I want to change the background of the html page with the following function:
<script type='text/javascript'>
var imageID=0;
function changeimage(every_seconds){
//change the image
if(!imageID){
document.body.src="1.jpg";
imageID++;
alert(imageID++);
}
else{if(imageID==1){
document.body.src="2.jpg";
imageID++;
alert(imageID++);
}else{if(imageID==2){
document.body.src="3.jpg";
imageID=0;
alert(imageID++);
}}}
//call same function again for x of seconds
setTimeout("changeimage("+every_seconds+")",((every_seconds)*1000));
}
</script>
<body onload="hidemenu(); testPage(); changeimage(2)">
</body>
But it wont. I know there is syntax error in document.body.src but can anyone tell me what is the correct way to change as the background image is coming through css.
the body does not have an attribute named src. try changing the style attribute:
document.body.setAttribute('style', 'background-image: url(1.jpg)');

I am trying to toggle an image if I click on it. The JavaScript does seem to replace the image, however, the updated image does not appear on the screen. Here is my HTML code:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<script src="myscript.js" defer></script>
<div><img id="light" src="images/light_off.png" width="200px"></div>
</html>
and my JavaScript code:
var light_src = document.getElementById('light').src;
var image = light_src.substring(light_src.lastIndexOf("/")+1);
light.addEventListener("click", function(){
if (image == "light_off.png"){
alert("1");
light_src = "file:///H:/mydir/images/light_on.png";
}
else {
alert("2");
light_src = "file:///H:/mydir/images/light_off.png";
}
});
The source does seem to be changing because each time I click on the image, the alert toggles between 1 and 2. However, the image does not appear to change on the screen.
I have verified that both images work by copying the URL into the browser address bar.
What am I doing wrong?
The problem is that you're changing the value of light_src, not the element's source. In other words, light_src is a copy of the source, and changing it does not change the images source.
Instead of storing the source in a variable, you should just store the image element, like this:
// The image URLs
const imageOn = 'file:///H:/mydir/images/light_on.png'
const imageOff = 'file:///H:/mydir/images/light_on.png'
// Store the image element to use later
const imageElement = document.getElementById('light')
// Add the event listener
imageElement.addEventListener("click", function() {
if (imageElement.src === imageOn) {
imageElement.src = imageOff
console.log('Switched light off')
} else {
imageElement.src = imageOn
console.log('Switched light on')
}
});
Dont use .src with the selector
var light=document.getElementById('light');
var image = light.src.substring(light.src.lastIndexOf("/")+1);
light.addEventListener("click", function(){
if (image == "light_off.png"){
console.log(light.src);
light.src = "file:///H:/mydir/images/light_on.png";
}
else {
console.log(light.src);
light.src = "file:///H:/mydir/images/light_off.png";
}
});
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<script src="myscript.js" defer></script>
<div><img id="light" src="images/light_off.png" width="200px" alt="image"></div>
</html>
I have a newsfeed in my CMS that pulls preview images as well as teaser text for the feed. The images are all thumbnails # 75x75px. I wanted to have the preview images much larger, but cannot scale an image that small.
I'm wondering what JS I need to run to replace all the URL's to the original image src.
Have:
Need to change them all to the below - which is just replacing 'thumb' with 'large':
This needs to apply to a whole css class; as it is a newsfeed & there will be new articles
Here's where I'm at:
function replaceImgSrc(img,imgTwo) {
var arr=[img,imgTwo];
for(i=0;i<arr.length;i++)
arr[i].each(
function(i,e) {
theImg=$(this),
theImg.attr("src",
function(i,e) {
return e.replace("_thumb","_large")
}
)
}
)
}
If the newsfeed is wrapped in a class, try this way.
function replaceImg($class) {
$class.find("img").each(function(k, el) {
var newSrc = $(el).attr("src").replace("_thumb", "_large");
$(el).attr("src", newSrc);
});
}
replaceImg($("#newsfeed"));
And in your HTML, wrap the newsfeed code inside an identifiable DIV.
<div id="newsfeed"> {{place newsfeed code in here}} </div>
Try this fiddle jsfiddle.net/bharatsing/wkh6da93/
This will find all images in page and change its src with large image.
