I'm working with MarkDownDeep. It has a similar "insert image" function like SO does.
I'd like to extend this function to use a bootstrap modal that would allow the user to upload their own images or at least get a typeahead working so that a user could pick something uploaded from another page.
I've tried to use a callback function in replace of the the prompt below but it doesn't insert str into the textbox like the original function.
pub.cmd_img = function (ctx) {
ctx.TrimSelection();
if (!ctx.CheckSimpleSelection())
return false;
imagePopUp(function(results) {
$("#" + ctx.m_textarea.id).focus();
var url = results;
if (url === null)
return false;
var alttext = ctx.getSelectedText();
if (alttext.length == 0) {
alttext = "Image Text";
}
var str = "![" + alttext + "](" + url + ")";
ctx.ReplaceSelection(str);
ctx.m_selectionStart += 2;
ctx.m_selectionEnd = ctx.m_selectionStart + alttext.length;
return true;
});
return false;
uploadImageUrl is a holding variable because at the moment I'm using an iframe inside the modal so the user can upload, the iframe then sets parent.uploadImageUrl
uploadImageUrl = "baz";
function imagePopUp(callback) {
$('#imageUpload').modal('show');
$('#confirmTrue').click(function () {
$('#imageUpload').modal('hide');
if (callback) callback(uploadImageUrl);
});
}
Original
pub.cmd_img = function (ctx) {
ctx.TrimSelection();
if (!ctx.CheckSimpleSelection())
return false;
var url = prompt("Enter the image URL"); //need to change what this does
if (url === null)
return false;
var alttext = ctx.getSelectedText();
if (alttext.length == 0) {
alttext = "Image Text";
}
var str = "![" + alttext + "](" + url + ")";
ctx.ReplaceSelection(str);
ctx.m_selectionStart += 2;
ctx.m_selectionEnd = ctx.m_selectionStart + alttext.length;
return true;
};
You can see my none-working fiddle
This should do the trick:
pub.cmd_img = function(ctx){
ctx.TrimSelection();
if (!ctx.CheckSimpleSelection())
return false;
//call popup
imagePopUp(function(results){
$("#" + ctx.m_textarea.id).focus();
var url = results;
if (url === null)
return false;
var alttext = ctx.getSelectedText();
if (alttext.length == 0){
alttext = "Image Text";
}
var str = "![" + alttext + "](" + url + ")";
var editor = $(ctx.m_textarea).data("mdd");
editor.cmd_img_core = function(state){
state.ReplaceSelection(str);
state.m_selectionStart += 2;
state.m_selectionEnd = state.m_selectionStart + alttext.length;
return true;
};
editor.InvokeCommand("img_core");
delete editor.cmd_img_core;
});
return false;
};
I had some issues with this code, in that when I tried to insert a second image into the editor it would insert the URL twice, and the third image three times and so on. It seemed to be running the imagePopup callback the same number of times as the number of images inserted. I resolved the issue with the following changes. Not perfect but it works:
var isImageInserted = false;
pub.cmd_img = function (ctx) {
ctx.TrimSelection();
if (!ctx.CheckSimpleSelection())
return false;
isImageInserted = false;
//call popup
imagePopUp(function (results) {
$("#" + ctx.m_textarea.id).focus();
var url = results;
if (url === null)
return false;
var alttext = ctx.getSelectedText();
if (alttext.length == 0) {
alttext = "Image Text";
}
var str = "";
if (!alttext.indexOf(url) > -1) {
str = "![" + alttext + "](" + url + ")";
} else {
str = alttext;
}
var editor = $(ctx.m_textarea).data("mdd");
if (!isImageInserted) {
editor.cmd_img_core = function (state) {
state.ReplaceSelection(str);
state.m_selectionStart += 2;
state.m_selectionEnd = state.m_selectionStart + alttext.length;
isImageInserted = true;
return true;
};
editor.InvokeCommand("img_core");
delete editor.cmd_img_core;
}
});
return false;
}
hope this helps someone else as pretty much every markdowndeep search seems to come here.

I am trying to use a php function declared in a separate php file in a Javascript file. Do you know how to do ?
Here is my PHP code (download.php) :
<?php
$passthru = function ($reqchain)
{
$reqchain = $_SERVER['QUERY_STRING']; //chaîne de requête (partie de l'URL après le ?) qui sert à se connecter à la page (ex: file=C:/xampp/htdocs/projet/siteAM.PNG)
$path = substr($reqchain, 5);
// $fullpath = $dir.$_GET[$file];
header('Content-Type: '.mime_content_type($path));
header('Content-Length: '.filesize($path));
header('Content-Transfer-Encoding: Binary');
header('Content-Disposition: inline; filename="'.basename($reqchain).'"');
fpassthru(fopen($path, 'rb'));
}
?>
And here is my Javascript code (script.js) (I have written a big comment to mark where I try to call my function, it is close to the end of the code) :
$(function(){
var filemanager = $('.filemanager'),

// Start by fetching the file data from scan.php with an AJAX request
$.get('scan.php', 'download.php', function(data) {

I've got some JS code that runs eventually - I've got no idea whats's wrong.
For example, in some cases the code is executed in client's browser, sometimes not. We have a server indicating if a client reached the server from browser. 2/15 of clients don't get the job done.
Here's the code example.

