I have developed a javascript based widget application having IM features, use case of this widget will be to embed it on any web page.
we have embedded this widget app to our organizational portal, and IM is working fine. Now the management wants if we can have notification for any incoming IM, if the browser is minimized or is in the background. Notification on task bar as gtalk was providing on windows XP.
But now a days, these notifications are not available on windows 7, even facebook has an messenger embedded with their FB page and even no notification is there.
I searched internet for solution but as of now found nothing. It seems for desktop application it can be done for widget kind of application is it feasible??
Please help..
You can change the window title to the notification. This is similar to what Facebook does.

This should help you out.

I have a "Progressive Web App" installed to my phone's homescreen.
The Facebook Javascript SDK it trying to open a login dialog popup window using window.open.
This results in an about:blank tab being opened in Chrome which never loads, and never redirects the user back to the web app.
Does anyone have any advice or experience with this problem? I imagine since these "Homescreen Apps" are fairly new, this might not be a well known issue (yet).
Looks like it was a bug with Chrome itself. Should be fixed by now (Chrome 68 was released the 24th of July).
I am developing an app that sends a verification link via email. When the link in email is clicked, user should be prompted to open the iOS app if it is installed. Otherwise, it will direct to Safari browser for its website app counterpart. In android app, I was able to do this since there is the intent-filter feature in android development. Also, as much as possible, I am avoiding in iOS to redirect to the browser, and open the website, wait for it to load, then open the iOS app installed since it will be costly for the user to wait for the website to load. So the javascript workaround solution is my least option to do.
So I was wondering if there is an iOS counterpart of intent-filter. Or any workaround/implementation would be appreciated.
P.S. I am a newbie here in stackoverflow so go easy on me. thanks :))
I'd like to add to my website a piece of javascript code that will share the current page to the facebook's user profile.
https://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u={URL}
It works well in the desktop version. In the mobile version it open a new Safari tab/window.
Is there a way to open the facebook native app with the share page?
If I'm reading this correctly, your question is very similar to another on the website. To quote an answer there:
The Facebook app does not officially support deep linking so what you are trying to do is not possible (right now).
I've just published in the Apple's Appstore a CocoonJS powered Javascript game that integrates some Facebook functions. After creating my app to Facebook, I spent weeks testing it in the CocoonJS Launcher, and I found the following:
In iOS, the user should grant permissions to apps that tries to access Facebook through the phone's Settings -> Facebook, where a list of apps appear.
I did so with the CocoonJS Launcher and then Facebook started working as expected. However, the final app (generated through the Cloud Compiler) has just been published in the store and, after trying to access Facebook from within the app, the app says that the user should grant permission from Facebook's settings (as I did with the Launcher), but it doesn't appear at the phone's Settings -> Facebook (that is, the list of apps that use Facebook and where it appeared the Launcher).
I've created my app in Facebook, retrieved its ID number, put it in the CocoonJS Cloud Compiler (both for Apple and Android) and, of course, called the "init" function inside the game with the corresponding Facebook app code... Even though it worked with the Launcher, it doesn't work with the app, and now my app is alive and no Facebook integration can be done (which is a real mess, because almost every game function uses it now)...
How could I solve it? What can be happening? Might it have something to do with the Cloud Compiler, or maybe it's related to the JS code?
Thanks in advance for your time and effort! :)
As states in help center, do some testing first with a custom launcher:

The CocoonJS launcher you download from the store has the configuration string of Ludei:

The problem may not have been in the submission, but in the development of the application.
In case you feel it's a bug, please fill a bug report with the following template in their help center.

I've had a search around here and either
The answer isn't here; or
The search engine on here sucks
but,
I am trying to add FB integration to my Windows 8 Metro (yeah I said it) JavaScript app. the only problem is I cant work out what type of app I need to create on Facebook. There are only 3 options, iOs, android, and Web App. If I choose Web App, it asks for a mobile web URL, and of course the app isn't on the web so I assume this will be a problem. Further to this is he fact that the code I need to include in my "mobile app" asks me to define a channelUrl (again, no URL, as its a metro app) so I am very confused.
Anyone here gotten this successfully working and provide me a hint as to which type of FB app I need to create so that I can get the ball rolling?
Choose the first option Website with Facebook Login. In Site Url, you should be able to put down whatever you want, eg your own site, blog, etc.
You will use Web authentication broker. See