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#btnLarge").click(function(){
$("img").each(function(){
var src=$(this).attr("src");
src=src.replace("_thumb","_large");
var src=$(this).attr("src",src);
});
});
});
If the assumption is that you have all img elements in an array var imgArray, then you can iterate thru them and update the src attribute like this:
imgArray.forEach(enlargeImageSrc);
function enlargeImageSrc (image) {
image.src = image.src.replace('_thumb', '_large');
}
Try this hovering over the button will make the images with class="show" bigger, as soon as you remove the mouse they are small again.
$("button").mouseenter(function (){
var srcI = $(".show").attr("src");
srcI = srcI.replace("thumb","large");
$(".show").attr("src",srcI);
});
$("button").mouseleave(function (){
var srcI = $(".show").attr("src");
srcI = srcI.replace("large","thumb");
$(".show").attr("src",srcI);
});
button{
display:block;
}
img.show{
max-width:400px;
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div>
<button>Click me</button>
<img class="show" src="http://cdn4.sportngin.com/attachments/news_article/7560/0742/Screen_Shot_2017-01-04_at_11.30.31_AM_thumb.png"/>
</div>
I make a code for you where I take two variables one for large image URL and one for small image URL. I create a function on click on change image button your image url change to big image and it show you big image and then you again click on that button it change big image to small image. You can also see the live demo of this here https://jsfiddle.net/Arsh_kalsi01/3s1uudhe/2/
$(document).ready(function(){
var big_image = "http://cdn4.sportngin.com/attachments/news_article/7560/0742/Screen_Shot_2017-01-04_at_11.30.31_AM_large.png";
var small_image = "http://cdn4.sportngin.com/attachments/news_article/7560/0742/Screen_Shot_2017-01-04_at_11.30.31_AM_thumb.png";
$(document).on("click",".Changeimagetolarge",function(){
var obj = $(this);
obj.removeClass('Changeimagetolarge');
obj.addClass('Changeimagetosmall');
obj.next("img").attr('src',big_image);
});
$(document).on("click",".Changeimagetosmall",function(){
var obj2 = $(this);
obj2.removeClass('Changeimagetosmall');
obj2.addClass('Changeimagetolarge');
obj2.next("img").attr('src',small_image);
});
});
<script

integrity="sha256-hVVnYaiADRTO2PzUGmuLJr8BLUSjGIZsDYGmIJLv2b8="

<div>
<button class="Changeimagetolarge">
Change Image
</button>

</div>
I need to change image when I click on it every time.
I added full path even it's not working.
<script type="text/javascript">
var imageon= document.getElementById("myElement");
function changeImage(){
if (imageon.src=="play1.gif"){
imageon.src="shutdown.png";
}
else if (imageon.src== "shutdown.png") {
imageon.src="play1.gif";
}
};
</script>
<img src="shutdown.png" id="myElement" onclick="changeImage();" style="width:95px"></img>
Javascript:
var pullImage=document.getElementById("change");
function changeImage(){
if (pullImage.src=="C:\Users\Srinivas\Downloads\Compressed\attachments_2\play1.gif") {
pullImage.src="C:\Users\Srinivas\Downloads\Compressed\attachments_2\stop1.png";
};
if (pullImage.src=="C:\Users\Srinivas\Downloads\Compressed\attachments_2\stop1.png"){
pullImage.src="C:\Users\Srinivas\Downloads\Compressed\attachments_2\play1.gif";
}
};
The problem is your path. I recreated the problem and i alerted the actual source which look like this:
You will either have to give the actual full path. Or you dont use the path as refrence, but a html reference. For example a hidden div with value 1 or 2 - for the used image
<div id="imgnumber">1</div>
<script>
var imagediv = document.getElementById("imgnumber");
var imageon= document.getElementById("myImg");
function changeImage(){
if (imagediv.innerHTML == "1"){
imageon.src="b.png";
imagediv.innerHTML = "2";
}
else if (imagediv.innerHTML == "2") {
imageon.src="a.gif";
imagediv.innerHTML = "1";
}
};
</script>
Please use below javascript and place it anywhere below tag you are using
<script type="text/javascript">
var imageon= document.getElementById("myElement");
function changeImage(){
var filename = imageon.src.replace( /^.*?([^\/]+)\..+?$/, '$1' );
if (filename=="play1"){
imageon.src="shutdown.jpg";
}
else if (filename== "shutdown") {
imageon.src="play1.jpg";
}
};
</script>
Using attr function you can change src of image :
$("#my_image").attr("src","second.jpg");
You can also create event eg. put thumbnail and on clicking load original image:
$('#my_image').on({
'click': function(){
$('#my_image').attr('src','second.jpg');
}
});
Is it possible to add a fade in fade out effect to this javascript? At the moment it just loads an image to another div upon hover of first div but with no effect. Thanks in advance.