Maybe there're kinds o extensions that block the script execution.
Almost all modern browsers have options to disable js .
e.g. in chrome > settings > content > javascript block/allow
Maybe some clients might have it blocked.
But by default its allowed by browsers.
Also most browsers have do not track option.
Hope it helps.
Hi there I'm pretty new to using functions and onclick actions to call javascript so I could do with some help. Basically, I've installed a plugin on WordPress which adds a button to the page in the form of a widget and once clicked it starts a script. However, I don't like their button so I'm trying to code my own but I want it to start the script like there's.
Here's the script code:
/*
* Timely BookButton plugin
* Example usage:
* var button = new timelyButton('doedayspa');
*
* Booking process can be kicked off manually by calling the start method on the button instance e.g.
* button.start();
*
*/
// Need this for legacy support of older versions of the BookingButton
var timelyButton;
(function () {
"use strict";
var context = window;
var mobile = {
Android: function () {
return navigator.userAgent.match(/Android/i) ? true : false;

BlackBerry: function () {
return navigator.userAgent.match(/BlackBerry/i) ? true : false;
},

return navigator.userAgent.match(/iPhone|iPod/i) ? true : false;

So how can I run this javascript when I click the button?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
You could create a script tag automatically if the button has been clicked.
document.getElementById('myButton').addEventListener('click', () => {
const script = document.createElement("script");
script.src = 'my-other-file.js';
document.head.appendChild(script);
})
<button id="myButton">Load JS File</button>
I have been experimenting with cute file browser (perfect for my project).
Cute File Browser
But came accross a incomaptibiliy issue. Im not getting any errors in console, but im also not getting any elements being rendered. I have switched libraries about and I think this plugin only works with jquery version 1.11.0, the version my project is using is 1.11.3.
How should I attempt to fix/update this small script?

I tweaked certain jquery methods around in the render function using the 1.11.3 version and it appears animate() was causing the issues.
Change Script.js line 375:
From fileList.animate({'display':'inline-block'});
To fileList.css('display','inline-block');.
EDIT:
I noticed a slightly more improved method of revealing the hidden filelist without using inline styles and adding it to a more appoporate section of the script. Simply use filelist.show() in the following section of the render function.
change Script.js line 286-291:
if(!scannedFolders.length && !scannedFiles.length) {
filemanager.find('.nothingfound').show();
fileList.hide();
}
else {
filemanager.find('.nothingfound').hide();
fileList.show();
}
Hiding the filelist using filelist.hide() also helped me with a style bug relating to the .nothing-found error message being pushed down to the bottom of the page when needing to use a fixed height on the filelist.
Now im not depenedant on what version of jquery im using. Hope this helps others using this nice little script.
I have been working on a formatting toolbar for a textarea, much like the toolbar for writing questions on this very site (with the bold, italic, underline buttons). The only difference is that I need the buttons to make the text actually bold not just add a bold tag. What I need is similar to the Instructables.com rich comment editor, or the newgrounds.com comment editor, or google docs. Does anyone have a clue how I can make some text in a textarea show up bold, italic, or underlined but keep the rest of it?
There are lots of implementations of javascript WYSIWYG eitors. FCKEditor (now CKEditor) was one of the first. TinyMCE was popular for a long time. I've recently used TinyEditor.
There's also nicedit, 10 editors listed and compared here, not to mention the answers previously provided here on SO to the question of what's available.
An they don't have to produce HTML - there are also editors producing Wiki markup
Why reinvent the wheel?
I found how to create own Rich Text Editor just like this :

if (typeof $.fn.rte === "undefined") {
var defaults = {
content_css_url: "rte.css",
media_url: "images",
dot_net_button_class: null,
max_height: 350
};
$.fn.rte = function (options) {
$.fn.rte.html = function (iframe) {
return iframe.contentWindow.document.getElementsByTagName("body")[0].innerHTML;
};
var opts = $.extend(defaults, options);
return this.each(function () {
var textarea = $(this);
var iframe;
var myID = textarea.attr("id");
var settings = $.meta ? $.extend({}, opts, textarea.data()) : opts;
var sel = {
cmdBtnSelector: "." + settings.dot_net_button_class
};
function enableDesignMode() {
var content = textarea.val();
if ($.trim(content) == '') {

}

$(iframe).contents().find("body").html(content);

The contentEditable DOM attribute is used make the document or a section of it editable. This doesn't work with a <textarea>; more often an <iframe> is created and the document inside of it used as an editor.
Mark Pilgrim has an article explaining it on the blog of the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group. It includes an example page showing some of the features in use.
