var user = [];
function doFunction()
{
for(l=0;l<3;l++)
{
user.push(prompt("Bitte Mindestens 6 Zahlen von 1-49 eingeben" + "Abfrage Nr. " + (l + 1)));
}
}
doFunction();
document.write("Ihre Eingaben: " + user);
This is the working code, but I dont want that the function gets activated after refreshing the site, so I added this button:
and deleted doFunction(); in the script so it looked kinda like this:
<input type="button" value="Viel Glueck!" onClick="doFunction();">
<script>
var user = [];
function doFunction()
{
for(l=0;l<3;l++)
{
user.push(prompt("Bitte Mindestens 6 Zahlen von 1-49 eingeben" + "Abfrage Nr. " + (l + 1)));
}
}
document.write("Ihre Eingaben: " + user);
</script>
the script gets executed after pressing the button, but the variable is not working anymore(it doesnt save the output)
can anyone please help me with my problem?
As already pointed out, you might want to move the document.write into your function. However, I would like to point out that using document.write to begin with is a bad idea in almost all situations.
Why? It only works while the page is "open", i.e. is being loaded. When the user press the button the page will most likely have finished loading. The browser will then reopen it, and in doing so erasing all content. Read more about it here, or check this fiddle out.
Instead, if you want to write something to the page using JavaScript, use the DOM. First create a div that will contain the content:
<div id="message" />
Then when you want to write something, in your case in the doFunction, fill the div with content like this:
document.getElementById("message").innerHTML = "Ihre Eingaben: " + user;
Try to move the document.write inside the function like this:
var user = [];
function doFunction()
{
for(l=0;l<3;l++)
{
user.push(prompt("Bitte Mindestens 6 Zahlen von 1-49 eingeben" + "Abfrage Nr. " + (l + 1)));
}
document.write("Ihre Eingaben: " + user);
}

I am trying to create code that when you press a button, it will change the value of a variable and replace some text.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="UTF-8">
</head>
<body>
<p id="unitts">You have 0 unitts</p>
<script type="text/javascript">
var unitt = 0;
function unittIncrease() {
var unittPrev = unitt;
unitt++;
document.getElementById(unitts).innerHTML.replace("You have " + unittPrev.toString() + " unitts.", "You have " + unitt.toString() + " unitts.");
}
</script>
<button id="unittIncrease" onclick="unittIncrease();">Digitize Unitt</button>
</body>
</html>
When I press the button, nothing happens to the text.
I don't know why this does not work.
Please help me!
EDIT: I am only 11 years old,
please don't throw your wizard
code at me.
maybe you should remove your button system and add a while loop that
automatically add a unit but waits one second with a setInterval
function
I think you should write the js code like this
document.getElementById('unitts').innerHTML = "You have"....
Instead of:
document.getElementById(unitts).innerHTML.replace("...")
Your JavaScript should be (note the unitts wrapped in quotes and the full stop removed):
document.getElementById('unitts').innerHTML = "You have " + unitt + " unitts";
Instead of:
document.getElementById(unitts).innerHTML.replace("You have " + unittPrev.toString() + " unitts.", "You have " + unitt.toString() + " unitts.");
In the latter, it is looking for the non-existent variable unitts instead of the string 'unitts'. Also, you are looking for the text You have x unitts. which cannot be found because in your HTML, it is just You have x unitts without the full stop.
Edit
See this plnkr.
Apart from the issues that the other answer mentions, by calling .replace method on the .innerHTML property of the element, the content of it doesn't change. You should reset the property by using the returned value of the method call:
el.innerHTML = el.innerHTML.replace(...);
Also, as you are trying to increase a number, instead of replacing all the characters, you can just replace the numeric part:
var unitts = document.getElementById('unitts');
function unittIncrease() {
unitts.textContent = unitts.textContent.replace(/\d+/, function(n) {
return +n + 1;
});
}

Inside my content.js I am writting a new HTML page with a pre polulated form, which contains var a and var b. Those 2 variables are created before, inside content.js, so I can easily use them inside my HTML page. Now I want to override those variables a and b as the user finishes editing the form and presses the button Accept. Is there anyway I can achieve this?
