url: "#Url.Action("GetActionLinks", "Packages")",
global: false, // disable error pages on failed ajax calls
data: json,
timeout: 50000,
contentType: 'application/json',
type: 'POST',
success: function (data) {
if ($row.length) {
$row.find("td.options div.actionLinks").html(data);
}
}
});
} catch(e) {
// hide icons
$row.find("a.action").remove();
}
}

Access object properties - Ajax Call

I have simple AJAX call.
It looks like this:
myApp.onPageInit('about', function (page) {
search_term = $$("#search_term").val();
const key = "xxxx-xxxx";
const nick = "https://api.xxx.xxx/" + search_term + "?api_key=" + key;
$$.ajax({
url:nick,
type:'GET',
dataType: JSON,
beforeSend: function(){
//myApp.showPreloader('Please wait...');
},
success: function(data) {
//myApp.hidePreloader();
console.log(data);
console.log(data['summonerLevel']);
},
statusCode: {
404: function() {
// myApp.alert('Account does not exist.', 'ERROR');
}
},
error: function(data) {
myApp.alert('Account does not exist.', 'ERROR');
// ak je ovaj error, netko je dirao putanju - fajl
},
});
})
When I'm trying to get properties from data object, every time it says undefined.
Console log: {"id":"xxxx","accountId":"xxxx","puuid":"xxxx","name":"Data","profileIconId":3015,"revisionDate":1546082318000,"summonerLevel":37}
Second console log: undefined
I tried dot notation and bracket notation, but everytime same status(undefined).
Like this:
console.log(data['summonerLevel']);
console.log(data.summonerLevel);
Any suggestion for this problem?
use JSON.Parse() method and try taking the value with object.attributename
$.ajax({
url:nick,
type:'GET',
dataType: JSON,
beforeSend: function(){
},
success: function(data) {
var data=JSON.Parse(data);
console.log(data.summonerLevel);
console.log(data.accountId);
},
statusCode: {
404: function() {
}
},
error: function(data) {
},
});

Ajax call showing error cant debug

this is how the javascript looks like
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function () {
$('#loginButton').click(function () {
//this.disabled = true;
debugger;
var data = {
"userid": $("#username").val(),
"password": $("#password").val()
};
$.ajax({
url: "/Account/LoginPost",
type: "POST",
data: JSON.stringify(data),
dataType: "json",
contentType: "application/json",
success: function (response) {
if (response.Success) {
$.get("#Url.Action("Search", "Home")", function (data) {
$('.container').html(data);
});
}
else
window.location.href = "#Url.Action("Index", "Home")";
},
error: function () {
alert('Login Fail!!!');
}
});
});
});
I am getting the alert('Login fail') also debugger not getting hit.
I am using jquery 1.9.1 and have included unobstrusive
my controller is this as you can i am passing string values not object values
to the controller so stringify is justified here
[HttpPost]
public JsonResult LoginPost(string userid, string password)
{
using (someentities wk = new someentities())
{
var LoginUser = wk.tblUsers.Where(a => a.Username.Equals(userid)&&a.Password.Equals(password)).FirstOrDefault();
if (LoginUser != null)
{
FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(userid,false);
Session["Username"] = LoginUser.Username;
Session["Password"] = LoginUser.Password;
Session["Name"] = LoginUser.Name;
return Json(new { Success = true }, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet);
}
else
{
TempData["Login"] = "Please Enter Correct Login Details";
return Json(new { Success = false }, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet);
}
}
// If we got this far, something failed, redisplay form
}
when page is loading these error are shown
$(..) live is not a valid function in
(anonymous function) # jquery.unobtrusive-ajax.js:115
(anonymous function) # jquery.unobtrusive-ajax.js:163
take a look to the success function
success: function (response) {
if (response.Success) {
$.get("#Url.Action("Search", "Home")", function (data) {
$('.container').html(data);
});
}
else
window.location.href = "#Url.Action("Index", "Home")";
}
you are using multiple ", combine it with the single one ', this is a syntax error, try to check the code on an editor such as Atom, to avoid this kind of errors
Stringify converts an object to a string. Have you tried passing data an object instead of a string? Try replacing JSON.stringify(data), with data?

