actually, I was tried to create ajax post, the value "nama" is submited but not "komentar". So I tried to debug using alert (like one above) and still "komentar" is not change. What should I do?
Do you have another HTML element with the id "komentar" elsewhere on the page?
You have some errors in your html. Form should have "action" attribute, also js is not well.
I made example html and js files which works correctly. Html file passed w3.org validation and js passed jslint.

Remove the . after the alert statement so it reads;

In both cases, it returned the same error over and over again: "ReferenceError: Can't find variable: X". In the first example, X being "submit" and in the second "doSomething".
All help is very welcome. I know there are similar headlines here, but non of the solutions did anything for me.
Hey so when I ran the code without the e as a parameter for the submit function in the html it didn't give me the error. I think it may be because the e is the place holder for the text of the submit function in this case. Hope this helps.

I'm very new to jQuery. I've been trying to use the .serialize method in jQuery, but I can not seem to garner a response. I've checked console on Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, and Chrome but there's no indication of anything happening past connecting to the latest library (3.4.1). Edit: Since it seems you want to disable the default submit behavior for the button, adding the type="button" attribute removes the need to cancel the default behavior.
When you are including your own javascript within <script> tags you don't need the src attribute (this was causing the 404)

The $ is undefined is caused by jquery failing to load, which is caused by misspelling 'javascript' in

You can't include an src attribute and have data in the tag - if you have src, your script tag must be empty.
Simply use two separate ones:

Does anyone know how can I resolve the following: I want the form input by the user, to be alerted in a different HTML file.

That name you are setting in index.html is not the same name you are printing in the alert of signature.html.
You can see this by renaming name to name2 in both places.

The Javascript code is executing before that HTML has loaded. The element with id="e_name" doesn't actually exist in the document yet.