This is a part of the code
var a="FName";
var b="LName";
var myWindow = window.open("Accept", "myWindow", "width=450, height=300");
myWindow.document.write(
"<html>"+
"<head>"+
'<script> function closeWindow(){ var x = document.getElementById("firstname").value alert(x); window.close();}'+
"</script>"+
"</head>"+
"<body>"+
"<form>"+
"<div id=leadinformation>"+
"<p id=titleParagraph>You are about to create a new Lead:</p>"+
"First Name....."+ "<input type=text id=firstname value="+a+">" +"<br>"+
"Last Name....."+ "<input type=text id=lastname value="+b+">" +
"</div>"+
"<div>"+
"<button id=Accept onClick=closeWindow() >Accept</button>"+
"<button id=Close onClick=closeWindow() >Close</button>"+
"</div>"+
"</form>"+
"</body>"+
"<html>"
);
myWindow.document.getElementById('Accept').onclick=Accept;
myWindow.document.getElementById('Close').onclick=Close;
function Accept(){
alert(myWindow.document.getElementById('firstname').innerText);
}
function Close() {//do smthing
}
Sorry for bad formating.
Currently the output of the Accept(); is empty at the moment. How can I get first name input result?
What I want to achieve:
1) I am creating a button on a page
2) When I click on the button a new html page pops out (the one that I am hardcode writing it)
3) I pre populate the form with some variables that I created before
4) When Clicking The Accept button on the form the Accept() function is triggered where I would want to use those input values the user has written.
This should help you: Sharing global javascript variable of a page (...).
The question is about "How to share a variable to another page in an iframe", but this works for a new windows as well.
i.e.:
myWindow.document.write(
"<html>" +
"<head>" +
'<script>' +
'function closeWindow(){' +
'var x = document.getElementById("firstname").value;' +
'alert(x);' +
'// do something to parent.a and parent.b here, just because you can:' +
'parent.a = "Oh, would you look at it, it works!";' +
'parent.b = "And it is so pretty too!";' +
'window.close();' +
'}' +
"</script>" +
"</head>" +
" Your body code here, etc " +
"</html>"
);
Also, please note that your code lacks a semicolon (;) after inserting value to var x in your new window's JavaScript code. That will most probably make your code malfunction. The closing </html> tag lacks the slash, but I don't know if that's gonna break anything; you'd better fix that as well, just in case.
Hi guys i been trying to figure out for a long time but i suck at this, i found this code on google and i added it adn changed what i need but still doesnt work i really need this for my site: http://www.balkan-party.cf/
I found code here: http://www.samkitson.co.uk/using-json-to-access-last-fm-recently-played-tracks/
My last.fm username i need in js: alicajdin AND
Api key: 24f6b03517ad9984de417be5d10e150b
This is what i did:
$(document).ready(function() {
$.getJSON("http://ws.audioscrobbler.com/2.0/?method=user.getRecentTracks&user=alicajdin&api_key=24f6b03517ad9984de417be5d10e150b&limit=2&format=json&callback=?", function(data) {
var html = ''; // we declare the variable that we'll be using to store our information
var counter = 1; // we declare a counter variable to use with the if statement in order to limit the result to 1
$.each(data.recenttracks.track, function(i, item) {
if(counter == 1) {
html += 'Currently listening to: <span>' + item.name + ' - ' + item.artist['#text'] + '</span>';
} // close the if statement
counter++ // add 1 to the counter variable each time the each loop runs
}); // close each loop
$('.listening-to h5').append(html); // print the information to the document - here I look for the h5 tag inside the div with a class of 'listening-to' and use the jQuery append method to insert the information we've stored in the html variable inside the h5 tag.
}); // close JSON call
});
I created that file and i tried to add on head section, footer section but it wont show recent tracks.
And yea i have scroblr installed on google crome
below </script> add the following code:
<div class="listening-to"></div>
then remove "h5" on
"$('.listening-to h5').append(html);"
so your code like this:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
$.getJSON("http://ws.audioscrobbler.com/2.0/?method=user.getRecentTracks&user=YOUR_USERNAME&api_key=YOUR_API_KEY&limit=2&format=json&callback=?", function(data) {
var html = '';
var counter = 1;
$.each(data.recenttracks.track, function(i, item) {
if(counter == 1) {
html += 'Currently listening to: <span>' + item.name + ' - ' + item.artist['#text'] + '</span>';
}
counter++
});
$('.listening-to').append(html);
});
});
</script>
<div class="listening-to"></div>
Hope you can help. Sorry, my English is very Bad (Google Translate)
Hy,
Basically, I have a number of dynamically generated list items with a button in them. When I prepend the list item to the ul list, I have access to a variable that I want to pass when I click the button in the list items. But when I add the variable in the line of code shown below, it gives me a Uncaught ReferenceError: challenger is not defined error. How can I pass these variable along?
