i have the following script that shows a div when a link is clicked...
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.accordion ul li h1').click(function() { $(this).parent().parent().find('.ac:visible').slideToggle().parent().removeClass('active'); if ($(this).next().is(':hidden')) $(this).next().slideToggle().parent().addClass('active'); });
});
I also have a div on my page
<div id="shortinfo">short info</div>
How would i go about setting short info to didssapear when the link is clicked,, and reappear once its clicked again?
I tried adding
<h1 onclick="document.getElementById('shortinfo').style.display='none'">
but then i need it to reappear once its clicked again?
this is my new code, doesnt seem to work witht he toggle
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.accordion ul li h1').click(function() { $(this).parent().parent().find('.ac:visible').slideToggle().parent().removeClass('active'); if ($(this).next().is(':hidden')) $(this).next().slideToggle().parent().addClass('active'); });
$('#shortinfo').toggle();
});
As you are using JQuery, you can use Toggle method to display or hide the element: http://api.jquery.com/toggle/
You could then do the following:
$('#shortinfo').toggle();
To integrate it with your h1 onclick, it would become:
<h1 onclick="$('#shortinfo').toggle()">
delete that onclick
$("#shortinfo").toggle();

I have several elements on a page like bottom code.
<div>
click
some content
</div>
They can be clicked and jQuery picks that click. However one of the elements has a a link that is clicked should not be picked as a click of the parent element.
$('div:not(#notme)').on('click', function(e) {
// do something
});
Doesn't seem to work for some reason...
Use :has selector to selecting div element has specific child. In :has use :not.
$("div:has(a:not(#notme))").on("click", function(e) {
console.log("clicked");
});
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div>
click
some content
</div>
<div>
<a href="#" >click2</a>
some content 2
</div>
You may try:
$('div').on('click', function(e) {
if($(e.target).attr("id") !== "notme") {
// do something
}
});
$('#notme').on('click', function(e) {
e.stopPropagation();
});
I am new to Html,jQuery coding.I want to change background color of item selected(clicked) of an li.
I have my code below :
#In HTML#
<div id="major" class="major-funds form-group"><strong>Major funds (above 1.0% market share)</strong>
<ul>
<li style="list-style: none; display:inline;padding-left:5px;" class="text-primary" ng-click="GetProducts(x.code)" ng-repeat="x in Major">{{x.code}}</li>
</ul>
</div>
# In controller#
$('#major li').click(function () {
$('li').removeClass('text-primary.selected');
$(this).addClass('text-primary.selected');
});
What am I doing wrong ? When I click on li item, It doesn't call that function.
IF I use this dynamic list it doesn't hit that function but if I use static list it does hit that function.How should I implement click function for dynamic list?
When I click on li item, It doesn't call that function.
Are you sure JQuery is loaded properly?
Are you sure, you're not setting another click event for your list items?
Is your CSS defined correctly?
Anyway, this works for me:
$(document).ready(function () {
$('#major li').click(function () {
$('li').removeClass('selected');
$(this).addClass('selected');
console.log("HERE");
});
});
.selected{
background: #FF00FF;
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.0/jquery.min.js"></script>
<div id="major" class="major-funds form-group"><strong>Major funds (above 1.0% market share)</strong>
<ul>
<li>XXXXX</li>
<li>YYYY</li>
</ul>
</div>
The click event is triggered (check with console.log function) but the action you execute are not defined properly.
$('li').removeClass('text-primary.selected');
$(this).addClass('text-primary.selected');
should be
$('li').removeClass('selected');
$(this).addClass('selected');
If your list is dynamically generated (not in the DOM on page load), the problem may come from the click function. In this case, just use :
$(document).on('click', '#major li', function () {
$('li').removeClass('selected');
$(this).addClass('selected');
});
where you can replace document by the container of your list. Per example :
$('#major').on('click', 'li', function () {
$('li').removeClass('selected');
$(this).addClass('selected');
});
Here is a JSfiddle with working example: https://jsfiddle.net/ztvdnh86/2/
Try this:
# In controller#
$('#major li').click(function () {
$('li.selected').removeClass('text-primary selected');
$(this).addClass('text-primary selected');
});
what you've written 'text-primary.selected' tries to select the element with the tag-name text-primary with the class .selected
what you want to do is to remove the selected class from all the lis with the class text-primary and then add the class selected to the clicked (selected) element:
$('#major li').click(function () {
$('li.text-primary.selected').removeClass('selected');
$(this).addClass('selected');
});
I have an issue using jquery. I have a content that have to become visible when I click on ul li in navigation.
But I'm missing something, when I click, nothing happens. I am not sure why this happens. Please take a look at the provided fiddle near the bottom
Here is the code:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("ul.topnav > li.one").click(function() {
$('.content').hide(500).fadeOut(400);
if ($(this).next().is(':hidden') == true) {
$(this).next().show(400).fadeIn(500);
}
});
$('.content').hide();
});
<ul class="topnav">
<li class="one">test</li>
<li>second</li>
</ul>
<div class="content">Some content here</div>
Here is a fiddle http://jsfiddle.net/2pBge/
Here you go
http://jsfiddle.net/Mc92M/1/
$(document).ready(function(){
$("li.one").on("click", function() {
$('.content').fadeOut(400);
if ($('.content').is(':hidden')) {
$('.content').fadeIn(500);
}
});
$('.content').hide();
});
When you used .next() it is targeting the second li, not content div so nothing shows or hides. I also removed the .hide and .show as you already have fade in/out
If you really want to use the .next() then you would have to do
$(document).ready(function(){
$(".topnav").on("click", function(e) {
if( $(e.target).parent().is('li.one') ) {
$(this).next().toggle();
}
});
$('.content').hide();
});
First of all, your event isn't firing. Just set up a click listener for ul.topnav and delegate the event:
$("ul.topnav").on("click", "li.one", function() { ... });
Then, delete the rest of that nonsense and just use .toggle():
$('.content').toggle();
Working DEMO
$(document).ready(function(){
$("ul.topnav").on("click", "li.one", function() {
console.log('clicked!');
$('.content').toggle();
});
$('.content').hide();
});
I have troubling with showing a div while hovering a <a> tag , I could not solve the problem, my code is here in JSFIDDLE.
