I have a table and my webpage as
<table>
<tr>
<td>
.....
.....
</td>
<td>
<img src="mylogo.jpg"/>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
the contents of the first <td> is changing dynamically. so the height of this <td> is also changing. this dynamic changing is affecting the second <td> as the position of the image is also changing.
How can i make the image in a static place in that <td> element.
you meant that the the picture's position always changes to center of the <td>??
then you can add valign="top" property to the td which contains your image
so, not caring how long your first <td> is the image will stay at top of the <td>
You could use CSS:
#mytable{
position:relative;
}
#myimage{
position:absolute;
top: ___;
left: ___;
}
Replace ___ with the desired distance.
Edit:
But if what you want is a background, then you could better use:
HTML:
<table id="mytable">
<tr>
<td>
.....
.....
</td>
</tr>
</table>
CSS:
#mytable{
background: url('mylogo.jpg');
}
And if you want to adjust the position, see http://www.w3schools.com/cssref/pr_background-position.asp

I have looked everywhere, but my code does not work at all. I simply want to display the content of the td I'm clicking on.
I have this table:
<tr class='rowData' tooltip='{caracteristicas}'>
<td nowrap class='Body'><a href='{caracteristicas}' target="_blank" style="color:black" onClick='return confirm("VOCÊ SERÁ REDIRECIONADO PARA:\r\r {caracteristicas}")'>{inputDescItem}</a></td>
<td nowrap class='Body' align='right'>{quantidade} {hiddenCodigoItem}</td>
<td nowrap class='Body' align='center'>{grupoEstoque}</td>
<td nowrap class='Body' align='center'>{inputCodigoItem}</td>
<td nowrap class='Body' align='center'>{btnAtualizaItem}</td>
<td nowrap class='Body' align='center'><button type="button" class="btnTest">Assign</button></td>
<td nowrap class='Body' align='center' class="testNameClass" name="output" style="display:none;">{caracteristicas}</td>
</tr>
I want it so that when I click on the CLICK ME tag, it will display (in a pop-up, alert, modal or anything) the content of the below tag (that I'm not displaying).
I have the following javascript:
$("btnTest").on("click", function() {
alert($(this).closest('tr').find('testNameClass').val());
});
I'm not very good at JS so please go easy on me.
Look like you missing
$(".btnTest") instead of $("btnTest")
and just try
$(".btnTest").on("click", function() {
alert($(this).parents('tr').find('.testNameClass').val());
});
To target specific elements using a class you need to use a dot in front of the class name. In your case .btnTest and .testNameClass.
$(".btnTest").on("click", function() {
alert($(this).closest('tr').find('.testNameClass').text());
});
As you are looking for the text inside the td element you should use .text() instead of .val()
In the below example column ent_3 is hidden and you will get its values using the script mentioned above.
$(".btnTest").on("click", function() {
alert($(this).closest('tr').find('.testNameClass').text());
});
.testNameClass {
display: none;
}
table {
border-collapse: collapse;
}
th, td { border: 1px solid #000; padding: 10px; }
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<table class="table table-bordered" id="dataTable">
<thead>
<tr>
<th>pk</th>
<th>ent_1</th>
<th>ent_2</th>
<th>ent_3</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td>PK Row 0</td>
<td>Ent_1</td>
<td><button type="button" class="btnTest">Assign</button></td>
<td class="testNameClass">Row 0 Ent_3</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>PK Row 1</td>
<td>Ent_1</td>
<td><button type="button" class="btnTest">Assign</button></td>
<td class="testNameClass">Row 1 Ent_3</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>PK Row 2</td>
<td>Ent_1</td>
<td><button type="button" class="btnTest">Assign</button></td>
<td class="testNameClass">Row 2 Ent_3</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
Your method will be handed a reference to the MouseEvent which represents details of the click. Since it is an Event, it has a currentTarget which represents an "element" in the so-called DOM ... an internal data-structure which represents the HTML. This data structure is in the form of a tree, where each node has one parent, two siblings, and some children. You can now write code to "walk up the tree" until you encounter a td node. The first one you come to is the innermost containing td.