JAVASCRIPT:
window.GLOBAL_socket.on('challenged', function(data) {
console.log("You have been challenged by the player " + data.challenger);
var challenged = getUrlVars()['user'];
var challenger = data.challenger;
$("#challengesList").prepend("<li><div id='newChallenge'><p id='challenge_header'>You have been challenged by: </p><p id='challenge_challenger'>" + data.challenger +
"</p><input type='button' value='ACCEPT' id='challenge_accept' onclick='acceptChallenge(challenger)'></input><input type='button' value='DECLINE' " +
"id='challenge_decline' onclick='declineChallenge(this)'></div></li>");
});
The onclick method is found on line 6.
Thanks for your responses,
Zeno
The reason why challenger is not defined is because it's a local variable and is not accessible globally when you actually trigger the function with a click.
So instead of using the variable, just place it's actual value in the onclick.
Change your code to:
$("#challengesList").prepend("<li><div id='newChallenge'><p id='challenge_header'>You have been challenged by: </p><p id='challenge_challenger'>" + data.challenger +
"</p><input type='button' value='ACCEPT' id='challenge_accept' onclick='acceptChallenge(\""+challenger+"\")'></input><input type='button' value='DECLINE' " +
"id='challenge_decline' onclick='declineChallenge(this)'></div></li>");
Change your code as I mentioned in comments.
var challenged = [];
var challenger = [];
var counter = 0;
window.GLOBAL_socket.on('challenged', function(data) {
console.log("You have been challenged by the player " + data.challenger);
counter++;
challenged[counter] = getUrlVars()['user'];
challenger[counter] = data.challenger;
$("#challengesList").prepend("<li><div id='newChallenge'><p id='challenge_header'>You have been challenged by: </p><p id='challenge_challenger'>"
+ data.challenger
+ "</p><input type='button' value='ACCEPT' id='challenge_accept'"
// change of code --> passing value directly into the function
+ " onclick='acceptChallenge(challenger["+counter+"]
+")'></input><input type='button' value='DECLINE' "
+ "id='challenge_decline' onclick='declineChallenge(this)'></div></li>");
});
I just modified code, hope it works for you. Let me know
I finally got my back-end to create the wheel codes from the checked taxonomies in the add custom post admin area.
Now, I want to add that tire code to the wheel_type taxonomy.
The below code ran great, until I added the if statement under //Add code to Taxonomy
Now nothing is working, but I get nothing in the error console.
I figure it must be a stupid syntax mistake - can anyone help me out?
Or am I missing something else?
jQuery('#replace').click(function(){
//get tire code and name
var code = jQuery('input[name="tire_code"]').val();
var name = jQuery('input[name="tire_name"]').val();
var bname = jQuery('input[name="tire_bname"]').val();
alert(code + " + " + name + " + " + bname);
//get tire brand
var tirebran = jQuery('#tire_brandchecklist').find(":checked").parent('label').text();
tirebran = jQuery.trim( tirebran );
//Add code to Taxonomy
if( term_exists( code, wheel_type ){
continue;
}
else
{
wp_insert_term( code, wheel_type );
}
//update title
var title = code + ' : ' + name + ' tires';
if(tirebran!=''){
title += ' with ' + bname + ' letters';
}
jQuery('input[name="post_title"]').focus().val(title);
});
//-->
</script>
unless i've misunderstood your question, you're trying to call wordpress methods via javascript.
term_exists() and wp_insert_term() are PHP methods within the wordpress code, not accessible directly via Javascript (unless you have written interfaces to them).
continue doesn't make any sense there; just check for !term_exists... and call wp_insert_term when it doesn't exist.
if (!term_exists(code, wheel_type)) {
wp_insert_term(code, wheel_type);
}
The continue statement is for continuing loops from the top of the loop; it does not stand on its own.