Dotnetnuke Call ajax from a module

I am now trying to build a dnn module using ajax calls. But there is a jquery error stating
SyntaxError: Unexpected token <
I have tried to work around with ajax "url: " and tried to create a new ascx at the root folder but still showing error 404.
My ajax call is as below
$.ajax({
url: "NewsManagement.ascx/Add",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
dataType: "json",
method: "POST",
beforeSend: function () {
},
cache: false,
data: {
title : $('#txt_Title').val(),
news_content : $('#txt_Content').val(),
image : $('#file_Image').val(),
chapter_id : $('#sel_Chapter').val(),
is_draft : $('#chk_Draft').val(),
posted_date : $('#dp_PostDate').val(),
created_by : "",
lastupdate_by : ""
},
success: function (data) {
console.log(data);
if (data == "success") {
console.log(data);
}
else {
initMdlError("SERVER : " + data);
}
},
error: function (data, textStatus, error) {
// ERROR IS BEING CALLED FROM HERE
console.log("JQUERY JAVASCRIPT : " + error);
initMdlError(error);
},
complete: function () {
console.log('complete');
}
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
Is there any way to solve the issues?
The problem you're running into is that DNN isn't handling the requested URL properly that you are calling. If you want to call a service URL in DNN you're going to want to setup routes to handle the calls.
namespace Christoc.Com.Modules.SlidePresentation.services
{
public class SlidePresentationRouteMapper : IServiceRouteMapper
{
public void RegisterRoutes(IMapRoute mapRouteManager)
{
mapRouteManager.MapRoute("SlidePresentation", "{controller}.ashx/{action}",
new[] {"Christoc.Com.Modules.SlidePresentation.services"});
}
}
}
In the Controller you can define the methods available
[DnnAuthorize(AllowAnonymous = true)]
public ActionResult ListOfSlides()
{
try
{
var slides = Slide.GetSlides(ActiveModule.TabID, ActiveModule.ModuleID);
return Json(slides, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet);
}
catch (Exception exc)
{
DnnLog.Error(exc);
return Json(null, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet);
}
}
https://slidepresentation.codeplex.com/SourceControl/latest#DesktopModules/SlidePresentation/services/SlidePresentationController.cs
sample Javascript
//get slides on initialization
this.init = function(element) {
//var data = {}; //removed because we don't need this
//data.moduleId = moduleId; //removed because we don't need this when calling setModuleHeaders
//data.tabId = tabId; //removed because we don't need this
//serviceFramework.getAntiForgeryProperty(); //removed because we don't need this
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
cache: false,
url: baseServicePath + 'ListOfSlides',
//data: data,
//dataType:"json",
beforeSend: serviceFramework.setModuleHeaders
}).done(function(data) {
viewModel.slides = ko.utils.arrayMap(data, function(s) {
return new slide(s);
});
ko.applyBindings(viewModel);
$(element).jmpress();
}).fail(function () {
Console.Log('Sorry failed to load Slides');
});
};
Here's an example module that does this

And a user group video I did years ago on this module.