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
function changeDisplay(bgImageURL)
{
var displayDiv = document.getElementById("displayDiv");
// draw popup image in the div
displayDiv.innerHTML =
'<a class="popup1" href="#v"><img src="' + bgImageURL+ '" alt="" /></a>';
// show the display in case it was hidden before
displayDiv.style.visibility = "visible";
}
function hideDisplay()
{
var displayDiv = document.getElementById("displayDiv");
// hide it when the mouse rolls off the thumbnail
displayDiv.style.visibility = "hidden";
}
</script>
Using jQuery
http://api.jquery.com/fadeIn/
<div id="fade"></div> <!-- make sure this is initially hidden -->
<script type="text/javascript">
$('#fade').fadeIn('slow', function() {
// When animation is complete, it runs this function
});
</script>
fadeOut: http://api.jquery.com/fadeOut/
simple change in your existing code
include jquery plugin before your javascript code and change
display function
displayDiv.style.visibility = "visible"; to displayDiv.fadeIn('slow');
hide function
displayDiv.style.visibility = "visible"; to displayDiv.fadeOut();
HI everybody
i need to know if there are a way to change the background image after a specific time like 10 sec or 30 sec...etc.
you know like yahoo Login mail "it's changing the background daily!!"
if there is a way using JQuery or CSS or html or any other thing ,please tell me
you can make it with javascript function
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<script type='text/javascript'>
var imageID=0;
function changeimage(every_seconds){
//change the image
if(!imageID){
document.getElementById("myimage").src="http://www.all-freeware.com/images/full/38943-nice_feathers_free_screensaver_desktop_screen_savers__nature.jpeg";
imageID++;
}
else{if(imageID==1){
document.getElementById("myimage").src="http://www.hickerphoto.com/data/media/186/flower-bouquet-nice_12128.jpg";
imageID++;
}else{if(imageID==2){
document.getElementById("myimage").src="http://www.photos.a-vsp.com/fotodb/14_green_cones.jpg";
imageID=0;
}}}
//call same function again for x of seconds
setTimeout("changeimage("+every_seconds+")",((every_seconds)*1000));
}
</script>
</head>
<body style='background:black;' onload='changeimage(2)'>
<div style='position:absolute;width:100%;height:100%;left:0px;top:0px;' align='center'><img width='300px' height='250px' id='myimage' src='http://www.photos.a-vsp.com/fotodb/14_green_cones.jpg'/></div>
</body></html>
try this one! :)
You could probably achieve it using CSS3 webkit animations but the trade off is it will only work in the likes of Chrome and Safari but you won't require any JavaScript at all.
The jQuery suggestion above is your best bet here I guess.
You could use javascript's setTimeout or setInterval to do this, or look into JQuery's Timers
EDIT:
With JQuery, this will change the background after 1 sec:
$(window).oneTime(1000, function() {
// change your background image here
});
You could do it with a function and setTimeout:
function changeBG()
{
var body = document.getElementsByTagName("body")[0];
body.style.backgroundImage = "url(myimage.gif)";
setTimeout("changeBG",30000); // Change every 30 seconds
}
window.onload = changeBG;
(untested so it might need a tweak or 2)
If you're using the Prototype library:
var changeBackground = function() {
$$('body').first().setStyle({
backgroundImage: 'newImage.jpg'
});
};
changeBackground.delay(15);
