sending data from js to the mvc controller - javascript

I have on the view list of images with checkbox in front each image. Checkbox is populated with image id so I can recognize which image is checked for manipulation.
When button is clicked I'm recognizing which images are checked and store each image id to the array of ints. These array I want to sent to the mvc3 controller but I have problem I'm getting error inside sent parameters (firebug). For example if two images are checked I got following:
undefined undefined
undefined undefined
here's the code
var imgList = [];
$('#deleteImgBtn').click(function () {
$('.imgCheckbox:checked').each(function () {
var id = $(this).attr('id');
imgList.push(id);
});
jQuery.ajaxSettings.traditional = true;
$.ajax({
url: '/property/deleteimages',
type: 'POST',
data: imgList ,
success: function(result){
alert("ok");
}
});
...
public ActionResult DeleteImages(int[] data)
{
return PartialView(data);
}

try
$.ajax({
url: '/Property/DeleteImages',
type: 'POST',
data: { data : imgList },
traditional : true,
success: function(result){
alert("ok");
}
});

Passing parameters between html pages using jquery

I have one html page which contains a jquery function.
<script>
function loadCustomers() {
$.ajax({
type: 'GET',
url: 'http://localhost:8080/cache/getCustomers',
dataType: 'json',
success: function(data) {
var rows = [];
$.each(data,function(id,value) {
rows.push('<tr><td><a href="clientSiteInfo.html?client=">'+id+'</td><td>'+value+'</td></tr>');
});
$('table').append(rows.join(''));
}
});
};
window.onload = loadCustomers;
</script>
I have linked another html page for each row. When each rows populated, the id values has to be passed to the clientSiteInfo.html page.
In the clientSiteInfo.html page i have another jquery function similar to above.
<script>
function loadSites() {
$.ajax({
type: 'GET',
url: 'http://localhost:8080/cache/getSite?clientName='+${param.client},
dataType: 'json',
success: function(data) {
var rows = [];
$.each(data,function(id,value) {
rows.push('<tr><td>'+id+'</td><td>'+value.machine+'</td><td>'+value.state+'</td></tr>');
});
$('table').append(rows.join(''));
}
});
};
window.onload = loadSites;
</script>
in the GET url I try to read client parameter. But it is not passing from my initial page.
What Im doing wrong here? I look for simple solution
jQuery doesn't have a native way to read the url parameters. However, javascript works just fine:
function getParameterByName(name) {
const match = RegExp(`[?&]${name}=([^&]*)`).exec(window.location.search);
return match && decodeURIComponent(match[1].replace(/\+/g, ' ') );
}
In your code you would just call it as getParameterByName('client')

How to catch array sent by PHP script as Ajax response and use further?

I am working on an e-commerce project for practice and right now I am building product filters. So I have three files
catalogue.php
It basically shows all the products.
product filters on left and displays products on right. When user checks a box then AJAX call is made.
productsfilter.js
It contains Javascript and AJAX calls.
var themearray = new Array();
$('input[name="tcheck"]:checked').each(function(){
themearray.push($(this).val());
});
if(themearray=='') $('.spanbrandcls').css('visibility','hidden');
var theme_checklist = "&tcheck="+themearray;
var main_string = theme_checklist;
main_string = main_string.substring(1, main_string.length)
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "mod/product_filter.php",
data: main_string,
cache: false,
success: function(html){
replyVal = JSON.parse(myAjax.responseText);
alert(replyVal);
}
});
product_filter.php
It is the PHP script called by the AJAX call.
$tcheck = $objForm->getPost('tcheck');
if(!empty($tcheck)) {
if(strstr($tcheck,',')) {
$data1 = explode(',',$tcheck);
$tarray = array();
foreach($data1 as $t) {
$tarray[] = "adv.attribute_deterministic_id = $t";
}
$WHERE[] = '('.implode(' OR ',$tarray).')';
} else {
$WHERE[] = '(adv.attribute_deterministic_id = '.$tcheck.')';
}
}
$w = implode(' AND ',$WHERE);
if(!empty($w))
{
$w = 'WHERE '.$w;
}
$results = $objCatalogue->getResults($w);
echo json_encode($results);
So product_filter.php returns an array of product_ids retrieved from the database and gives it back to AJAX. Now the problem is: that array of product ids I got from AJAX call, how do I use it in catalogue.php?
As I got {["product_id" : "1"]} from product_filter.php, I want to use this id in catalogue.php and find the related attributes and display the product details.
How can I pass this array to my catalogue.php page so that it can use this array and call further PHP functions on it?
If the question is unclear then kindly say so, and I will try to explain it as clearly as I can. Help would be much appreciated.
It seems you want to get data from one php and send it to a different php page then have the ajax callback process the results from that second page.
You have at least 2 options
Option 1 (the way I would do it)
In product_filter.php, near the top, do this
include('catalogue.php');
still in product_filter.php somewhere have your function
function getFilterStuff($someDataFromAjax){
// ... do some stuff here to filter or whatever
$productData = getCatalogueStuff($results);
echo json_encode($productData);
exit;
}
In catalogue.php somewhere have that function
function getCatalogueStuff($resultsFromFilter){
// ... get product data here
return $productData;
}
Then in your Ajax do this:
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
dataType: "json", // add this
url: "mod/filter_products.php",
data: main_string,
cache: false,
success: function (response) {
replyVal = response;
alert(replyVal);
}
});
Option 2
Nested ajax calls like this:
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
dataType: "json", // add this
url: "mod/filter_products.php",
data: main_string,
cache: false,
success: function (filterResponse) {
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
dataType: "json", // add this
url: "catalogue.php",
data: filterResponse,
cache: false,
success: function (catalogueResponse) {
alert(catalogueResponse);
}
});
}
});