Ajax, prevent multiple request on click

I'm trying to prevent multiple requests when user click on login or register button. This is my code, but it doesn't work. Just the first time works fine, then return false..
$('#do-login').click(function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
if ( $(this).data('requestRunning') ) {
return;
}
$(this).data('requestRunning', true);
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "/php/auth/login.php",
data: $("#login-form").serialize(),
success: function(msg) {
//stuffs
},
complete: function() {
$(this).data('requestRunning', false);
}
});
});
Any ideas? Thanks!
The problem is here:
complete: function() {
$(this).data('requestRunning', false);
}
this no longer points to the button.
$('#do-login').click(function(e) {
var me = $(this);
e.preventDefault();
if ( me.data('requestRunning') ) {
return;
}
me.data('requestRunning', true);
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "/php/auth/login.php",
data: $("#login-form").serialize(),
success: function(msg) {
//stuffs
},
complete: function() {
me.data('requestRunning', false);
}
});
});
Use on() and off(), that's what they are there for :
$('#do-login').on('click', login);
function login(e) {
e.preventDefault();
var that = $(this);
that.off('click'); // remove handler
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "/php/auth/login.php",
data: $("#login-form").serialize()
}).done(function(msg) {
// do stuff
}).always(function() {
that.on('click', login); // add handler back after ajax
});
});
In your ajax callbacks the context (this) changes from the outer function, you can set it to be the same by using the context property in $.ajax
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "/php/auth/login.php",
data: $("#login-form").serialize(),
context: this, //<-----
success: function(msg) {
//stuffs
},
complete: function() {
$(this).data('requestRunning', false);
}
});
You can disable the button.
$(this).prop('disabled', true);
I have also faced a similar problem.
Just adding $('#do-login').attr("disabled", true); gives me the solution.
$('#do-login').click(function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
$('#do-login').attr("disabled", true);
.........
.........
Here do-login is button id.
I've tried this and worked very fine for me, I was having trouble that $.ajax send more request until results return,
var settings = {
"url": "/php/auth/login.php",
"method": "POST",
"timeout": 0,
"async": false,
"headers": {
"Content-Type": "application/json; charset=utf-8"
},
"data": jsondata, //data pass here is in JSON format
};
$.ajax(settings).done(function (ress) {
try{
console.log(ress, "Result from Ajax here");
}
catch(error){
alert(error);
console.log(ress);
}
});
async : false worked for me.
Thanks.
Or you can do it by $(this).addClass("disabled"); to you button or link and after click is performed, you can $(this).removeClass("disabled");.
// CSS
.disabled{
cursor: not-allowed;
}
// JQUERY
$('#do-login').click(function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
$(this).addClass("disabled");
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "/php/auth/login.php",
data: $("#login-form").serialize(),
context: this,
success: function(msg) {
//do more here
$(this).removeClass("disabled");
},
});
});
P.S. If you use bootstrap css, you do not need the css part.
I found the approach useful. I've implemented it as a general purpose function for jQuery with ES6.
export default function (button, promise) {
const $button = $(button);
const semaphore = 'requestRunning';
if ($button.data(semaphore)) return null;
$button.data(semaphore, true);
return promise().always(() => {
$button.data(semaphore, false);
});
}
Because $.ajax() returns a promise, you simply pass in the promise and the function takes care of the rest.
Roughly speaking, here's the usage.
import preventDoubleClick from './preventdoubleclick';
...
button.click(() => {
preventDoubleClick(this, () => $.ajax()
.done(() => { console.log("success") }));
});
This function can help you with control multi Ajax requests and it's has timeout function which can return flag status to 0 after ex. 10sec (In case the server took more than 10 seconds to respond)
var Request_Controller = function(Request_Name = '', Reactivate_Timeout = 10000)
{
var a = this;
a.Start_Request = function(){
if(window.Requests == undefined){
window.Requests = {};
}
window.Requests[Request_Name] = {'Status' : 1, 'Time': + new Date()};
}
a.End_Request = function(){
if(window.Requests == undefined){
window.Requests = [];
}
window.Requests[Request_Name] = undefined;
}
a.Is_Request_Running = function(){
if(window.Requests == undefined || window.Requests[Request_Name] == undefined){
return 0;
}else{
var Time = + new Date();
// Reactivate the request flag if server take more than 10 sec to respond
if(window.Requests[Request_Name]['Time'] < (Time - Reactivate_Timeout))
{
return 0;
}else{
return 1
}
}
}
}
To use it:
var Request_Flag = new Request_Controller('Your_Request_Name');
if(!Request_Flag.Is_Request_Running()){
Request_Flag.Start_Request();
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "/php/auth/login.php",
data: $("#login-form").serialize(),
success: function(msg) {
//stuffs
},
complete: function() {
Request_Flag.End_Request();
}
});
}
for prevent multiple ajax request in whole site. For example: If use ajax request in other ajax page, Using ajax in php loop, etc, Give you multiple ajax request with one result. I have solution:
Use window.onload = function() { ... }
instead of
$(document).ready(function(){ ... });
on the main index.php page. Its will be prevent all multi request. :)
