I can't seem to get my colorbox to work here, not sure whats missing. I have done this a ton of times, but apparently I am still so newb.
I have setup this sample page here:
http://www.whiterhino.us/aspire_setup/
(Click Either of the Red Buttons)
Wondering why the colorbox does not seem to format properly.
Thanks,
James
From a quick look at your source it appears you're missing the colorbox.css file.
That link is to the first example from the ColorBox demos on the website, but I'm pretty sure it's a standard file.

I wanted to ask a maybe dumb question but how do you guys set up an html website to look like this when searched on google?
Ive tried adding anchor tags to the meta tags, yes maybe quite dumb idea , well it didn't work, does anybody know how to? Thank you in advance
With Sitelinks
As Google Webmaster Tools explains:
Sitelinks are automatically generated links that may appear under your
site's search results
This means you can't add them via some tool or code. The best you can do is to structure your correctly. See Google's page about this https://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=47334&hl=en
It's generated automatcally by Google, but you can help the robots to show the right things using a sitemap: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/156184 also it allows you to make a link preview.
PS: There is lots of tools to do that, like this one https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/
I'm developing a web-page, basically from scratch. I have a .html file, .css file, and .js file that includes only JQuery. I am only running this locally on my own machine, and for some reason, now only some of my Javascript loads. For instance, I have some hidden s that when hovered over, they are displayed with JQuery calls. These seem to work fine as they always have. I have a scrolling sidebar that has hidden sub-menu items, and this usually loads fine as well. I have a hidden div that displays a definition list on a button click, and when you hover over the , the should slideDown. If I wait about 10-15 minutes this will start working. But obviously that is a problem.
Also, in Chrome's 'Developer Tools' I don't see any errors under the sources tab. I checked the 'Pause on caught exceptions' box, (this is where my knowledge ceases) and in jquery.min.js:formatted, it pauses and highlights e.querySelectorAll("*,:x"), and when I resume, it does the same thing here, c.call(e, "[s!='']:x"),
Hoping someone can not only answer my question, but explain what's going on here in the caught exceptions. By the way, I did not write jquery.min.js:formatted.
Thanks in advance!
I copy/pasted my link to fontawesome and the JQuery library is up to date. Someone said something about the possibility of an infinite loop, but I'm not keen on what that is, I'll look into it.
Showed some code above. Not sure how helpful it is.
My expected output would obviously be for my JQuery to work, but it is not.
No error messages in the Console.
I actually figured it out, sorry I can't post working examples bc it's proprietary.
I was missing a closing } bracket...
But the way I figured this out was through opening up Chrome's 'Developer Tools' and switching into the 'Sources' tab.
- From here, underneath the stop sign with a pause symbol, it displayed exceptions in the code where something breaks.
This was much easier than scanning the code with my eyes. Sorry if this was a basic answer, it really helped me a lot.
How are you guys doing?
I am recently doing applying CKEditor to my corp's editor.
It's been great though I've got stuck in some problem.
I expect it to be the best even when we paste other contents from web or Word, but What blocks me doing is something kind of inline style tag, such as 'p style....' since it won't take its style away that my viewer doesn't seem to keep the same form.
I found out that filter.js would be the perfect solution for it. But there doesn't seem to be any way I can handle in my IDE since it doesn't exist.
How can I find a file called 'filter.js' or other plug-in so that I can handle the other way. this is the URL which would be help.
http://docs.ckeditor.com/source/filter.html#CKEDITOR-filter
Thanks.
Do I have to make new file called filter.js so I can edit on my own.
So confused. Hope to get some nice solution to it. Thanks.
CKEditor has a robust content filtering system called ACF (Advanced Content Filter). Read more about it here: http://docs.ckeditor.com/#!/guide/dev_acf and see the samples here: http://sdk.ckeditor.com/samples/acf.html. It's highly flexible so you can customize it to your needs.