(this).parent().find not working for getting response in ajax call

$(".content-short").click(function() {
$(".content-full").empty();
var contentid=$(this).parent().find(".content-full").attr('data-id');
var content=$(this).parent().find(".content-full");
alert(contentid);
var collegename = $(this).attr('data-id');
$.ajax({
type: "post",
url: "contenthome.php",
data: 'collegename=' + collegename,
dataType: "text",
success: function(response) {
$content.html(response);
}
});
});
here the alert displays the specific data-id but
content=$(this).parent().find(".content-full");
this didn't displays data in content-full div with that specific data-id
anything wrong in the code or something else?
the query displays data if i use(."content-full"); instead of
$(this).parent().find(".content-full");
Inside the ajax callback you are using $content, but you declare your variable as content. May that be the problem?
Your question is not clear. What are you trying to achieve?

Updating div content after form submit without page reload

alright, I have a popup which displays some notes added about a customer. The content (notes) are shown via ajax (getting data via ajax). I also have a add new button to add a new note. The note is added with ajax as well. Now, the question arises, after the note is added into the database.
How do I refresh the div which is displaying the notes?
I have read multiple questions but couldn't get an answer.
My Code to get data.
<script type="text/javascript">
var cid = $('#cid').val();
$(document).ready(function() {
$.ajax({ //create an ajax request to load_page.php
type: "GET",
url: "ajax.php?requestid=1&cid="+cid,
dataType: "html", //expect html to be returned
success: function(response){
$("#notes").html(response);
//alert(response);
}
});
});
</script>
DIV
<div id="notes">
</div>
My code to submit the form (adding new note).
<script type="text/javascript">
$("#submit").click(function() {
var note = $("#note").val();
var cid = $("#cid").val();
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "ajax.php?requestid=2",
data: { note: note, cid: cid }
}).done(function( msg ) {
alert(msg);
$("#make_new_note").hide();
$("#add").show();
$("#cancel").hide();
//$("#notes").load();
});
});
</script>
I tried load, but it doesn't work.
Please guide me in the correct direction.
Create a function to call the ajax and get the data from ajax.php then just call the function whenever you need to update the div:
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
// create a function to call the ajax and get the response
function getResponse() {
var cid = $('#cid').val();
$.ajax({ //create an ajax request to load_page.php
type: "GET",
url: "ajax.php?requestid=1&cid=" + cid,
dataType: "html", //expect html to be returned
success: function(response) {
$("#notes").html(response);
//alert(response);
}
});
}
getResponse(); // call the function on load
$("#submit").click(function() {
var note = $("#note").val();
var cid = $("#cid").val();
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "ajax.php?requestid=2",
data: {
note: note,
cid: cid
}
}).done(function(msg) {
alert(msg);
$("#make_new_note").hide();
$("#add").show();
$("#cancel").hide();}
getResponse(); // call the function to reload the div
});
});
});
</script>
You need to provide a URL to jQuery load() function to tell where you get the content.
So to load the note you could try this:
$("#notes").load("ajax.php?requestid=1&cid="+cid);

How to connect to the Parse Javascript API? (502 error)

I am building a chatroom-type app using the Parse Javascript API. The task is to get some data from Parse, display it, add user input to the messages, and send it right back to parse.
The problem is I am not being able to see the data from parse, and receive a 502 error. I am a bit newer to javascript, so any advice on how to accomplish this, or any mistakes you may see in my code, would be fantastic. I also commented out my code the best I could. Thanks for the help.
Here is my code;
$(document).ready(function(){
delete Chat.display;
delete Chat.send;
delete Chat.fetch;
var my_messages = $('ul.messages')
//fetches data from parse
var myChat = function() {
$.ajax({
url: "https://api.parse.com/1/classes/chats",
dataType: "json",
success: console.log("Success"),
function message(a) {
my_messages.append('<ul>' + a +'</ul>'); //adds ul 'text' to messages
};
});
};
myChat(); // call mychat
$('button.send').on('click', function() { // when user clicks send
// send post to
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "https://api.parse.com/1/classes/chats",
data: JSON.stringify({text: $('input.draft').val()}), // stringify the text on value input.draft
function(message){
window.location.reload(1) //refresh every 3 seconds
});
});
});
</script>
you have syntax error in both of your success functions of $.ajax calls. In the first ajax call you have places console.log, which should be inside the success callback. In the second one u haven't even added success: callback.
Try below updated code
$(document).ready(function(){
delete Chat.display;
delete Chat.send;
delete Chat.fetch;
var my_messages = $('ul.messages');
var myChat = function() {
$.ajax({
url: "https://api.parse.com/1/classes/chats",
dataType: "json",
success:function message(a) {
console.log("Success")
$.each(a,function(i,item){
my_messages.append('<ul>' + item.username +'</ul>'); //adds ul 'text' to messages
});
}
});
};
myChat(); // call mychat
$('button.send').on('click', function() { // when user clicks send
// send post to
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "https://api.parse.com/1/classes/chats",
data: JSON.stringify({text: $('input.draft').val()}), // stringify the text on value input.draft
success:function(message){
window.location.reload(1) //refresh every 3 seconds
}
});
});
});