I think you are targeting is incorrect use a . before the class name - also I see two classes in one element I set this up for you here have a look

$(".btnTest").on("click", function() {
alert($('.testNameClass').html());
});

I am rewriting a web application that visually represents data and would like to make the result fill the available width automatically (the previous version had a few user selectable scaling factors). I have simplified the layout to this:
.bar {
height: 25px;
background: green;
color: white;
}
<table>
<thead>
<tr>
<th></th>
<th>column #1</th>
<th>column #2</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td>row #1</td>
<td>
<div class="bar" style="width:50px">
cell #1
</div>
</td>
<td>
<div class="bar" style="width:150px">
cell #2
</div>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>row #2</td>
<td>
<div class="bar" style="width:100px">
cell #3
</div>
</td>
<td>
<div class="bar" style="width:75px">
cell #4
</div>
</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
The width of the bars should be adjusted so that the table as a whole fills the horizontally available space (the left column should keep its width and ideally the height of the table should not be altered). The amount of columns as well as the amount of rows will vary.
I have full control over the generated html, so the solution may use a different markup (just note that the calculated bar widths are not limited to a few values).
It is important that the relative lengths of the bars are not changed. In this example, the bar in cell #4 should always be 50% longer than the one in cell #1. It should be possible to have text inside the bars and it should not be stretched (therefore, I could not solve my problem with CSS transformations).
The solution may use JavaScript. I think that I could make it work using only JavaScript by measuring the left over space and then scaling each bar manually, but this seems fragile and difficult to maintain to me (the given example is simplified).
Is there an elegant solution? I found it quite hard to search for this problem, so I might have overlooked something (usually I never need to ask questions as others have had similar problems before).
Edit: It seems that I wrote too much text and the actual question became unclear. I am looking for a solution that scales the bars inside the table from the given code snippet so that the table takes up all the available vertical horizontal (too hasty edit) space. The caveat is, that the contained bars should keep their relative lengths.
You can accomplish what you want with just a little bit of JavaScript and a slightly modified CSS file. This will calculate the number of columns (minus the initial column) and will distribute their width evenly.
<style>
.bar {
height: 25px;
background: green;
color: white;
}
table{
width: 100%;
}
table tbody tr td:first-child{
width: 20%;
}
table tbody tr td{
width: 40%;
}
</style>
Then your HTML
<table>
<thead>
<tr>
<th></th>
<th>column #1</th>
<th>column #2</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td>row #1</td>
<td>
<div class="bar" data-value="50">
cell #1
</div>
</td>
<td>
<div class="bar" data-value="100">
cell #2
</div>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>row #2</td>
<td>
<div class="bar" data-value="80">
cell #3
</div>
</td>
<td>
<div class="bar" data-value="75">
cell #4
</div>
</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
Then some simple JavaScript:
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.12.4/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script>
$(document).ready(function(){
var v, b, n, max = 0;
var t = $('table');
var w = t.width();
// Set equal width for all columns
var c = (80/(t.find('thead tr th').length-1));
// Set widths of internal bars relative to the max value
$('.bar')
.parent()
.css({width: c + "%"})
.end()
.each(function(){
// Determines max value
v = parseFloat($(this).attr('data-value'));
if(v>max){
max = v;
}
})
.each(function(){
// Sets each bar to be a percent width based on max value
b = $(this);
n = (((parseFloat(b.attr('data-value')) / max) * 100));
b.css({width: n + "%"})
});
});
</script>
Create a class on the first column you require to be "fixed",also 2nd and 3rd columns.Add id'sto the 4 div bars so we can manipulate them with respect to their widths:
HTML
<table>
<thead>
<tr>
<th class="fixed"></th>
<th class="col">column #1</th>
<th class="col">column #2</th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td class="fixed">row #1</td>
<td class="col">
<div class="bar" id="cell1" style="width:50px">
cell #1
</div>
</td>
<td class="col">
<div class="bar" id="cell2" style="width:150px">
cell #2
</div>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="fixed">row #2</td>
<td class="col">
<div class="bar" id="cell3" style="width:100px">
cell #3
</div>
</td>
<td class="col">
<div class="bar" id="cell4" style="width:75px">
cell #4
</div>
</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
Next apply 100% width on the table, then apply the desired widths to your three columns respectively so that they sum up to 100%.
CSS
table{
width: 100%;
}
.bar {
height: 25px;
background: green;
color: white;
}
.fixed{
width: 200px;
text-align: center;
}
.col{
text-align: left;
width: auto;
}
Finally,get each div by its id and set its width as follows,taking in account that 150px is your base here:
JS
document.getElementById("cell1").style.width = ((50/150)*100)+"%";
document.getElementById("cell2").style.width = ((150/150)*100)+"%";
document.getElementById("cell3").style.width = ((100/150)*100)+"%";
document.getElementById("cell4").style.width = ((75/150)*100)+"%";
I hope that was helpful!