I found the jQuery Gallery View plugin because I was looking for a good way to cycle through pictures including text and one that was well designed. This plugin does not seem to be updated anymore and does not have much documentation so I am having difficulties implementing it. Does anyone have an idea as to how it works?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
Heres the code I have now (of course with the pictures at the right locations just not possible to attach in jsfiddle): http://jsfiddle.net/chromedude/GgusY/
Here's a start.
I'm taking a total guess at what your markup is supposed to be, because you were missing a bunch of </div> (close div) tags.
Things I had to change to get it this far:
Download galleryview-2.1.1.zip, and from that file...
Paste in contents of galleryview.css and jquery.galleryview-2.1.1js into the fiddle (normally you'd do this with proper external scripts and stylesheets)
Fix the markup so that all those <div class="panel"> tags are properly closed
Get a copy of jquery.timers-1.1.2.js onto the page
Step 2: got the loader image working by hosting the loader.gif file on imgur and editing the CSS accordingly.
Themes are tougher, because apparently, this genius™ plugin tries to figure out where your themes are hosted based on the location of the <script> tag which was used to load the galleryview plugin code. Absolute genius... </sarcasm>
Check it out →
no more image 404s. Loaded next.gif, prev.gif, panel-nav-next.gif, and panel-nav-prev.gif onto imgur so that jsfiddle can actually get the images.
I had to actually edit the plugin source for this one; if your server has the directory structure that galleryview expects, this should not be necessary.
Now here's the thing
You could keep wrestling with this plugin.
Or, you could use a different one, like Galleria. As far as I can tell from the example you've been trying to assemble, Galleria does all the same stuff. Since Galleria is actively maintained, you should actually be able to use it with a reasonably recent version of jQuery, as well as actually get support for it from the developer.
Get the latest version of jquery gallery view here:
http://plugins.jquery.com/node/7317/release
Then following on from that:
http://jsfiddle.net/chromedude/GgusY/
$('#photos .filmstrip').galleryView({
panel_width: 800,
panel_height: 300,
frame_width: 100,
frame_height: 100
});
I am coding some sort of booking system - calendar. One of the features is also a (js) pop up window with detailed information about event - user can either view them or edit.
Now my problem - I have put there a HTML select control (dropdown box), quite simple - 5 options. But somehow, and I have no ide why, this select is uneditable - that means that after I click on it nothing happens (I do not get the list of the options).
I know that now I should put a code here, however, whole system is so complex that it would take me ages.
I do not await exact answer or solution of my problem. I would like to ask you for advice - what would you check? I went through CSS up and down - no clue at all. Maybe some javascript? But how? I do use one public js library, so it might be something there, I checked as well, no clue.
Any advice would be much appreciated. I am stuck now... :-(
Thanks a lot!
Peter
::EDIT::
I have found out what is was! The ID if that pop-up window is bbit-cal-buddle and there is this line in the .js:
$("#bbit-cal-buddle").mousedown(function(e) { return false });
which basically explains why I can't select anything in dropdown (funny thing - checkboxes and radio works!). So my question is: how do I exclude my select and option tag from that .js command?
I've found a useful option when the bug is that obscure is to logarithmically comment your code.
That is,
Comment 100% of the code that might be causing a problem.
Test
If it works, uncomment 50% of the code you commented and go to step #2.
If it doesn't work, you know the problem exists in the code you uncommented.
Yes, this is somewhat of a monolothic technique, but I've found it to be very useful in the past.
Regards,
-Doug
Just to be sure, turn off ALL styles. this will render your page without the styles(obviously) and check if you can click the drop down. If you can, it is 98% a CSS error. It happened to me awhile ago - most probably an absolutely positioned div is covering it.
If you still can't click it, bring back the CSS then disable all javascripts. It should still be clickable by then since and html select tag doesnt need JS to be clickable.
If it still doesn't work, try doing a regular html select tag and check if you can select that one. If you can, then there is something wrong with your select tag