The <a> tag will be visible, while I click or hover on <a> tag the div below it should be visible.
Part of my code is like this :
<a class="search dropbox_btn" title="Ara" href="#drop-search" id="tour-search">Ara</a>
How can I do it with CSS, JavaScript or jQuery?
UPDATE: I want to show the div below:
<div id="pill_identifier_fmt">
Pure CSS solution:
JSFIDDLE
#pill_identifier_fmt{
display:none;
}
#tour-search:hover + div#pill_identifier_fmt{
display:block;
}
#pill_identifier_fmt:hover{
display:block;
}
Check this, DEMO Fiddle. If you wish you perform action on the form, this is the solution.
a#tour-search finds an <a> tag with id 'tour-search'. If you have multiple <a> tags use this. Else just $('a') would be fine.
$("a#tour-search").hover(function(){
$("#pill_identifier_fmt").css("display","block");
});
OR
$("a#tour-search").hover(function(){
$("#pill_identifier_fmt").show();
});
If you have multiple <a> tags
$("a").hover(function(){
$(this).closest('div').show();
});
Try this to hide and show div on hover of anchor tag.
$('.search').hover(
function() {
$('#pill_identifier_fmt').show(1000)},
function(){
$('#pill_identifier_fmt').hide(1000)}
);
Update:
If you just want to show the div after hovering not hide it,then you can do this
$('.search').hover(
function() {
$('#pill_identifier_fmt').show(1000)}
);
Using jQuery, you can add the code below. The advantage is that the form won't disappear the moment you hover away from the <a> tag.
JSFiddle
CSS:
.showAlways {
display: block;
}
.showHover {
display: none;
}
.showHover:hover {
display: block;
}
JavaScript:
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#pill_identifier_fmt').addClass('showHover');
$('#tour-search').hover(function() {
$('#pill_identifier_fmt').addClass('showAlways');
$('#pill_identifier_fmt').removeClass('showHover');
}, function() {
setTimeout(function() {
$('#pill_identifier_fmt').addClass('showHover');
$('#pill_identifier_fmt').removeClass('showAlways')
}, 1000);
});
});
I am using JS to show/hide divs via clicking on the side nav with jquery functions fadeIn() and fadeOut(). The problem I run into is as one div fades out, the next is fading in simultaneously. Also, if I click the link for the div that is already shown, it fades out and fades in again. I'm not sure if an IF statement would be the best approach to do two fixes:
1. Let shown div fully fadeOut before next starts to fadeIn.
2. Currently shown div will not fadeOut/In if same link is clicked.
Here is what I have thus far (without my broken attempt at an IF statement):
http://jsfiddle.net/k55Cw/1/
HTML:
<div class="container">
<header>
<ul class="sidenav">
<li><h2><a data-region="nav-1" href="#">About</a></h2></li>
<li><h2><a data-region="nav-2" href="#">Services</a></h2></li>
<li><h2><a data-region="nav-3" href="#">Team</a></h2></li>
<li><h2><a data-region="nav-4" href="#">News</a></h2></li>
<li><h2><a data-region="nav-5" href="#">Contact</a></h2></li>
</ul>
</header>
<div id="nav-1" class="infozone"><p>Hello I'm box 1.</p></div>
<div id="nav-2" class="infozone"><p>Hello I'm box 2.</p></div>
<div id="nav-3" class="infozone"><p>Hello I'm box 3.</p></div>
<div id="nav-4" class="infozone"><p>Hello I'm box 4.</p></div>
<div id="nav-5" class="infozone"><p>Hello I'm box 5.</p></div>
</div>
CSS:
.infozone{
float:left;
height:400px;
width:800px;
background-color: #000;
display:none;
}
JS:
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.sidenav a').click(function(){
$('.infozone').fadeOut(850);
var region = $(this).attr('data-region');
$('#' + region).fadeIn(850);
});
});
to chain the animations put the fadeIn inside the callback for fadeOut, and to cancel the function if it's currently shown, check if the div is already visible.
I've also had to add a check to see if the current .infozone div is visible - or else the fadeOut applies to hidden elements too, and the callback fires multiple times:
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.sidenav a').click(function(){
var region = $(this).attr('data-region');
var $region = $('#' + region);
if ($region.is(':visible')) return;
var $infozone = $('.infozone:visible');
if ($infozone.length === 0) {
$region.fadeIn(850);
} else {
$infozone.fadeOut(850, function() {
$region.fadeIn(850);
});
}
});
});
You could something like that:
html
This make you page works when javascript is disabled:
<header>
<ul class="sidenav">
<li><h2>About</h2></li>
<li><h2>Services</h2></li>
<li><h2>Team</h2></li>
<li><h2>News</h2></li>
<li><h2>Contact</h2></li>
</ul>
</header>
note that the href point to the id you want to show. This will works also for screen reader if you want to make your page accessible.
javascript. I have not tested it, you might have to fix few things, but the idea is there
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.sidenav a').click(function(e){
var href = $(this).attr('href');
// prevent default
e.preventDefault();
// prevent clicked twice
if(!$(this).hasClass('active'){
$('.sidenav a').removeClass('active');
$(this).addClass('active'){
$('.infozone').fadeOut(850);
$(href.substring(1)).fadeIn(850);
}
});
You should also consider adding some ARIA attributes and roles attributes.