Say I have a table:
<table id="table1" border="1">
<tr>
<td id='id1' style="width:200px"></td>
<td id='id2' style="width:200px">2222</td>
</tr>
</table>
I am using following code to add images to these table cells
$('#id1').append('<img src=images/image1.jpg />');
$('#id1').append('<img src=images/image2.jpg />');
$('#id1').append('<img src=images/image3.jpg />');
$('#id2').append('<img src=images/image4.jpg />');
Now what I want to achieve is this:
1. for cell "id2", i want the image always align to the right so it's not next to the text.
2. for cell "id1", since those 3 images has different sizes (24x24, 32x32, 24x24), i don't want them to be next to each other. what I want is that as if there are 3 small cells in that cell, each with size 32x32, and put those images into those small cells one by one.
I am not good at html or javascript. is it possible to do so?
CSS
#id2 img { float: right; }
HTML
<table id="table1" border="1">
<tr>
<td id='id1' style="width:200px"><table><tr></tr></table></td>
<td id='id2' style="width:200px">2222</td>
</tr>
</table>
Javascript
$('#id1').find('tr').append('<td><img src=images/image1.jpg /></td>');
...
Based off item #2 I'd say you're not done defining your table. You need to add a nested table in #id2 (the merits of this approach can be debated later).
So your table would be
<table>
<tr>
<td id="id1"></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>
<table>
<tr>
<td id="id1a"></td>
<td id="id1b"></td>
<td id="id1c"></td>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
From there you'd append your images to the sub-cells.
This is my code.
<table id="addComments" style="width:430px; table-layout:fixed; display:none; padding-right:3px; padding-left:3px;">
<tr>
<td colspan="3">
<textarea id="textArea" rows="15" cols="0" style="width:430px; overflow:hidden;"></textarea>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>
<div id="noComments" style="color:red; display:none;">Please write your comments.</div>
</td>
<td>
here is some image whose display is none
</td>
<td>
<input id="commentBtn" type="button" onclick="getTxt()" value="Add Comments" class="button default bt-large"/>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
In which row 1 is colspan and in row 2 there are three columns in which 2 columns are display none when one of the hidden column visible the first row extends automatically please any solution
You are already having a div to display the message. get rid of the 3 columns and just use a single column. Show/hide column doesn't work nice in browsers. For image and button, just mention display: inline-block.
Use visibility: hidden; instead of display:none; this will keep space for contents but not visible.
I have a page with three rows of main information that all have a 'More Info' button attached, sort of like wefollow.com and their info button.
When the 'More Info' link is clicked a <tr> with a class of "mi" slides down above the main info.
The problem that I am getting is hiding the <tr> before the 'More Info' link is clicked. There is just a blank space where the <tr> is. The info in the <tr> is being hidden with jQuery (script below) and then displays when 'More Info' is clicked.
I tried hiding the "mi" with CSS but when the 'More Info' button is clicked, nothing happens.
Any help would be awesome. Thanks.
Scripts

<table>
<tbody>
<tr id="info-1"> </tr>
<tr class="mi">
<td>
<div id="1" class="more-information" />
</td>
</tr>
<tr class="">
<td> </td>
<td> </td>
<td> <a id="1" class="more-info" href="#">More info</a> </td>
</tbody>
</table>
listing.js
$(function(){
$(".more-information").hide();
$(".more-info").click(function () {
var divname= this.id;
$("#"+divname).load("getinfo.php").slideToggle("slow").siblings().hide("slow");
return false;
});
First problem is you're repeating IDs. They need to be unique. That's no doubt throwing off your code.
<table>
<tbody>
<tr id="info-1"> </tr>
<tr class="mi">
<td><div id="more-1" class="more-information">More information</div></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td></td>
<td></td>
<td><a id="1" class="more-info" href="#">More info</a></td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
combined with:
$(function() {
$("a.more-info").click(function() {
$("#more-" + this.id).load("getinfo.php").slideToggle("slow").siblings().hide("slow");
});
});
Not sure why you need to hide siblings in the above though.
Also, I wouldn't hide the "more-information" divs in jquery. Just add CSS for that:
div.more-information { display: none; }
You are hiding the more-information div but you are not hiding its parent element, the <tr> with class mi. Try putting the id attribute in the <tr> instead of the enclosed div, and hiding the whole row. Also, you'll have to take cletus' advice about not repeating id's and unnecessary sibling hiding.
